  1. My i130 was approved in 32 days . Jumping crying and screaming for joy

Congrats on the approval! :star: Thank goodness you live where there is reliable mail service. I hope the rest of your journey goes smoothly.

You're probably right DKNC, and even if it does take the regular 5 months, we'll still have time to go through NVC and be in the US by next school year. Our consulate should be rather fast and the last part is expected to go though easily. Crossing our fingers now!

Our son will be starting 1st grade next August and it would be the best if we could move during the summer, in order to get to know some kids in the area before school and stuff. Also, to get over the initial adjustment and shock... how old are your kids? Will you be moving to a location you're familiar with?

Wishing you good luck in selling the house! We sold ours a few years ago and the single most expensive thing to sell before moving will be the car. We'll see how that goes, when it's time...

Our kids are teenagers. Although they are older, they are at good breaking points in school come summer. Our plan is to move to a new location for the both of us. It is both exciting and stressful. With no family in the area, it will be critical for one of us to find a job prior to the move so we can afford housing. That could mean living apart near the end. :crying: How about you? Familiar location or new frontier?

  2. It seems like our case not going to get the auto expedite, regardless of being filed from abroad. Well, we're not in a hurry, just was hoping to get the approval soon so we'd know in which country to register the kids to school. :)

Well, we may not have gotten the auto expedite of ca. 20 days or less, but the CSC is still extremely fast. Based on my timeline, you could easily have your NOA2 in November or very early december.

Unless we are very unlucky with NVC, we hope to have our kids in US schools in August. When to put our house up for sale is the big question on our minds. Need to sell in order to buy, but it's not recommended to sell until the visa is in hand.

  3. :) I received the email notification today said "On November 24, 2014, we approved your Form I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN, Receipt Number XXXXXX. We will mail your approval notice. Please follow the instructions in the notice.""

such a good news to me!!!

By the way, may I know what kind of the instructions in the notice I need to take action? Provide extra supporting document or else?

Wish everyone here can hear your good news soon!!!!

    Congratulations!

While waiting for CSC to send your case file to NVC, and then waiting for NVC to input the case and assign it a number, you can start collecting the needed documents for AOS and IV that need to be sent to NVC later.

    http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Supporting_documents.html

I noticed that the instructions for IV (supporting documents) have not been updated to reflect that copies are now sent to NVC and the originals are hand carried to the embassy at interview. (AOS is still original documents.) The NVC wiki on this site has been updated and explains all the steps. Check it out!

Our NOA2 notice arrived in the mail yesterday (approved on the 17th). Below is the text on the notice:

The above petition has been approved. We have sent the original visa petition to the Department of State National Visa Center (NVC), 32 Rochester Avenue, Portsmouth NH 03801-2909. NVC processes all appoveed immigrant visa petitions that need consular action. It also determines which consular post is the appropriate consulate to complete visa processing. NVC will then forward the approved petition to that consulate.

The NVC will contact the person for whom you are petitioning(beneficiary) concerning further immigrant visa processing steps.

You should allow a minimum of 30 days for Department of State processing before contacting the NVC. If you have not received any correspondence from the NVC within 30 days, you may contact the NVC by e-mail at NVCINQUIRY@state.gov. You will need to enter the USCIS receipt number from this approval notice in te subject line. In order to receive information about your petition, you will need to include the Petitioner's name and date of bith and the Applicant's name and date of birth, in the body of the e-mail.

(It goes on to state that approval of the petition does not grant a visa or admission to U.S. There is also a notice that USCIS as well U.S. Dept of Homeland Security can continue to verify information from the application.)

BTW, it looks like you need to update your consulate on your timeline.

    wow congrats! :)

Congrats! It's nice to see approvals on this topic as well, I almost thought they stopped processing after September filers ;) !

Thank you very much. It is so nice to have a group to share with that understands the joy that comes with passing each hurdle. :goofy:

For those that are compulsively checking the USCIS site as I have been, the only two times my case was updated was when the case was input (giving 'we received your petition on...' status) and yesterday (giving 'your petition was approved on...' status). I had signed up for an account on USCIS because I believed that I would be able to see 'touches' when my case was being worked on or moved around. The joke was on me! It was great getting the email update right when my status changed though.

I hope that everyone else moves swiftly through USCIS and NVC. It's a long road. I just hope it isn't too bumpy. :star:

  6. I have a question, hope someone can help me. From the NOA, there is a "Preference Classification" , can tell me what is the meaning of : 201 B INA SPOUSE OF USC

    Thanks in advance!

