  1. Same. Interview June 17. They respond to emails quite quickly, so I'm not sure why they can't process visas as quickly. People who interviewed long after us are already in the US, so I have no idea what's going on. I wonder if the CO who did your interview is responsible for your visa right up until its issuance, and some are just faster than others. If that's the case, I think I'm in for a wait. He was super friendly and nice, but I didn't get the impression that efficiency is his strong suit. That's what all this waiting has done to me, haha! I'm assigning personalities to the people in the Montreal consulate now. Here's hoping this is the week for all of us June interviews who are still waiting.

  2. I really thought this week was going to be my lucky week, but now I have to go through another weekend of uncertainty. Hopefully my last. Although I'm very happy for those on here who received their visas this week. May the rest of us be so lucky come Monday...

    Happy weekend all!

  3. Hello

i had my interview 2 day ago and i got approve :goofy:

but when i check at NVC my case status it says REDAY (`like before the interview)

    is that normal ?

and how much time usually takes K1 to be printed ?

Very much normal. Don't worry about it. And it usually takes 3-5 days for a visa to be printed, but nothing about this process is "usual" at the moment. I've been at ready since June 17. Hopefully yours comes through quickly.

    Nice picture, btw.

  4. I had my interview in Montreal on June 16th and it changed to AP yesterday. We can definitely understand the frustration with this process, it seems very random and involves a lot of luck as much as preparation. Looking at your timeline you are very lucky your application was sent to California. We applied on September 2nd 2014 but got stuck at the Texas service centre. We had no RFE's, no paperwork issues and we took the first available date for the interview and in the end we are only 2 weeks ahead of you. I'm sure there are people who have had a longer experience than us too. Once we finally get the visa in hand none of this waiting will matter too much anymore, but until then this process is quite frustrating.

I'm glad I found a thread specific to Montreal so I can at least see how others are doing. It seems like IR-1/CR-1 are being processed before K1 from what I see on here.

My interview was the day after yours, so this gives me hope that they will get to mine soon. I have to remind myself that we will all receive our visas eventually. It's just hard to be so close to the finish line and not be able to cross it. I keep reminding myself that I anticipated still being at the NVC stage at this point, so I shouldn't worry so much. I sometimes wish there was no way to check the status of my application online, like the good old days. A friend of mine went through this many years ago and says it was just a matter of "it will show up when it shows up." I think it might be less stressful not having a place to check on our applications every day...or hour...or minute. :-)

  5. So I know there's a topic about this issue already posted, but I wanted to have one just for Montreal in order to better compare wait times.

My K1 interview is scheduled for July 17th, and I start classes in NYC on August 13th. I'm getting really nervous about how long the process will take.

Fellow Montreal interviewees, how long of a wait has it been for you between your interview and when you had your passport back in hand?

It's hard to tell. I've been waiting 3 weeks and my visa has yet to be issued. Someone on here has been waiting on Montreal for 11 weeks, with a clean interview and no 221(g), while others who interviewed after me have already received their visas. I'd say to plan on being in NYC for August 13, but save yourself a possible headache and do not book any travel until you have the passport in your hands.

  6. Update:

53 days later....I have finally moved to "Issued".

I honestly did not believe it when I saw it just now. I am literally running through every emotion in the book at this moment.

I really have no idea what else to say at this point. I'm...just stunned at this point.

This news makes me so happy! You deserve this more than any of us on here, I'm sure. Now you can ENJOY LIFE AGAIN! :dancing:

  7. I received the exact same checklist, for a missing marriage certificate that was in the original package. I emailed a copy of it again and was put into "supervisor review." I received a case complete a couple of days later, so it's not a big deal, at least in my experience.

  8. Whew! I was worried there for a minute and confused.

Thank you! I live in Ottawa so I am really hoping I don't have to wait long. It's only a 1.5 hr from from Montreal. Wouldn't it be nice if I received it either tomorrow or Monday!

Do you get an email that it's been picked up via courier or only when it's arrived at it's location?

It says on the website where you register a Loomis location that you will be notified by email once it's available for pickup, so probably soon. Then again, I'm not sure because I'm still waiting on mine. Hoping to also see "issued" before the day is through!

  9. Mine just got issued, but there is this below my "issued" status and I'm not sure what it means because I was told at my interview that I was approved already... :-s

Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. As the officer told you in the interview, if further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved when administrative processing is finished, you will receive notification to collect the passport with the visa from the Loomis branch you selected when you booked your appointment.

Does anyone know what that means? or is that just a standard message for everyone?

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!

That message is standard. "Issued" means your passport has left the building. I'm so happy for you!

  10. One thing that was pointed out to me was if your name (I assume first, middle, last) are quite common you may be subject to a bit more scrutiny during the FBI background check. Moreso, if your name got a hit in the database, despite the fact it is clearly not you, then I assume even more checks need to be done.

