My close friend had a different experience a year ago. She wasn't allowed to board the plane in Los Angeles with an extension letter. Also, there are multiple stories online about how people were denied. So maybe it's just bad luck for some people, but there are so many beautiful countries I'd travel to instead of Mexico because I don't wanna pay thousands of $ for my vacation and probably won't even be able to board the plane. I've been to Cancun, and Playa several times already. And to be honest, I prefer Dominican Republic, Aruba, or St. Martin.

I also traveled successfully through Mexico City from LAX-Santiago-LAX with an extension letter, perhaps things have changed after the pandemic (my trip was Dec 2019 - Jan 2020)

Ok I misread your post. My anxiety stems from the fact that I doubt whether officers in Argentina know about this extension letter…

Don't worry. Going in, Argentina won't ask for anything US related, just your passport. You will have to show your documents (GC + extension letter) at the counter in Argentina when you are going back to the US so it's the airline folks looking at your documents, not Argentinian officers. I did this in 2019 in Chile (flew LATAM) and no issues whatsoever. I did it as well in China and had no issues either.

    Hii.

Anyone who applied for the I-551 stamp?

My 18 months extension expires in August 14th according to the I-797 letter.

How early can I make the appointment for the stamp and how do I have to do?

    Thank you. :)

You have to call USCIS 30 days before it expires, so I guess you can call anytime. When I did it in March, I called and was told someone would call me back to schedule it. Then, I just went to my appointment, handed over my GC and got the stamp. I used ask Emma to get the conversation started I think.

When my daughter in law submitted all her documents for the J1 Waiver, she was about to get married and stated this in the Statement of Reason. She is now married to a US Citizen and wants to update the Statement of Reason.

    Here are my questions:

    1. Is there a way to update it?

    2. Should she create a new one?

3.Should she update it with her marriage status, which is the primary reason for the waiver?

    Thanks!

When did she apply? I don' think there's a way to update it. Was the statement of reason to receive the No Objection letter? If her country already issued it then it doesn't matter. I also married after applying and said I wanted to get married to get my No Objection letter. Everything went smoothly for me.

Has anyone had their Citizenship interview recently?  I heard from some people that the Civics test was done on a tablet???  Usually, questions are asked orally so I'm kind of shocked that would occur.  So I just wanted to confirm if anyone that recently took the Civics test during the interview got a tablet test.  Thank you.

I had my interview May 10. The tablet was for the writing portion. All questions were asked orally.

Has anyone traveled with a stamp on their passport to extend green card? I called to schedule an Infopass appt since my i751 is still pending 18 months later. I need to travel in August but I’m just a bit scared just having the stamp, and also my passport has my maiden name while other identification cards (green card, license, etc) have my married last name. Do you think that’ll be an issue?

I’m hoping my i751 & n400 are done by then, but want to be sure the stamp is reliable in case I need it.

    thanks!

I haven't traveled with the stamp but for the name change you should bring your marriage certificate with you (or whatever document proves the name change). The plane ticket name should match your passport name.

I traveled with the extension letter and didn't have issues. I imagine using the stamp is the same.

I had my combo interview this morning. I got the dreaded "decision cannot be made". The officer said because I had a pending GC he couldn't approve me on the spot but he was recommending my case for approval. That I should get something in the mail in 30 days. I'm so f%$%% disappointed. I know they are doing same day oaths because we heard someone was given those instructions while we were waiting. The journey continues.

The officer did not want to talk to my husband, he was asked to stay in the waiting room. The only extra documents the officer wanted were latest tax return, latest mortgage statement, home owners insurance, and latest bank statements. That's all. TBH the officer wasn't the nicest but I'm glad I'm comfortable speaking English and I think I did my best to stay calm and answer all his questions.

Here are the questions I was asked for N-400.

Read: Where is the White House? Write: The White House is in Washington DC.

What is one state that borders Canada?

What are two rights in the Declaration of Independence?

What is one war fought by the US in the 1900?

Who did the US fight in WW2?

What did the Emancipation Proclamation do?

What did the Declaration of Independence do?

Update, my online status just changed to "On May 11, 2021, we approved your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence".

Thank you cosmonauts! I was waiting for your feedback since I have my interview this Thursday at San Bernardino Filed Office.

So even they sent I-751 interview notice they didn't want to do a combo interview? instead they only did the N-400 with you?

Sorry I wasn't clear. They did both interviews. First, N-400, then I-751. My husband was asked to stay in the waiting room for all of it.

  11. I think I had a similar case. I also moved in to a house my husband owned and I wasn't in the bills, still am not. This is what we sent for ROC in July 2019 and we didn't get an RFE. I later sent more documents for 2019-2020 with my N-400 application. I hope this helps.

For the bank and credit card statements, I think we sent 1 per quarter from when the accounts were opened. You could also send the previous lease just in your spouse's name and explain why that was.

    Copy of marriage certificate

Copy of house deed showing joint ownership of community residence (this happened right before ROC, didn't have it for GC)

Copy of car title showing joint ownership

Copy of car insurance showing joint coverage

Statements from X Bank showing joint checking and savings account

Statements from X Credit Union showing joint checking and savings account

Statements from X Bank showing joint checking account

Statements and transaction history from X credit card showing applicant as account owner and spouse as authorized user

Statements and transaction history from X credit card showing spouse 1 and spouse 2 as account owners

Joint federal and state tax returns for the years 2017 and 2018

Employer benefits summary from spouse showing applicant as beneficiary

spouse's life insurance policy showing applicant as beneficiary

spouse's retirement plan showing applicant as beneficiary

Applicant's pension beneficiary election showing spouse as beneficiary

Utility bills as proof of shared address (not joint, one had my name, one had his)

Copy of spouse and applicant driver licences as proof of shared address

Printed pictures of the couple and friends at different social events

  12.

Question for those who have attended their interviews:

The interview notice says to bring all travel documents used to enter the US, including passports, advance parole, and I-94s. My interview is next Monday and I can't get I-94s. The website says there's no records to show! Then there's a note that says this: Note: The info returned may not reflect applications submitted to or benefits received by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services or Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Did you get I-94s? If not, was it a problem? I will bring the two passports I've had since being here and they have stamps for all my travels.

    Thanks!

Congrats. I received two seperate notices as well. In the end, my wife didn't even need to come inside with me. Hope yours is the same

Was your wife allowed at the oath ceremony?

Wife is finally a US Citizen! She had her interview this morning and the oath ceremony followed immediately after. The interview was on the second floor and the oath was on the first floor. Appointment was at 7:30am and by 9:30am we were done and on our way. Glad to finally be done with the process. VisaJourney has been a great resource the past few years.

Were you allowed at the oath ceremony?

Yesterday I received an email saying "an action has been taken, please check your account". I logged in and it said interview has been scheduled, a notice has been mailed!! So I'm waiting for the paper notice to know the date. I'll update you on that as soon as I get it.

I applied in June 2020. I still have I-751 pending since July 2019. I got my passport stamped March 2021.

I got my interview notice! Interview scheduled for May 10. I got two notices, one for each case so I'm expecting a combo interview.