201 B INA refers to section 201b of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). What you see listed under 'Preference Classification' indicates that the beneficiary is the spouse of the USC (US Citizen) petitioner.

  7. Sent our docs october 1st week, and october 15 we received a mail that they received our petition. And on november 5 our case was approved and they sent it to NVC.

Congratulations on your fast approval! :star:

    :time:

Hi guys, I'm new here and just as confused.

I mailed my husband's I-130 on October 27th, got an email on november 5th stating they received our case and fowarded to California center. We still have not received our NOA1 hardcopy in the mail. I am a bit worried. I checked the status online and says:

On November 3, 2014, we received your Form I-130, Immigrant Petition for Relative, Fiance(E), or Orphan, Receipt Number XXXXXXXX, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your receipt notice by December 3, 2014, please call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

So what now?? What is the next step once I receive it? Once it gets approved will they send the NOA2 packet? Sorry, very confused keeping all these steps straight.

In addition to the link you got from curiousgeorgina, you might also find these helpful:

    Good luck to you! :)

    Hello

We got married here in the Philippines and sent a copy of our marriage certificate from the office of civil registrar. Our case was sent to Nebraska Service Center now we are just waiting for an update. We couldn't check our case on the uscis website yet it coz it says to wait for our Form I-797 by mail... Although I have the NSO marriage certificate already, i hope they wont ask for an RFE anymore coz it would delay the process again (they lost our check btw so we had to cancel it and send another one)

Using the receipt number in the email, you can try to look up your case on the USCIS site anytime. Don't be concerned if the case isn't available online. There can be quite a delay. Also, :time:

  8. The I-864W is the intending immigrants affidavit of support exemption. In our case, we qualify for the AOS exemption because the intending immigrant has earned or can be credited with at least 40 eligible quarters under the Social Security Act.

I find being able to file the I-864W a plus since it is a simple form that requires a minimum of supporting documentation. Less chance of making a mistake and getting a dreaded RFE. :star:

Information about the different affadavit of support forms and the supporting financial evidence needed can be found here:

  9. So uscis revamped their site, but looks kind of confusing.. Anyone had the same weird status as mine? We got Noa1 hard copy on the 26th of October, but my case reflected online on 5th of November.. And now on their site it says they received it on the 5th? Does this mean I'm now a November filer?? Hope not.

On November 5, 2014, we received your Form I-130, Immigrant Petition for Relative, Fiance(E), or Orphan, Receipt Number EACXXXXXXXXXX, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your receipt notice by December 5, 2014, please call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Mine says the same when my priority date is the 20th of October my case was touched november the 5th so I hope I'm not a November filer better just be a glitch

Must be an error with the coding of the new case status layout. Mine now states 'On October 6th we received...' It used to state 'On October 1st.' My case was last updated (date it was input into the system, I assume) on October 6th. Clearly pulling the wrong date. Personally, I'd rather the information be accurate than look nice.

Given the amount of comments on VJ relating to case status information after the change, there clearly are problems. Hopefully USCIS will get things cleared up ASAP once the work week begins.

  10. Our I-130 petition that we sent at the beginning of the month has just been approved and is on its way to the NVC. We haven't actually received the NOA 2 email but we checked online and it's on the way! Just for reference we mailed the petition the first week of October and today is the 25th of October.

Congratulations! I hope that you have smooth sailing through NVC as well. :-)

Out of curiosity, did you see any updates at USCIS between 'initial review' and your approval?

  11. What address will they mail the NOA1 hardcopy to? Your current listed on I-130? I ask because the South African postal service is on strike and nothing will come through. Perhaps I should call after i receive my e-mail?

The NOA1 is mailed to the petitioners current address from the I-130. Though it is nice to have the hardcopy, it is not essential to continue the process. If you filed form G-1145 for E-notification, you will receive your receipt number in the email sent, and can use that to track your case on the USCIS site.

  12. wow lucky you! mine says the case can't be found..

ok call me a noob, but I just need to input the one with the "EAC" on it on their site and I don't need to create an account, right?

No need to create an account to see your case status on uscis.gov and yes, your receipt number begins with EAC since your case was sent to Vermont. I don't know if when the case info is available is impacted by which service center it is sent to or if it is just a matter of luck. The email for NOA1 clearly states to wait for the hard copy before checking case status, so it must be typical for there to be some delay.

  13. Has anyone from October been able to see any of their status online at uscis.gov yet?

Being the impatient soul that I am, I logged onto the USCIS site the day I got my NOA1 email. Case was already available. I signed up for case updates via email while on the site. There haven't been any updates though. Just the same message from October 6th stating 'initial review' and that our petition was received October 1st, etc.
