  1. Hi

I have a question that relates to parents having to send their children back home to uk to see the other parent thats still in UK. Has anyone used the unaccompanied minors airline program and how was it. My child will have to retuen for possibly 6 weeks to see their dad- i will not be able to return for such a length of time and no real desire as all my old friends will be working and hell not want t see me though that feeling is mutual. just looking for feedback any hints whats the best airline etc. Many thanks for any help/guidance

  2. They all go through Administrative processing, next it will go to issued. Dont worry its just them finalizing things putting the visa in your passport. Has it been over 2 weeks, is that why your worried. sometimes it can take a bit longer. Think there is a thread posted by nich.nick showing how long it took some people .

  3. Im hoping thats the case- means i have my number to book interview medical etc, i was just worried if i need to do readiness form again and it confuses things. i was just hoping someone has done re-issue nad knew for exact. but you are probably right. you seem to bang on for everything else, fingers crossed.

  4. Hi i have a question im not sure if anyone can help with this one.

I applied for K1/K2 visas and was approved last year only to have to ask embassy to reissue as they had expired due to court procedures with ex and requiring specific issue order to leave with child.

The london embassy have kept my application open on hold(they've kept all our paperwork) though i need to submit court docs to them then they will tell me to do medicals interview payments etc all again i assume ( in email it said they will advise me of next steps - in my letter it said i was required to medical, interview etc )

The question is do i get a new LND number or use the one i have. Im wondering if anyone has been through this process before. yes im stressing out re times also what with new procedure im not sure what will happen. im probably worrying about nothing

  5. the way i look at it is when you get your LND number the ball is then in your court, you can phone doctors get an appointment asap for medicals , submit readiness form and look to book you interview asap so long as you leave at least 7 days between medicals and interview. once you have interview and you get approved you should have visas/passports 2 weeks later, maybe 3. Bearing in mind your approved you get to immigrate get married start your new life with your fiance and new family. so it might be a bit of a rush/ stressfull at least your there you have your whole life ahead of yous as a family. enjoy. then start the new process of adjusting status in USA

  6. Have you spoken/ emailed your daughters future school, All schools seem to have different end/ start times. Ohio finish up first week June but there not due back till sept( new school building). My enrolling officer will book me in for an appointment first day they are back as i will not be there until at least end July/ August all going well. My school know we are intend on immigrating and new school will do paperwork for getting daughters records sent over( think its all electronic now so no real delay). Just make sure she has all necessary shots for school. it wont be long and before you know it youll be looking at flights to book at last.

  7. that could be but come june summer is well and started if anything i would have thought summer visas would be issued around April/ May ready to travel June. maybe its longer as theres just so many people able to book visa appointments themselves now. Though I always assumed that they would process x amount of K1/Cr1 types per day. Maybe theres just lots of applicants . Time will tell we just have to wait and take what we can

  8. yikes so it looks like it will be 6 weeks once we get our LND number to book medicals and interview and submit readiness form. I was hoping it would stay at the 4/5 week mark.Hope it doesnt go over the 6 week mark as id be looking to leave end july/early august for start of school for my child. im just waiting on courts so even now im still guessing at when ill be able to. oh the stress.

  9. I wish it was as easy as one flight but flying from Scotland doesn't always give you a lot of choices for final destinations in USA and the ones that are available- are too far away from your new home. America sure is vast.

Anyway its fun trying to negotiate through strange airports worrying about connections, luggage, children. But the best part is your finally there in USA ready to start your new life with your loved ones, so if it takes couple of connections I can live with that.

  10. Its interesting the different search engines we use for flights - netflights which is new to me- I found to be good with some pricing and airlines- it has made me look at icelandair as they give you 2 cases at 23kg checked baggage so thats a plus in that it will save me with shipping costs possibly. My problem is i have to fly from Scotland to either chicago or detroit so it narrows down your searches( as much as i love flying when immigrating with child and lots of luggage maybe and POE to consider you want an easy route ).Im also unfortunate that in that I dont have air miles to use (which is a big plus certainly something to bear in mind going forward with flights home etc).

Thank you for you replys its given me some research to do keeps me busy will we wait .

  11. Hi

I am wondering about flights from uk to usa for when visa is approved, is there a best website - does anyone have excellent results with specific flight searches. I know when we go to book we will be looking for flights leaving within 4 weeks max. the sooner the better. theres so many websites it starts to get confusing at what ones youve checked . These are mainly return flights

I have found skiplagged.com which does one way flights- on this i have found flights scotland to detroit for £345 though this is based on maybe low seasons, taand sometimes its bit longer travel time but money well saved which can be used eleswhere. Is it better to book direct with airlines. I will be probably traveling through summer months July/August which can be costly. Ive even looked at london flights and wow they seemed over expensive .

