Our AOS was mailed on 03/10/06, we received NOA 1/I-130 on 03/20/06 and NOA 1/I-485 on 03/21/06. Yours will come soon!!!

Do you remember when/if you received the email telling you that the Welcome to America letter had been mailed?

I was just wondering what the steps were for the AOS approval. Meaning what happens step by step from the time you receive the Welcome to America email? This is what I believe it might be because of the few different things i've read, but if someone could tell me for sure, it would be greatly appreciated.

1. Welcome to America email & letter

2. I-485 Approval email

3. "A greencard has been ordered" email

4. Greencard in the mail

And about how long does it take to receive the greencard from the time that the 'welcome' email is received? Sorry about all of the questions, but now that we are approved we are so anxious to get the darn card....lol. Thank you for your help!!!!

Congratulations on your approval! I received the same email on the exact same date as you. Let me know when you receive your welcome letter and greencard!!!

I never had an AP or EAD, so I have not travelled or worked since I came here to the U.S. almost 2 years ago. I am planning a trip very soon and that is why I asked about having my passport stamped, but if the card comes soon, then I will not need it. Thank you to all for your help!!

Once the Welcome to America letter is received, can we make an infopass appt. to have our passport stamped while waiting to receive the greencard? I believe that I read a few times before that this can be done, but just want to make sure.

We had my AOS interview on 05/11/06 and were told that we were approved, but pending the famous FBI name check. Well we just returned from a camping trip this morning to find an email from USCIS stating that my case had FINALLY been approved yesterday, 08/15/06. Now we are anxiously awaiting the Welcome to America letter and then the greencard. The wait for our approval is finally over!!!!!!!!

This morning we just returned from camping and found in our email the best gift that we could have ever received:

to Adjust Status

Current Status:

On August 15, 2006, a welcome notice was mailed for this case. If 30

days have passed and you have not received this notice. Please call

the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283 during business

We are sooooooooo excited!!! I must admit that I bawled my eyes out as soon as I saw this! Now we just have to wait for the actual welcome letter and then the greencard!!!!!

I think you're right Rebecca, I saw not long ago that my case reappeared with no change in the status message. I guess I was 'jumping the gun'....

I just looked at my case status on the USCIS website and it says that the receipt number cannot be found. I know that this can probably mean anything, but I am hanging onto a bit of hope that it just might mean something good. I've checked my cases MANY, MANY times each day and this has never happened....

I guess it could mean anything, but this has never happened to my case before (I check it ALOT), so I am hanging on to a little bit of hope that it might mean something positive......

I felt the exact same way as you yesterday, because I read that same post that said "approved in 2 months without interview". So obviously the FBI is more than capable of returning extremely speedy name checks....but is it only for a chosen few? I was trying to be as patient as possible before, but now that I see many people who applied after me and are getting approved way before me and others, it's extremely frustrating. This whole system sucks. And now we're also seriously debating applying for the EAD, but with our luck we will and we'll get approved before we get it. We've already given them enough money already.

Wow, it's sad to see that our list is growing rapidly, but none of us are really getting removed from it.... Something really has to be done about this, it's totally ridiculous... Why even bother processing cases so quickly, just to be held-up by something else?! Ok, that was my venting for the day...lol.

Thank you for the kind words. The reason that I didn't and cannot apply for AP is that I 'overstayed' my visitor status and it was recommended by my attorney not to apply for it because we could run into some problems, such as being slapped with a 3-10 year ban upon re-entry. As for knowing that my case has been 'touched', the reason that I know this is that I signed-up my case on the USCIS website and you can look there for updates on your file. There is one field that is called "Last Updated Date" (or something close to that) and it tells you the last time that something was done to your case by USCIS. Go to the USCIS website and look for a section that is called "Online Case Status". All the best of luck to you!

I am so sorry to hear that you had a bad day today Rebecca. I too have been feeling very angry, frustrated and sad about this whole process lately. What I think makes it worse is that for us the process at the begining went very quickly and then just came to an abrupt stop. We had planned a family vacation to Quebec with my parents, brother, etc... for August 12th, and at the beginning we really thought we'd be going, but now, those plans are pretty much shattered.

My I-485 and I-130 were also touched twice in one week and so far I have heard nothing. I'd love to know just what is going on over there?!

Well, I had 2 touches in a weeks time and there have been no changes to my status message, and I have not received any emails or mail. I guess sometimes touches really do mean nothing, but that whole concept is so strange to me. They must be doing something to the file for the date to change????!!!!
