Hello everyone! We're at the NVC stage of this whole process and I have a question about the I-864. I am petitioning for my children (2); do I need to fill out 2 separate I-864's?

I guess its up to you and a personal choice - I want to change mine cuz I never wanted to change my name to marriage, I added his last name onto mine for banking and work.
I'm going back to mine whenever I have the opportunity.
Congrats! Glad you had the chance to do your ceremony same day, sucks that you gotta wait! Was it an early interiew?
I want to if I can without paying s**t LOL Do I need to update the certificate if I go to the SSA and change my name?

Hehe! You're gonna do the change after your ceremony? That carries a fee, no?
I really don't wanna have to change every piece of paper with my current name - I never changed my name and now I don't wanna.
See, that's what I don't know. Should I even change it?

Hmm. I'm wondering the same. I never legally changed my name on anything - SSN, driver's license still have maiden name. But all the notices from USCIS have my married name, because my dumbass wrote my current legal name as FirstName MiddleName MarriedName. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.
Won't you be able to change it at the interview? They asked me and my dumbass flaked cause I think I can use my judgement for it.
-
I flaked on my name change during my interview as it will take longer for an oath ceremony. I want to revert back to my maiden name and I was hoping if anyone can help me. TIA!
I just want to revert back to my maiden name. I asked SSA if my notice of judgment of dissolution will suffice for a name change to revert back to my maiden and they are okay with it so long as I was issued a SSN using my maiden name prior. The naturalization certificate will have my married name. I was wondering if I should make the SSA and DMV changes first then the passport? I'm concerned that my certificate of naturalization won't match the names. -
Interview was today and was approved!! I think I made a big mistake though about the name change. I want to revert back to my maiden name as my divorce decree didn't have that on there. I asked the IO how long it'll take and she said 3-4 months - when she said that, I took it back and asked her to place no on the name change.
Can I use my divorce decree to revert back? I saw a post that that was fine and would like to confirm

Interview was today - it went well and got approved!! Waiting for the oath taking ceremony schedule now. Good luck to everyone!!
On a side note, I asked the IO if a name change back to my maiden name after a divorce would delay the oath taking by a couple of months and she said yes so I didn't proceed with it. I'm not sure if I made a very big mistake or I can use a divorce decree (name change not part of judgement) as a document to change my name back

Long story short, I'm (mom) in the states and my kids are back home. I had an Affidavit of Support and Consent and a Legal Guardianship apostilled and sent to my aunt for their DFA passporting.
The Affidavit of Suport states that my aunt would be the travelling companion but it's going to be me.
DSWD is going to issue a clearance. I was wondering if this would suffice with the DFA for the passporting to go through with my aunt? Does anyone have any experience with this one?
TIA!

Should a divorce be a cause for concern when applying using the 5-year rule? We got divorced approx. 2 years after I got the 10-year green card and have lots of evidence proving bona fide marriage - it simply just did not work out. I am really stressing out if this will, in any way, affect the results of the N400... Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hello! My mom was the primary caretaker for my minor children in the Philippines. She has passed away unexpectedly. I am in deep panic and seeing if there are any other avenues that I can get the my children here in the US quicker. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I am in the process of submitting N400 online. I have reached out to a lawyer and she said that the best thing to do is to start the I130 process.

Hello everyone! My early filing for the 5-year rule is going to be on January 25. I have a couple of questions:
- I am in the process of getting a divorce. Should I wait until that is finalized or should just go ahead and do it when the 90-day window opens?
- I am planning to change my name back to my maiden name during this process instead of the divorce, would this be an issue?
- What evidence should I provide in the initial packet and during the interview?
TIA and any help is greatly appreciated!

You would need evidence of husband's U.S. citizenship
As for tax return/transcripts .. if you file jointly you can request copies from the IRS.
Read this>> https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/attachments.pdf some documents are OR not ALL
Must be very frustrating that your husband isn't willing to to cooperate/assist you.
Extremely. Well, I only have a year left. Might as well wait instead of burning $725.

Is there a specific reason you filed MFS for 2019 tax year?
Just to verify: Do you still meet "Living in Marital Union" requirement for 3-year rule?
No, unfortunately. I am also wondering what a divorce can impact on the 5-year rule.

The purpose of providing evidence of tax filing is that it is evidence of continuous residence. The more evidence the better. Whether what you have is sufficient or not depends on the IO.
Why don't you have a 2019 Tax Transcript?
2019's is not a joint filing.

Hello Visa Journey! Before I start, I would like to say thank you to all of you for all the help!
Evidences:
I only have the following and wondering if this will suffice: 2016, 2017, 2018 Income Tax Transcripts showing joint filing and our marriage certificate.
That's it. I'm sure that the naturalization won't be as stringent with evidences as the ROC but please correct me if I'm wrong.

He doesn't have to show up .. he isn't applying for citizenship.
Confused why he doesn't want you to naturalize.
You don't have your green card or a copy of your marriage certificate? Marriage certificate is recorded with the county where you were married, easy to acquire a copy.
I have my green card & the marriage certificate. I do not have the tax returns for 2020 & 2019 that it's a joint filing, no lease copy, no bills, no vehicle insurance.
-
I won't be able to provide the documentation for the 3-year eligibility.

You're still married? If yes - Don't need anything from your spouse specifically.
What is required for the 3 year requirement is:
- A copy of your Permanent Resident Card
- A copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable)

Civics Test: https://www.uscis.gov/citizenship/2020test
More afraid that he won't show up to any interviews if he's requested and we haven't been living together.

It's not really any of my business, so you don't have to answer. But why would a spouse "not cooperate" on this? Also, I'm not sure what level of cooperation is required for your spouse to participate in your naturalization at this point...?
Isn't it that for the interview the spouse should be there?
