  1. I just called the 1-800 USCIS mis-information line to get a status on my pending case since the processing date for my district office is over 30 days past my receipt date for my I-485. After waiting for over 1 hour I spoke to an office who advised me that basically the district office processing dates are INVALID for the family based I-485 and should not even be used. That I-485's are taking anywhere from 24-48 months to process and that many FBI name checks are taking up to 1 year to come back. But then also said that name checks often come back withing 120 days after the interview??? She also told me that 'touches' on your case can mean absolutely nothing at all. And that an officer is not at all obligated to update your online status message or even send you an email....and most don't. She did claim to be able to check a few different systems to see if my case was approved and said that it had not yet, so basically the 2 touches that I've had on my I-485 in the last week mean nothing?! UGH...I am more confused and frustrated now than I was before.... :crying::angry:

  2. Last week I wrote that my pending AOS case was finally touched on 07/11/06. It is pending due to the FBI name check. Well this morning I checked the online status again and noticed that the I-485 was touched again yesterday, as well as the I-130, which was approved in May. Although the messages are still the same. I'm not sure why an application that has already been approved (I-130) would be touched again, but I am hoping that all of these recent touches mean that something very good is about to happen.

  3. One major underyling point that a few have mentionned, is that this is a website for those who are going thru or have already been thru the immigration process in one way or another and are seeking help, advice or simply support from others. In my opinion it all goes back to a little advice that my mother has given to me and I'm sure many of you have heard the same "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all". The truth is that most of us don't know each other personally, so we have no right to judge anyone. All the best of luck to you Luiz with this whole situation and please know that there will ALWAYS be people here that you can talk to.

  4. I know that there are many people who have waited longer than I have and I do have deep sympathy for them. But I also know that many who have been waiting a long time have not contacted anyone or done anything and are stuck waiting for something to happen. Everyone has a right to deal with their case the way that they want to and I totally respect that, but I refuse to just sit and wait. The processing date for Buffalo is about 10 days short of being over the 30 days for me and is about to change soon, so I am just being proactive. I choose to at least keep my case familiar to those who matter, even if nothing else comes from it. I also know that it can take a while for those such as the Senator and the First Lady to actually get back to me and by the time that they do, it will likely be just in time. I haven't seen most of my large family in about 2 years, I've missed a few very special family events and I have a few close relatives who are deathly ill, so I am trying to do what I can. It helps me to feel like I am at least a little bit in control. All the best to you and Wes, and everyone else who is at the mercy of USCIS.

  5. We mad my AOS Interview on 05/11/06 and it was 'sort-of approved', but pending the famous FBI name check. Since then I have written to my Senator, the First Lady and called USCIS, with no results. But on 07/11/06 I noticed that my I-485 was 'touched' and I wonder what this could mean? Prior to that, it had not been touched since 04/06/06. The actual status of my case has not changed yet, I have not received an email or anything in the mail. What a tease....this is driving me CRAZY!!!!
