You can obtain the transcripts online in a few minutes you'llhe IRS via http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript
Are these not valid? They must be sent by mail from the IRS to be good?
The transcripts acquired online are just as good as those mailed and much faster!
Thanks DKNC for all the info! I had no idea we could submit the docs now already. We've been following the NVC's instructions on their own website, since I haven't had the energy to dig into the info posted here (kids have been sick, busy times at work, studies to complete etc.). I was under the assumption that we have to pay the fees and submit the DS-260 before sending in any documents. I've read Saylin's excellent NVC Wiki and that also advises you to first pay all the fees and only then sending in the packages. Good to learn there's actually a faster way!
So I guess we should just gather the packages then and send them off. We looked at the list before and most of the documents we already have. We do not have my husband's tax transcripts though, so that is delaying us right now. He called the IRS a couple of weeks ago and requested for them, but I guess it wasn't processed since we haven't seen the papers yet. Mail here is very reliable so I don't think they were lost in the mail. First request/submission was done in October... I don't know what the next step would be to get them, it took a frustrating 45 min. wait and a 30 min. call last time (online and automated phone request are unavailable, since they have recorded our address wrong somehow). We'll see. Also, we're going to need a joint sponsor so we should probably tell her to prepare her docs as well.
I had thought that maybe we'd be able to get our interview for July, and comparing to your estimated timeline I don't think we'd be too far off with that estimate (if there are no setbacks along the way). I'm not sure about the current status of interview availability here, but last time I applied I was able to get an appointment within 2-3 weeks for an F-1, and approved in a few days. We'll most likely be a little late for the school year start, but luckily it's only first grade so the academic speed probably isn't too fast
.
Yes, do start gathering all your documents. Just be sure to mail them all together as one package. Most likely you'll have the AOS fee paid before they arrive at NVC and you can pay the IV fee and submit the DS 260 while your docs are in the review queue.
We didn't need tax transcipts but we needed social security statements. There is a great online service for that now but sadly it doesn't work if you have a non US address.

We're a little slow now with the NVC process from our side. Submitted the DS-261 about a week ago, and now only transferred money to the US so we can pay the AOS & IV fees. It'll take another week I guess before the money is in the US and we can actually pay the fees. I've been extremely lazy in finding out about the process ahead, I did pre-fill the old DS-230 form but have not even thought about the IV and AOS packages. What is the approximate timeline in these steps, now that we pay the AOS fee, the IV fee should become available then after a few days? And then after paying that, the DS-260 will become available again after a few days? Also, do we just send the IV & AOS packages off right after completing the DS-260, or is there a waiting time again? Oh please don't let it be the-60-day-waiting-time for that...
If you're still aiming to move before school starts in the fall, I'd suggest you keep things moving.
Research what's needed for AOS and IV. Get all the documents you need and fill out the AOS form(s) as soon as you are able. Remember that NVC takes copies now for IV docs. Save your originals to take to the interview. You do not need to wait to pay IV fee/fill out DS 260 before you send in your documents. I was once told by an NVC rep that documents could be sent in at any time after a case number is assigned. Many of the people posting on VJ send in their docs after paying the AOS fee. Of course there are some that follow the instructions on the NVC website precisely, doing things in the order listed. You're free to do as you wish, of course, but paying all fees and submitting the DS 260 before sending docs to NVC can possibly add months to your process.
You asked about timeline. When you pay your AOS fee and mail your docs to NVC is under your control. Once your docs are scanned in at NVC, they will take 60+ days to review them before either giving you case complete or issuing a checklist. If you get a checklist, it will be another 60+ days after you resubmit docs. So check everything again and again that all boxes are ticked, all items are filled in, and forms are signed and dated. While your docs are under review, you can pay your IV fee and submit the DS 260. Once NVC issues the case complete, an interview will be scheduled. Depending on when you get case complete and the interview schedule for your embassy, it could be up to 2 months until interview date. If good luck is with me, I am hoping that we get a case complete in the first few days of April, make the cutoff for interview scheduling, and get an interview in Stockholm around the 20th of May. If NVC issues a checklist, it'll be two/three months later.
If you wait to pay your IV fee before mailing in your documents, I would advise that you call NVC and ask them if they will review the DS 261 so that the IV invoice can be issued (if it's not done already). Our DS 261 was submitted January 15th, and still no IV bill invoiced. Since my docs are already submitted, I thought I'd wait it out and see how long it takes. If the IV fee isn't invoiced this week, though, I plan on calling next week and seeing what can be done. NVC is either very slow or my case fell into a technical black hole.
If you want to see how long the steps have been taking for others, check out the timelines and signatures of those posting in this forum that are at the NVC stage and also take a look at the current months NVC Filers forum. On the first page of that forum, Saylin has a link to her spreadsheet that contains lots of helpful data. Also check out her NVC wiki.
There's nothing fast about any step of this journey, but the sooner you start the sooner it's over.
Good luck!

Hi just received an email from nvc, stating that they had received my package yesterday And it gonna take at lease 60 days ? for them to review beca of the increasing case aprove from the uscis. Fingers cross that it happen b4 the 60 days ??
I'm also hoping that it doesn't really take more than 60 days.
Good luck to you!

