I would give it a try! Include everything you can - maybe emails from daycare providers stating they are full etc and make a case that it would greatly assist your family in terms of emotional and financial. Of course it is not a work visa but family support really helps and financial hardship is one of the reasons and this ties in.  I would just send as much as you can with a clear explanation.  The worst they can say is no...

My mom was Dq'd in Jan and my dad in March and we received their interview yesterday for August 3rd.  Just for info if it helps at all.  It seems a lot of marriage ones got interviews with similar DQ times as my parents.

Thank you for the reply, her interview just got scheduled for September 9th! :)

  3. We are currently petitioning for my mum (UK citizen) to move to the US. She was DQ'd about a month ago. We desperately need here here by mid-August as she plans to be our full-time nanny and there is currently no childcare openings in our area, with long waitlists, and the prices are comparable to our mortgage payment.

Would we be eligible for an expedite request on the basis she will be providing childcare for us?

    Thanks in advance for reading.

Hi, we had our IR-5 approved by NVC in June 2020.

We have just received letters from NVC advising us of our interview date which is in June and our medicals are booked beforehand. Have a slight issue getting an updated Police Certificate though (the previous one had expired)..and had to pay an extra £40 each to get them expedited or they would not arrive in time for medical!

The Embassy seem to be getting through the applications quite quickly now, especially since the tier system was introduced.

I'm sure you will get an email soon. :)

Thank you, I really hope so.

Sorry! I think I may have misunderstood what you said. I thought you had been notified that your mum's case had gone to the embassy for an interview, which is why I was surprised.
My understanding is that the case goes to London when the embassy tells the NVC they have interview appointments available. Presumably in chronological order of when the case was created or documentarily qualified.

I see. We got an email last week saying that NVC was sending our case to the embassy but nothing since then.

    Your status here https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

My parents each separately (2 applications) got emails saying they had received the case and that the embassy would contact them re an appointment. My mums came about a day after my dads and on each occasion it was about 6 - 9 hours after that email that the AIS website let them register and move forward. I just kept refreshing every 15 minutes and trying to register them on there and once it accepted it I knew it had gone all the way through. The main CEAC site just kept saying at embassy or NVC but didn't seem to have any relationship to being free to do the AIS steps.

Someone more knowledgable might have a better idea how but I just blunt forced it until AIS let me in

    Super helpful, thank you both!

*As soon as you get that email (I got one that said appointments had been cancelled, obviously they didn't have one, and then a follow up with the text The U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in LONDON, GRBR approved your request for expedited processing of your immigrant visa application. The National Visa Center sent your immigrant visa application to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in LONDON, GRBR for their action. The Embassy/Consulate General will contact you soon to schedule a visa interview.

If you have questions about your visa interview, please visit the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General's website at https://www.usembassy.gov.)

From there try to create an account on the AIS site (https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv) if the embassy has all the information they need and the file then you should be able to see appointments and schedule one. Make sure to check back often as an option to try to find a cancellation if it's a ways away. Hopefully that helps ...

Thank you for the information! How do I know if they have received her file from the NVC yet?

  8. I am petitioning for my mum to move to the US.

NVC said they were approving all of her documents and sending them to the London Embassy last week. Does anyone know how much longer we can anticipate this process taking? I am aware there is a backlog due to the pandemic. We applied in August 2020.

  9. Yes, we are hoping to visit my mum next month and my understanding is that we will need a negative test result 72 hours or less prior to departure, to test on day 2 and 8 per the government guidelines (we also plan to test out on day 5 if possible) and then a test prior to flying home.

We will quarantine until we can test out at a family members home.

Really disappointed that we are not slated to be on the green list, being on the amber list is no different to how things have been this whole time.

You do nt see many from the UK sponsoring Parents due I think mainly the Health Insurance issues, but if she is young enough to get a decent job with benefits and build up SS contributions then of course it is different.

That's understandable. With all things considered, I still feel it is best for her to move to us, and she agrees.

Can anyone answer my question about which office handles the applications for parents? Is it state dependent?

The I-130 takes around 10 months. Then NVC around 3-4 months before you have an interview date. Overall 12-15 months since you file the I-130.

I filed the I-130 for my mom in July 2017, interview in October 2018, landed in the US Nov 2018.

Sorry for the delayed reply I haven't been on VJ for awhile. This is great news, thank you.

Do all applications get sent to the NVC or does it depend on where you file from?

Congratulations.  Thanks for posting this because I recently became a naturalized citizen and am planning to bring my parents over as well!  Good luck in your journey!

    Yay! When are you filing?

Congratulations. All the boxes are blue. I loved that part.

Guys, click on her timeline and look at the K1 part. 😳😲

Thank you for the congratulations! Yup, I was very blessed during the K1 part of our visa journey, it was super speedy and received a lot of heat on VJ as a result, to the point where I had to take a break because I got so many unkind private messages :(
