    Post office.

Post office is the most common place. Usually the passport services charge more than need be in my opinion. Look online, lots of times you can get them done at library's or other city offices like the clerk of courts, etc. If you want to speed things up anyway you plan on doing it, you can fill out the application online and print it out. This puts you into the system electronically and when you print the application it puts a special bar code on your application. When you go get the oath administered by employee at post office or wherever, they sign off on the form, and you sign it and mail it in with money order. The advantage is when it gets to the passport center they scan the barcode and all the information is already in the computer. Makes the process faster. Can cut it from 4-5 weeks down to 2-3 weeks until passport is in your hands.

bahamamama234 reacted to ksp9 in Oath ceremony but I don't have a 10 year green card
All they need any document that was given by USCIS to be returned back. So if you haven't received your 10 year green card then don't worry since you would have been interviewed while your ROC was pending right? So it's fine. Take what ever documents have been issued to you by USICS includes Green cards, I94, others?

    You should be fine.

    Ok guys so..
As most of you know I applied for my i751 ROC NOV/2016. N400 UNDER 3YR RULE NOV/2017.
I got letter ROC was transferred to NBC in May.
June I got interview for N400 scheduled for today.

Today I went to my interview with my spouse (We live in LA all papers were filled in LA also)
We arrived at the building, got transferred to a different room, then we waited about 40 minute (Yeah I know, kinda long.)
A very nice and young latina USCIS officer called my name to enter the interview room, I said does my husband has to come in? She said no if we need him we call him.. I said ok
As we walking to the room she told me ''I wont be able to approve your n400 interview today because your I751 is still pending.)
So when we sat down, I told her, it has been pending for 22 months, can't we do an interview now with my spouse? She said Yeah I know, Unfortunately we are very back logged with those I751'S and we are very limited in the number of officers who can interview for it and adjudicate these petitions.. Let's go ahead with you n400 and if I can I will try to ask the office to interview you today for I751 if not you will go home and wait for notice about it...

Frustrating to be honest with you guys.. but what could I say or do?

So we went ahead with n400, first she went through my application and asked some basic stuff, then she asked if I have any joint papers with my spouse, I said yes, I left her IRS joint transcripts, joint bank statements/ electricity/ internet/ trips.
She put it all in her desk and then asked simple question to read and write.
Then she asked me 6 questions - What is the name of chief of justice? How many members are there in the house of representatives ? How many years we elect a representative? and 3 more questions, I passed, then on to yes and no...

So she left all docs in her desk and told me to wait with my spouse outside cause if they could interview for i751 they would. If not she would tell me.
5 minutes later she came out and said'' Our officer is backlogged today, but he said you prob wont need interview just a look at your case, I will leave the docs you brought today for him to look and wait to receive a notice from us at your mail about it.''

So it seems kinda positive in my opinion, It seems as all the officer needs to do is look at my case and send me my hopefully approval and oath date..
Yet why couldn't them get it done while I was there?
I don't get it... But I am not about to argue with them lol

I will try to schedule an info pass for a stamp on my passport and if by then I haven't heard anything I will ask them to double check my case.
I have a paper says I passed the test but decision can not be made yet.
If you have any advice to me please give.

I did mention that September new rule to her, she kinda giggled and told me '' that new policy is yet under review'' Seemed like as she was saying it won't really go through but IDK.. Thought I would mention here.

So when I check the new website it says

    July 16, 2018
    We scheduled your naturalization ceremony
View your letter on your documents tab for the ceremony date, time, and location
Note: It may take up to a few days for your letter to show on your documents tab.
You will take the Oath of Allegiance and receive your Certificate of Naturalization at your ceremony. You will also return your Green Card and answer questions about your activity since your interview.
You will also have the opportunity to apply for a U.S. Passport/Passport Card, register to vote, and update your Social Security record.
    What to bring
Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony (N-445) Permanent Resident Card

I guess I will bring my old green card since I still only have that? lol Also I do not see the interview notice in my documents tab... I will wait a bit and will prob get updated tho

(I am hoping the service request I put online for my roc which said I will have answer by 26th wont mess up with my oath ceremony interview, but it prob can't right?)

    Hey Guys!!!

Omg if this is correct I am so excited and God is indeed real because I prayed about it and I just checked my case online , my receipt number for n400 and it says

    ''
    Oath Ceremony Notice Was Mailed
We scheduled your oath ceremony for Receipt Number xxxxxxxx e sent a notice with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony to the address you gave us. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your notice by August 15, 2018, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.''

So I guess that officer wasn't playing with me when she said she spoke to the person that approves ROC and all he needed to do was take a look and I would get a letter in the mail I will keep u guys updated if indeed I receive this letter in mail! So Thankfull, hoping this is correct!!! God bless everyone who was been helping and accompanying my journey and hopefully many more people in similar situation get good news soon.