About to send my aos and iv packages.. Question did you guys send the bar coded cover sheet from the welcome letter of nvc or the bar codes one from the site where we pay the invoices?
If it's supposed to be from the welcome letter can I send a copy of it?
I sent in the cover sheet from the welcome letter, per instructions in welcome letter and on NVC site. It's perfectly fine to make copies. Many people send the AOS bar coded coversheet from the payment portal as well, following the NVC wiki instructions on VJ. It's that bar code that is important, not so much which sheet is sent. Here's what's stated on the payment receipt page from the ceac site:
- If you are required to submit physical copies of your documents, you must include a barcoded cover sheet to identify your documents.
- If you received an Instruction Packet from the NVC, it contains a cover sheet. You can send that cover sheet or a copy of the cover sheet.
- If you need a new cover sheet, print one by clicking the Print Document Cover Sheet button on the Receipt page.
- If you cannot print a cover sheet, click the Email Document Cover Sheet button. Then send an electronic copy to an email address where you can print it.
Best of luck with speedy processing!

That is such a relief. I am a big believer in celebrating the small victories!! I am sure that puts your mind at ease a bit. God willing the NVC will open tom and they'll scan it in.
I agree that we must celebrate each and every little victory in this process.
Anyone still waiting for NOA2 from this group. Feeling like i am the only one left ??
There are around 12 October filers on this thread that are waiting for the NOA2, and lots more that haven't joined us here. Now that we are at month 4 for some, there's bound to be some NOA2s coming soon.
I hope that the wait isn't too much longer. This process is definitely a test of patience!

Update: Despite it 'not being required,' our document package was scanned today! It's in Portsmouth, and should be delivered tomorrow, February 3rd. Time for the happy dance:

I sent my AOS/IV documents on the 21st of January. Paid for express service so that I could track the package. The package made it to Chicago very early on the 22nd, sat in the international sort facility until the 25th. The last tracking information is from the evening of the 25th - it arrived at a USPS facility in Chicago and 'item is currently in transit to destination.' That's over a week ago with no updates.
I called the USPS when they opened at 8 (ET), was on hold for what seemed like forever, only to be told that they are not required to scan 'international letters.' It is 'most likely' on it's way or already delivered. That was not very helpful. For all I know, it's stuck in a snow bank in New Hampshire waiting for the Spring thaw.
So I called up NVC, waited through the very long phone menu, only to get 'the NVC is closed today.'
I was prepared for the wait for document review, but not knowing if the documents even got there is killing me. To get new copies of the original items sent could easily add another month to our process.
Is there anybody on this thread that already sent documents to NVC that can tell me the time frame that I will hear from NVC that they received (fingers crossed) my documents and scanned them in? If it's email, will it come to the petitioner?

May I know where and how can I fill the W2?
Also, I still cannot fill my DS 260 on-line, it just keep asking me to sign in and return to the same page only...
Do you mean the DS 261 (choice of agent)? Either way, go the page below and pick what you want to do from the menu on the right side of the page (under immigrant).

I know my question is kind of out of place.. but for those who submitted the AOS form, and did not have an Alien Registration Number, what did you put on the section where it asks for it? Blank or 0's or dashes?
I read on some threads you put 0's, but then my barcode changes when I do that. Also did you actually follow the instructions and leave the N/A's and None's blank?
I've been reading threads and they're mixed answers. I don't want to wait for 2 more months because of a checklist that pertains to this
Sorry, I am of no help on this one. Have alien number & filed the AOS waiver (864-W). If you haven't already, try posting on the NVC January filers thread. Is this by chance covered in Saylin's NVC wiki?
Hey, just curious, does anyone know whether we'll need the NOA2 at some point of this process? I know you need it to adjust status on a fiance visa, but since we'll be getting the 10-year GC and won't need to adjust, is there any other reason for wasting our energy in trying to get it?
Went through the sample ds-260 last night. It'll be interesting filling in all the previous addresses, I have moved at least 15 times since I was 16
I can't think of a reason why you'll HAVE to have the NOA2. If you'd LIKE to have it, fill out the online request at USCIS:

Dear all,
I have paid the fee and accorinding to NVC Welcome Letter (ACL), I ned to submit visa application form. However, I click in the Form DS-260, it keeps on to ask me the case number and the invoice number, I cannot enter to page to fill in the Form DS260, may I know what's the problem?
Also, can I submit the AOS & IV Packages if I didn't complete the Form DS260?
I can see on your timeline that you've paid the AOS fee. The DS-261 (choice of agent) form is the next thing to be completed. Once the DS-261 is submitted and reviewed, the IV fee will be released. I am suspecting that the DS-260 is open after the IV fee is paid and processed, but have not gotten that far. Perhaps someone else can chime in here that has more knowledge.
You may submit the AOS and IV packages at any time. Just make sure that you send them together and that you use a bar coded cover sheet. I used the one included with the NVC welcome letter (as written on NVC site), but many have successfully used the AOS bar coded cover sheet that can be printed out after paying the AOS fee. Make sure that you double and triple check everything before sending it off.
Good luck!