  12. it will be interesting to see how long it takes to get interview appointment if we are to arrange it ourselves. I assume they will have so many time slots available per day and it will be first come first served. Im waiting to reschedule my appointment which i hope will be soon, so not sure how this will affect me as I was given instructions to contact the embassy once i have court documents. I will be watching to see how it goes for futures K1/K2 applicants.

  13. we just send a couple of pages like a story on how we met 27 years ago upuntil how we met again just recently , what we did on our visit to see each other again, some history about our family, pictures were scanned onto the document.

it wasnt a lot of pages.

even at interview i had cards flight tickets etc they didnt ask to see, but reassuring to have on me.

    good luck

  14. your mum is right its a waste on money- i wore jeans, trainers, jumper and a heavy jacket as did my daughter( we were just before christmas). Your dress code is not under scrutiny. just wear comfortable clothing for waiting outisde for maybe 10-30 mins and then for sitting in a large waiting room with .ots of other people .good luck

  15. Which explains the supervised visits. I think when you get to America consult a lawyer there, they can mirror the court orders made in uk or adjust maybe - that's something only you and a lawyer can decide on. If your fiance can look into it before you get there it may help cover some ground, Your ex lives in a different state that may play a factor in it as well..

  16. Her dad is American and you will be moving over there albeit to marry someone else. I would think you might need to consult with an American lawyer to get things legal once there. Surley the fact that you will both (her dad) life in same country will make things easier. Maybe ask your American Fiance to make enquiries at his end as to what is required, you have the court notarised documents from England so that will help surely with American legal system.

  17. Brilliant news Im really pleased for you, I assume the ex didnt contest /put up much of a fight. They never asked me at my interview for any court papers in regard to my child, doubt they will ask you, but it will help with school as from what ive researched they want proof you have the right to enrol your child in their school.

Im under Scottish law and its been slow due to court fixtures- i started this application a year ago.!! and im not guaranteed as hes fighting it so its up to a Sheriff to decide if its in the best interest of the child to relocate to USA with me.. Theres not a lot of winning cases.

Good luck in April and all the best for your Wedding. xx

  18. Hi -This is wonderful news.

Im glad the courts have acted quickly for you and arranged your hearings. Have you actually been to court and been granted the specific issue order to leave, if so I'm really happy for you, it certainly gives me hope that a sheriff will find in our favor also.

Im due back in court soon and even then ive been told i will need more dates after these. Its been a long process for us-its just taking so long to give the evidence.

Really happy for you, good luck at the interview which you wont need its just them crossing the t's and dotting the i's making sure everything is in order, before they stamp your passports.

  19. Your right the embassy's dont ask about other parents consent- I assume they think youve got permission if required as otherwise it would be child abduction. When i went for my interview i wasnt asked if the father had given me permission.

The tricky bit is if he suddenly wants his child back then he could go to court and lodge papers for her to be returned. Or if he suddenly decides at last minute to put interdict on their passport so he can decide if he wants to see them-

If the other parent has Parental rights its best to get approval from the parent left behind.

All countires are different in regards to these laws. best ask a lawyer.

Nice to hear you were lucky and had no issues as he agreed to his child moving to USA.

  20. Glad you've started the procedure for permission to remove children. The thing that slows it down is getting court appearance time( they need to fit you in ) and if he contests it it may slow things down.

Your visa when approved will be valid for 6 months from date of your medical so you will have till September to enter the usa( assuming medical was In march).

I understand getting the children into school for when it starts that is my aim also- though im heading to Ohio which is mid August. One thing to note is that the American Embassy have been great with my case as my visas were all approved and sent out only for me to ask them to reissue them as they had expired due to interdict/ court proceedings .Not a problem for them, my case is on hold. i just need to redo medicals, interview and of course repay all the fees again( costly but i know when i have approval from the courts I'm free to go ). good luck.

  21. hi RexAra, saw your post and understand your situation slightly. He has parental rights as you were married. you need his permission to take the children out of country to immigrate. some states in usa will also want proof that you have the other parents permission to enrol his children in their school. they need to be sure the children have not been abducted. Maybe consult a lawyer in regards to this due to your ex maybe serving time in prison as i dont know how this will affect things. Im going through court to get a specific issue order to take my child out on k2 visa and he didnt have parental rights but he put interdict on the passport so they could not travel hence forcing us into court to get permission from a court.Could your ex do this even from prison if hes trying to stop you leaving. My court route isnt quick though. hope you get the answer your looking for.

  22. Your visa is Valid for 6 months from when you did medical., asuming it was done at London(My medical was 22nd DEC and my visa expired on 22nd June). You do have 90 days to marry once you enter USA so if you had med in Jan you must enter USA by July and must be married by October per say.

Ive used the embassy inquiry forms to ask them to reissue our visas- it took them 5 days to respond and were very helpful, granted i need to do medicals and fees and interview again -

so depends on when you sent in your form depends on when youll get a reply
