  1. I was naturalized after arriving on K visa, marrying, adjusting status. I applied on three year rule as had just received ten year green cards.

we just received a letter from USCIS asking that my daughter fill out form i-90  as she needs a new permanent residence card, as she had already gained permanent residence when my I-751 aplication was approved.. They said she did not need to file this form- but she was on my form as its ask for her to file with the paren as she arrived with me on k visas. I've to fill in I-90and use the reason my card was filled with incorrect information because oh DHS error. They wll then arrange biometrics for my daughter.

As it is im applying for a  passport for my daughter once i receive the  death certificate for her father as she  is under 16.

My husband says ignore it but not sue what to do he thinks its just an error

  2. I sent mine back for name change. It took 4 weeks and that's with me having to resend in pics. So very quick. They send tracking info and it took 2-3 days from when I got that alert as shipped through FedEx. Again very fast. I think you'll be fine.

  3. I used transglobal express. They came day before we were due to immigrate and took boxes ( we shipped 5 boxes £200- reasonable size got them from office supplies or somewhere)shipped  clothes shoes toys,  Books photos etc. My daughter's school stuff.  Can't ship liquids. Put them in your luggage. Remember electricals need adaptors so we left and bought knew. US work on 120 volts. Transglobal were excellent play about with box sizes and weights to get best prices. Our boxes arrived within tens of them pucking up from UK. No issues all intact.

  4. HI, I assume you've looked at all insurance company websites and applied prospectively. I applied for a couple of positions that were not in my field as such( i was area sales representative back home in the UK) and had a choice of positions. One was with insurance( never done insurance)) they just wanted someone with customer experience_ which you will have in abundance) I was expected to get state qualified sit my exams.THis was with American Family Insurance- maybe try them if you haven't already. I actually took a job working in a bank again no banking experience what so ever, and am really enjoying it- they are teaching me banking. If your interested Woodforest bank are always looking for people- maybe where you live as they don't have branches in all states. I found Glassdoor and Indeed really helpful in looking for jobs and set up alerts for lots of potential positions.

Never came across the do you have any experience in US- maybe because they saw from CV my work history was UK based.

    Hope this helps.

Keep looking you will get something real son

  5. AZ Sunshine- Don't think CSA has the authority to interfere in the visa process. Theyre called "child maintenance department" now working under work and pensions.

I say this as Im on the opposite side of your situation.

American CSA laws are very different from the UK. The US and UK have a reciprocal agreement but it's very hard to enforce. I went to my local Family services department in my home town(USA) to see if they could help get payment from my EX in the UK. Its a long complicated process and we're still waiting to hear anything ( been roughly 6 months when we first went to our lawyers.

We were told if it's not been rubber stamped by a judge then we probably have to reapply via US courts/department etc.. We still don't have any definite answers.

Maybe your fiance should discuss it with his ex and come to an agreement for when he gets more settled in USA. At least talk discuss it.

PS you are not liable for his Children you don't pay for them as theyre, not your responsibility( I have a friend who has a friend that deals with International Child support) and she clarified this point strongly.

Its a tricky one and even speaking to lawyers( i did on both sides before and after and never got straight answer from either) Try sort it yourselves- will his children be coming to visit etc- who pays for that etc..

    Hope this helps

Hello, I have exactly the same question.  Any links to the other posts that might help?  Thanks

Hi, To take the children to America with you will probably need a court order if the father is refusing.

It took me 18months going through the Scottish courts. English courts are prob quicker and easier I was told by my lawyer( he said if I was in England I would have won sooner based on my circumstances/evidence)

The link you found is correct in parts in that the court will base their decision on what is in the best interests of the child- theyre only concern is the welfare of the child. Hence you need to put forward a very strong case on why the child should move with you.

10 months down the line best decision i ever made my daughter is flourishing here.

if you need any info  message me privately. My case was different as all cases are.

    good luck.

