  1. Just called NVC to know if our case is completed. The representative lady told me that we will have another checklist shortly for the police certificate. But we already received a checklist last month for the same police certificate. She told me that they don't have it. She also suggested me to send the police certificate before receiving the checklist.

I am really upset at this moment. Shall i believe on what she said? i have copies of the documents that i sent on our last checklist SD 29th June which includes the police certificate and also i have given the case number on every page.

    any advice???

oh joy, i guess that's there message of the day. I was told about missing PCC today as well, this is after they said i have no checklist item other than ds-260. I am not going to send it for now, and talk to another rep or supervisor. ugh.

  2. thanks for making me giggle Darnell, its been tough couple days, i need it :)

while you are on your list of mum calling, can you call nvc's mum to help me out? thank you

My interview has been scheduled for early August but I still have not gotten the interview letter so my wife can schedule her medical.

hardeep looks like most people got their email for interview, you did not? if so i would call nvc as it seems mohali takes their sweet time with medical as well.

the email printout should be good enough to take to the medical

  3. Finally I received welcome letter from nvc. I have read the wiki by saylin.I wanted to update time line but I am not sure how to figure out the date nvc received my case xxx2015567*** how to calculate date from this number.

    thanks in advance.

2015 is year. next 3 are days e.g. if your is 567 then it is 567-500 and 67th day is march 7th

quoting ms saylin from the wiki

How to Find Out WHEN Your Case Number was Assigned

For those that don't call every single day and want to know exactly what date their case number was assigned, there's an easy way to find out that simply involves looking at your case number. The first three letters are the three-letter consulate/embassy code. The next four numbers are the year the case number was assigned. The next three numbers are the Julian date it was assigned, plus 500. And finally, the last three numbers are the sequential order of when it was assigned that date. You can find a chart with Julian dates here [12].

For example: MTL2014815162. Let's put some lines in to divide it up. So: MTL|2014|815|162. This means that this case is going through Montreal and the number was assigned on November 11th, 2014, and it was the 162nd case that day to be assigned a number.

  4. Sivin, i am confused with your situation, only the beneficiary's PCC is needed. e.g. i sent my husband's PCC from regional passport office and to be safe we got one from local police as well. I did not send a PCC for me 'coz i am the USC (petitioner) and even i am an OCI.

not sure who is the beneficiary in your case, you only need theirs not the petitioners. hope this helps, if not ping me and we can discuss further.

  5. Hi everyone,

Quick update: I got a letter from my senator that stated that the NVC received my IV invoice in april. No other update about my DS260 which i turned in May 4th & i was put in supervisor review june 16th (supervisor review is pretty much BS)., i decided to call and talk to a supervisor and use that letter as leverage. I was able to get through to a supervisor and I got him to check my documents, and to clarify everything. I asked him if i had a case complete. He confirmed saying that I did and all i had to do is wait for an appointment date from the embassy. yaaay! (im still traumatized, and will call later this week to confirm).

    I have 3 n/a's!!!

from the 3 n/a's it looks like a CC to me :) congrats.....

  6. Thanks TeJoGB

Yes I do have the tracking information. And I will wait for few more days to see if I get a confirmation. However I keep noticing people talking about N/A. For both AOS and Civil documents it is showing N/A. Does anyone know what does it stand for. I know the only speculation I have seen is case complete but I had it even before I submitted DS-260 today.

the n/a next to docs and aos will remain there. the n/a for cc they are talking about is aos fee changes from paid to n/a when there is case complete.

  7. Submitted DS-260 after the IV fee was cleared last night. MY AOS and IV package was received by NVC on 6 July but NVC says they have not received it yet. I have also not received any email confirmations.

do you have courier confirmation it was delivered? if so, dont worry, it took them one week to email me that they received it. they are swamped this week as you may guess

yup morgan, planning to do that, lets see. but in a way silver lining is my documents are correct :)

  8. check out NVC site for china:

    http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country/CH.html#birth-1

    Birth

Available in the form of notarial certificates, which are secondary evidence. Notarial certificates of birth (Chu Sheng Gong Zheng Shu or Chu Sheng Zheng Ming Shu) for persons living in or recently departed from China are generally reliable, but are best used in conjunction with other evidence. They are most often based upon an AHHR, (Household Record) which is easily susceptible to fraud, especially in villages. Notarial birth certificates for persons long departed from China are most likely based merely upon the testimony of interested parties.

While some notarial birth certificates will list stepparents or adoptive parents along with natural parents, this is not always the case. In some cases, the certificates will list only the natural parents, covering up an adoption.

Some applicants will present notarial certificates of relationship (Guan Xi Gong Zheng [or Zheng Ming] Shu) in lieu of notarial birth certificates. These certificates of relationship are unreliable and tend to be based solely upon the testimony of interested parties. Notarial birth certificates should be required. Care should be taken with any certificate that lists step relationships. These relationships are as of the date of issuance of the certificate only. Marriage certificates should also be required.