Believe me, I have a spotless record but my name is quite common, so I chalked it up to that. I do believe however that you're right in that more happens in the AP phase than the background check. I was stuck in AP from June 3 - 17, so take from that what you will.

It's odd to me that they don't make you submit fingerprints before the interview, so they can do all the biometrics before you get there. I mean, either you are approved at your interview or not approved. I don't see how they can say "you are approved" the day of the interview and then do a background check, possibly then denying the visa. Seems to make much more sense to only invite those for interviews who have already passed the check. My 2 cents, anyway.

  11. my prayers were answered

I can't believe it i got issued on my update please send my passport fast now!!!!! good luck to the rest of you. I thought they were closed on Canada day but maybe some are working,,, who knows

That is wonderful news. I am so happy for you! Happy Canada Day, indeed.

  12. I'll be curious to know about this to.

My interview was June 16th, I was approved and as of June 26th my update is ISSUED. I also haven't gotten a email with Loomis pickup either. Im wondering if because they have tomorrow (Wed) and Friday off this week if I wont hear back until next week now...

The consulate has Wednesday and Friday off. However, Loomis will be working Friday, so if your passport goes out on Thursday, it's possible you could get it Friday.

  13. That is an extremely tough spot to be in. Just when you think you have it bad, someone else comes along and puts it in perspective for you.

The optimistic side of me wants to jump up and say, "Sure. Go ahead and give your 60 days notice." Lord knows a 2 month wait at one time seemed to be an extreme unlikelihood, but I cannot say that with surety now.

The way I look at it is, the odds of waiting a year from today are slim, even by these lousy standards Montreal has. If you sign that lease you are on the hook for one year from tomorrow for the rent of that apartment. Of course it is possible to find someone to take over the lease, but there is a chance you may not. Do you have the finances to pay the remainder of a year long lease and/or a lease breaking fee? If the answer is no, then perhaps the 60 days notice route is the way to go.

Do you have family or friends that could loan you a place to stay after August 31st if the visa does not come through by then? If so, try and call in some favours to make it happen if it comes to that.

That is what I would do in this situation but I know everyone else has a different threshold for risk. Go with what you think is right.

Thank you for your reply, optimism, encouragement! I definitely cannot pay the penalty to break the lease (which is the equivalent of 6 months rent), so I think I'm going to do as you say and submit my 60 days notice. Then all I can do is hope for the best. I'm a smart person who has made intelligent choices my entire life, so I hope I don't live to regret it in the event I end up homeless come September. I'm sure I could call upon a friend to let me stay with them, but the idea of not having a place to call home is definitely scary. I keep saying to myself, "it can't possibly take more than 2 months to receive my passport," bur nothing about this process has been reliable. I do know that I was too eager to get my medical on the very day my interview was scheduled, which means my visa will expire in mid-October. I wish I had gotten it done right before my interview to give me some more wiggle room, but I didn't think it was possible to take so long. Now I see that it definitely is possible. Although after seeing so many people move to "issued" today, it gives me hope that I will see that word myself very soon. I hope you do as well. I really do!

  14. I was hoping it wouldn't come to this, but by 5pm today I either have to sign another year lease on my apartment or put in my 60 days notice. Everything in my timeline has worked out up to this point. My interview was smooth and I was approved. The million dollar question is, will I see my passport back by August 31st? I was guaranteed by the CO that I would receive it within 2 weeks of the issuing crisis being resolved, which has happened. I want to trust in fate that it will be issued within the next 2 months, but the few who have waited longer on these message boards gives me pause. I really don't know what to do... *sigh*

  15. Just entered that dreaded Administrative Processing stage earlier this morning....can't help but have awful anxiety about it.

Movement on your case is a good thing! Looks like you are nearing the finish line and should see "issued" by the end of the week! Fingers crossed for you!

  16. Just wanted to update everyone, for those waiting for Montreal updates today I finally received an ISSUED notice and should get everything back in the next 5 days. My interview was June 16th

I am guessing a lot of those Canadians waiting to get an update will start going through this week for sure!

Wonderful news! Congratulations! I am also waiting on Montreal, interview June 17. This gives me hope.

  17. I am so relieved to finally see some movement on IV cases in Montreal! From what I've read, your status changes from Ready to AP to Issued. Apparently it doesn't show issued until your passport has left the building, so you should be seeing it from Loomis very soon. Perhaps slightly delayed because of the holiday on Wednesday. Now my fingers are crossed I receive the same update tomorrow. My interview was June 17, so it looks like they are getting there if yours was June 10. I'd really like to put in my 60 days notice on my apartment so that I can move August 31 and not have to wait until September 30. I miss my husband!