I have a similar experience. I had the interview back in May and I didn’t bring my wife with me(not knowing I should). And waited two months until it got approved(after many calls and request to uscis, and a day after I went for my infopass appointment for the stamp). I strongly encourage you to make infopass every two weeks to remind them.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I can only imagine how nerve-wrecking it must have been for you to finally see the light at the end of your visa journey tunnel, only to have it get dimmed out. Keep positive, something good will prevail!

Thank you for sharing...it does sounds positive. They don't invertiview everybody for I751, so they might just approve you without further interviews. Hope everything goes well for you (that  includes not having to wait much longer!). Please share with us when you receive a final decision. Good luck, and thanks again.

Glad you passed the interview even if a decision could not be made. Not much you can do really other than pray the said officer reviews your file and approves the i751 without an interview soon. I agree that scheduling an infopass and asking about it is a good idea if nothing has happened in the next couple of weeks. Good luck.

Interesting thanks for sharing! I applied Roc in Nov of 2016 ... nov 2017 n400 and only have my interview next week.. seems california has been slow.  I did get transfer of my case to Missouri (roc case). I've asked about it on avvoo to some lawyers and here is what I've heard guys.. that normally that happens just to get you an interview scheduled and that day of your n400 interview it should be joint with ROC. It seems some immigration workers get confused and don't know about this process tho... So I am going on my n400 interview and i am not coming back home they better interview me and my spouse right then and there because is been 20 months pending of roc and that's just too much.

    Hey guys,

    I had my interview yesterday.
I didn't wait too long at first, the officer called me and said we'll do the citizenship test first (I had a I751 pending).
I read and wrote what he asked and then to the civics part, the questions were:
    1. What is freedom of religion?
    2. How many U.S. Senators are there?
    3. Name one state that borders Canada.
    4. What ocean is on the west coast of the United States?
    5. When was the constitution written?
    6. Who is one of your state US Senator now?

After that, he said he can't approve me because of my I751 and asked if my spouse is with me, I told him yes and he said he will talk to both of us later. He asked me several more questions and asked to look at the paperwork I brought. He made copies of what he wanted and told me to wait outside until he'll call us. After 2 hours, he called us and we had an interview. He asked what else do I have to show him, I told him pictures. He looked at them and told us he will try to approve all today so if we can have a seat outside. After a while another officer came and said they're having issues with the system and she'll call me to let me know.
Hours later she did call me and said everything is approved and to come to the ceremony tomorrow (7/13/18)!
Can't believe that only hours away I will be done with USCIS.
I'll write here later about the ceremony.

THANK YOU to everybody on this wonderful forum who helped me be prepered for every step of this long journey

You will have a combined interview for I-751 and N-400 if your I-751 is pending. This is a standard procedure these days. Make sure to go with your spouse to the interview. The IO most probably will interview you and your spouse jointly for the ROC part and interview you separately for N-400. Best wishes.

I am in Detroit and I wanted to take my wife with me but she couldn’t make it. I ended up taking 2 briefcases: 1 with all the originals since I applied for a US visa, bank statements, affidavits, photos ,...etc and the other with copies of everything. I think each one had like 600 pages.

I went in and the officer didn’t ask about my spouse and told me we are doing a combined interview. He asked for my ID and green card, I gave him the ID and passport. He pulled up an affidavit that I got my card confiscated and didn’t replace it, that I needed to sign and called another officer as a witness to. He informed me I will need to take it to the oath if I pass.

He went through my file and asked for my latest bank statements from the time I applied to N400 to date. I pulled them out and he scanned them. Then he reviewed basic info with me and asked the normal questions like are you a terrorist, communist, criminal,... and checked the folder quickly for what I submitted and told me my I-751 is approved and we will proceed to the N400 part.

He asked me if I want to change my name. He printed some questions and asked me 6/10 questions that I answered, asked me to read a question and write the answer  he dictated. He asked me questions covering my willingness to be sworn in like if I am willing to defend the country, renounce alliegence to other countries,...

then he Gave me a summary and told me I passed but I will see only recommended for approval till the next update at which point it will be approved. He explained what I need to take to the oath ceremony and the location of the passport agency and how to get an expedited passport if I need one.

he then shoke my hand, saying welcome to America and escorted me out

I would advise to bring your spouse. When I asked about the ROC approval, the IO asked my spouse to come and asked her a few questions, even if my spouse was not supposed to be there. Regarding papers, bring updates of what you have submitted for the n400 such as a few bills and bank statements from the last months.

I heard of a lot of people going to n400 interview and some don't mention about ROC so they getting citizenship and roc still pending lol and they already have american passports

Others are only mentioning ROC after n400 interview gets done and passed...

I guess depends on your location and what not but is a shame not all their workers are following the same protocol and making it less dreadful to us