Well, this is interesting. Today we received a welcome letter from NVC in the mail. NVC case number, Aos invoice and all were issued and mailed to us on January 8th. Our status with USCIS is still "received" and we have not seen a NOA2, not in the email nor as a hardcopy. Well, seems like it's moving forward anyway
... And no, we did not call or send an inquiry about our case.
Wow! What unexpected yet wonderful news. Congratulations!
I thought it was odd you hadn't been approved yet. I believe it's possible to use the online service at USCIS to request they mail you a new NOA2 copy if you want it for your records. Not needed to move forward though. Welcome to NVC processing. May your journey be swift and smooth!
-
Just to mention: We have never received any mail/email from NVC, no welcome letter, nothing. Is this normal.
It's not normal but I have seen another VJ member that never got the welcome letter/email. Thank goodness you were proactive in calling NVC to get your case number and IIN so you could continue the process.

Yes I am in the states and I paid a ridiculous amount for shipping overnight. At this point it's like water in a bucket haha just taking all my money! Anything to hurry it along a few days quicker.
Good luck and I will be following you since we have such similar timelines!!
I forked over the extra cash for express shipping. The woman at the post office thinks I'm off my rocker for going to such lengths for what looked like a letter. The service comes with tracking, which was super important to me. I would literally go insane if I had to wait on NVC to know that those documents arrived at their destination. I did the same when submitting the I-130 and have no regrets.

Finally I have my case number. YEAH!!!
I follprobably instruction to go to the website to choose an agent, however I entered the case number and the incoive number, the system said it didn't match.......
Can someone tell me what's wrong with that? Or just because the system didn't update yet?
Great news! I see on your timeline that you got the AOS fee & DS 261.
I hope the rest of the journey goes smoothly.
Yesterday afternoon (3pm central) I got another email from NVC saying I could pay the AOS. That was all done and now I mailed off both packages this morning with the AOS barcode cover sheet on both.
Eager to begin the 60 day wait for review. Good luck to all!! If your case # was just assigned you should get another email soon to open AOS fee.
I mailed our documents today too. I only included the cover sheet that was included with the welcome letter (the one with the check boxes). The info on ceac after paying the AOS fee made it look like the AOS cover sheet was only needed if the welcome letter cover sheet was unavailable.
Looks like you're stateside, so your 60 day clock will probably start before mine. Good luck!

I just called the NVC and got my case number
I wasn't able to to give them our email addresses due to some updated or encoding delay they have I forgot the right term but she said to call them again next week so I can give them the addresses.
The welcome letter was sent out January 15th she said.
I also asked for my IIN as the VJ NVC instruction said to ask for it too.
Congratulations. Now you're on your way again!
I ended up getting my welcome email before I called again, so I haven't given a rep our email addresses. They already have mine (from USCIS) and my spouse's email was entered on the DS-261. I'm hoping that will do the trick. Trying really hard not to need to call them much.

call them georgina we were only a day apart and i have my case number you should too i got mines on the 15th . so excited and scared at the same time lol. good luck
Glad to hear you got your case number, Trish.
Curiousgeorgina, yours must be ready now/soon too. I hope you hear good news today.
Susan and Velvety, what's up with your cases? You both should have had NOA2 some time ago. I know it's within 'normal processing time,' but is there anything you can do to shake CSC up a bit?
-
I was about to call it a night, and the NVC welcome emails rolled in. Now I don't have to make my planned call to NVC tomorrow for the case #. Yippee! I'll try to determine when the case # was assigned and update my signature and timeline tomorrow.
Kels, your case number should be available any day now!

Hello everybody, how's it going?
Just paid the AOS bill. Filed from abroad on 24th October. Hoping to be finalized by the summer. What stage is everybody else at?
Welcome to our little group. I have been following the progress of the 29 users in this thread that have filed and/or received their NOA1 in October. Here's the breakdown:
- 10 are still waiting patiently for NOA2
- 5 are between USCIS and NVC
- 10 are waiting for NVC case numbers
- 4 are in the NVC process
The above figures are based on user timelines, signatures or comments on this thread. I don't think it is completely up to date, but it's probably a pretty good picture of where we are at.
You got through USCIS pretty quick and seem to be moving nicely through NVC. Best of luck that the rest of your journey goes well.

Is there anyone from Denmark that can recommend a shipping firm to move household goods? We are hoping to move from the Copenhagen area to Charlotte NC this summer.
Thanks!

After silently watching the progress of others, I finally worked up the nerve to call NVC today. I called at the start of their business day, and was on hold for about 20 minutes. Not bad given the horror stories I've read on VJ. I talked to a very friendly rep (missed her name) and she confirmed that my case was received at NVC on the 6th of December and that I should get a case number next week. Since I've read that the NVC welcome email can be delayed by about a week, I will probably make another call next week. I need to get this process moving.
For those still waiting for their NOA2, I hope that those approvals are right around the corner. I also hope that NVC picks up some speed with assigning case numbers, so that you can move swiftly through the rest of the process.

I hope this is a sign that those at NSC will be getting the much deserved NOA2's in the near future!
