Is there any way to know for sure that the NVC received my AOS and IV documents via email? I sent them in 3 weeks ago and just called to see if they received them. They said they could not see if they were received, but to "trust" that they got them. I'd hate to be waiting only to find out that they never received my emails. Leaving it to "trust" is easier said than done right now. I'm not in a big hurry for a case complete, but of course I want to make sure I'm not waiting in vain.

I submitted all of my AOS and IV documents via email 3 weeks ago, but I have not received any confirmation that they received them. Do they usually send out emails to confirm they have received them? I called the NVC and the operator said my 60 days will start the day I sent the email, but I asked if they received it. He said they could not see that information, but to trust that it went through. Of course this is easier said than done. Is there a way I can know if they received the email, or do I really have to "trust" that it went through? I'd hate to be waiting all this time and find out they never received my documents.

Thank you so much! I understand your frustration with trying to get through to them on the phone. I found I had the best luck on Thursday nights. Maybe I was just telling myself that to make me feel better, but I usually got through on my first handful of tries and my wait on hold was usually about 30 mins or so. Best of luck to you on your journey!

How long should I wait after emailing my documents to the NVC before calling to see if they've been added to my case file? I'm not really in a hurry, but I do want to make sure they received everything.
I will say what a relief it is to have everything sent out! Since all I can do now is wait, I'm finally able to relax and enjoy this beautiful weather. It's out of my hands for the moment, which I'm quite happy about.

Don't worry about it. I was instructed to submit my documents with just the AOS barcode. They just need an official barcode with the case number on it. So you are all good!

I totally agree. It makes much more sense in one PDF. But now I'm a little torn. (I sort of wish I didn't call.) The agent on the phone asked me to please put the AOS and IV packages all in one PDF. But that goes against the "official" rules on the website. I suppose I should believe an actual person over a website that might not be updated, but I'd hate for them to send anything back because I did it wrong. I'm probably wayyyyyy over-worrying and over-thinking about this.

Okay, thank you. He said it was a hassle for them to download each document separately and now they prefer one PDF so that they can save them all with one click.

This goes against the instructions on the official NVC website, but he still said this was the correct way to submit documents. So I'm confused what to do.

Update: I called the NVC to confirm the max file size for pdf files and they said that they do not even scan the 2D barcodes. He said that all information is inputted manually, so as long as the information in the boxes is legible there is no worry. Whew! That makes me feel MUCH better.

I just got off the phone with an NVC agent and he told me something different than what's on the EP wiki, so I'm wondering if anyone else has heard the same thing. He told me that the AOS and IV packages should be sent in ONE email and all in ONE pdf. Is this true? He sounded very knowledgeable and was quite adamant that I put all forms, documents, and proof for both the AOS and IV in one PDF to email in. He said this helps prevent multiple scan dates and lost files.
-
Thank you all so much for your help and patience! I think my moment of pure panic has passed. I have scanned everything and all looks good, and all attachments are under 5MB. I'm going to sleep on this and then hit "send" tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Photo to PDF does work a little better. What is the max size in MB I can include in an email to the NVC? I've seen 5MB and 30MB. Right now I can get my AOS around 10MB and IV is under 5MB. Is this okay?
-
Scanning at 100dpi is practically unreadable. 300dpi is barely good enough. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. My files are huge. Regular mail it is.

The paid AOS barcode sheet is perfect because I was able to print it directly from my email as a PDF, and is only 10kb or something. So that's good. It's just the I-864 that is not very clear. Every entry is readable, but I am so paranoid about this whole thing I can hardly believe it.
-
Thank you so much for telling me about your experience. If I scan the pages on the highest quality, they come out nicely when reprinted. But then each page is 8MB, so just the I-864 is 70MB. Any time I lower the resolution and print them as smaller PDF's, the quality goes way down. I think I might just give up and mail everything in the old fashioned way. I'm sure it doesn't make that big of a difference. I hope, anyway.

I posted this in the NVC forum, but didn't get a response so I shall try it here. Thanks!
I've scanned all of my documents to reasonable sized PDFs, but I'm concerned about the quality not being good enough. Particularly the I-864. All entries are legible, but the 2D barcode at the bottom is certainly not clear enough to be scanned. But this is true even at optimum resolution. For those who successfully went through electronic processing, how high was the quality of your scans?

On the Affidavit of Support, I was instructed to put $0.00 as my current income if I am living in Canada, as my employment will not continue once I move back to the United States. (I also have a joint sponsor, obviously.) Does this mean I should also check "unemployed" on the AOS, or should I write down my employer in Canada?
-
Thank you so much! Your advice on these forums is both helpful and appreciated.

Do I have to wait until the IV fee has been accepted and the DS-260 completed before I email my AOS and IV packages? Or can I email them both in (using the AOS barcode cover sheet) now that the AOS fee has been accepted? I've read conflicting messages about this, so I was hoping for a definitive answer. Thank you in advance!

Quick question. My plan is to prove that I'm in the process of re-establishing domicile in the US. I have some evidence for this already, and more on the way. My question is: on the I-864 do I put my country of domicile as USA or Canada? I'm living in Canada, so I want to be truthful and say Canada, with a plan to re-establish domicile in the USA. But I'm afraid my application will be sent back just for having put "Canada" on the form.
So for those who have successfully proven they are in the process of re-establishing domicile: what did you put on your I-864? Canada or USA?
Thanks in advance. -
No, he did not. Given what I've seen on the forums here, I assume the 60 day estimate is fairly accurate.

I'm just putting this out there to give hope to those who are still waiting for a case number from the NVC. I received mine this morning, 28 days after they received my file from USCIS. Actually, the person I spoke to on the phone was extremely kind and helpful. He asked me more questions than I asked him, making sure I understood the process. That really made my day.
So for those out there, you WILL receive yours, even if it feels like it's taking forever. The support on these boards has been so helpful for keeping my chin up throughout this process. I hope everyone gets reunited with their loved ones asap.

I received my NOA2 on Jan 8 and still have no case # at the NVC. I've been calling every day, so hopefully we both see some movement on our cases this week. Fingers crossed.

Here's where we're at:
My husband and I would like to stay together in Canada and only move once, so we are going to try the re-establishing domicile route first and cross our fingers. What I have now is:
- A lease for an apartment for July 1.
- A receipt for the security deposit and first month's rent, which I have paid.
- A job offer letter, as well as my acceptance, starting July 6.
- Bank statement from my US bank account that I kept open (and used) the entire time I've been in Canada. Statements for this account are already being sent to my new address in the US and being collected by a friend.
I am also taking a trip to the US next month, at which time I will surrender my Canadian driver's license and get a US driver's license. We do not have kids so I cannot register them in school. I tried to register to vote with my new address, but they will not allow it until I have physically lived there for at least 20 days.
Do you think this is enough proof for the interview? Like everyone on this forum, I am very paranoid about the whole domicile situation. Thanks in advance!

Really?!?! Now that really makes me nervous, as I have received nothing. I hope I have not wasted 3 weeks for nothing.