  7. It all depends on traffic in the afternoon- how are you getting to gatwick from embassy- i remember when i went the afternoon traffic was horrendous. The embassy interview can take anything from 45 mins to couple of hours. In our case we had an issue with my daughters DS form so we had to go back to embassy at 3pm, hence we were not out till 3.45pm. Most cases are relatively quick my first interview there i was in and out in 90 mins.

Also if you turn up early they may let you in- we arrived an hour early and got in early.

Remember you wont have your passport- so have other ID for trip back to Glasgow.

I would er on the 7pm flight just in case- less stress.

  8. Your photos dont need to be identical. You need photos at different steps of this whole procedure- even when you AOS later, and then your picture on green card is the one they take at Biometrics. They will see its you in the photos  thats all that matters

  9. HI,

Ive been there and went through the whole process.

I was governed by Sots law- which made it even harder to get specific issue order for my daughter to leave with me.

My lawyer did say under English law i would have been on plane months ago.

We did win our landmark case- as my lawyer said its very unusual for courts to grant permission, but in our case we were successful.

I can offer you advice tell you more if you want, but please message me privately.

    Good luck

  10. all interesting reading- we filled mid September NOA received end of Sept, Biometrics done late November in Detroit. Received RFE for more evidence re his income as self employed. NOA that they received was Dec 20th. Still no AP or EAD put in a case update request mid January to be told case reverts back to 0. I thought the AOS would take longer re the RFE but I thought it wouldn't affect the EAD and AP. Desperate to get SSN for my child for health insurance (need it to finalize paperwork). Were not in a hurry for me to work though my AP wold be nice as would like to travel to Niagara Falls. My case numbers are MSC so are all my cases at NBC even though we had bios done in Detroit. I'm so confused now.

  11. I sent of AOS paperwork and was notified that they had my papers end October. I had a RFE for more  evidence to pack up Husbands self employment history/ earnings. they recieved this mid December. We still dont have AP or EAD was hoping to get daughters SSN for taxes soon. We are under MSC case  numbers does this have a bearing o ot are they just slow. Its not that we are desperate for me to work, Husband has liked having me around during the day, making coffee and lunch and shopping of course. we were just hoping it would be through soon so we can go to Niagra Falls next month as we will be up that way visiting.

  12. I sent in my AOS papers end September and we got  a RFE for more evidence for financials( husband is self employed) middle of December. Done Bio metrics in Detroit late November. USCIS received further evidence on 20th DEC. Our case numbers start with MSC. I did send in request for update as thought its taking so long and reply was  it restarts to zero count as they asked for intial evidence.( the RFE letter did say all was ok but they just wanted some more evidence to back up his self employment figures). Visa journey says i should have had my AP and EAD by Jan 20th. Were not in a hurry for me to work but it would be nice to have the AP in case we want to travel and also SSN for my daughter( shes a minor). Is this the norm. Is it that my case is handled by Nebraska( think  i read that MSC case numbers were here). We also have to do taxes soon and it would help if we had SSN  for my daughter- also for insurance.

  13. depends what was given to you at Knightsbridge. I only received copies of the Vaccination report from knightsbridge.

At the embassy i was given my xray cd.

For AOS i sent in copies of my Vaccination report- I think lol i cant remember but that big envelope that we handed over at immigration will have your medical details in it etc.

Not sure if this helps, but i didnt hand anything else in for AOS

    Congrats on the wedding .

  14. I just got my Ohio driving license- thought i might have been told to come back with the proper paperwork as when reading up on recent ones they said you require your EAD to get license. I only had my  i-797 for AOS,  SSN in maiden name, passport with the K1 visas in it. At least i have a photographic ID now while I wait for green card. The driving test wasnt that bad actually all over in 10 mins.

  15. Hi I just got my drivers license from state of Ohio valid till end of 2020, Sat my computer test last week actual driving test today. I only had marriage certificate, Uk passport with our K1 visa in it,  SSN in maiden name ( as cant change till i get my EAD card)and my i-797 notice of action. The office called their head department to confirm all ok and after 30 mins of filling in paperwork i had my Ohio driving license.
