Congratulations!
A cover letter is not mandatory. We just used the checklist that came with the NVC welcome letter and sent it as one bundle in the order on the checklist.Is cover letter is mandatory with IV and AOS??
Congrats!Thanks. I had my interview on June 25 and was approved. It was not complicated at all. The consul was training another consul so it took more time with me.
I will write a review as soon as I have a chance from work.
In the morning the package was in Ciudad Juarez still but says "Estimated delivery date: July 1" Hopefully tomorrow I will have it.

Finally I received my passport with the Immigrant visa stamp yesterday.
We are planning to land in Sept, 2015.
Good luck everyone. I would like to remind those haven't heard from NVC or USCIS applicants that don't give up, keep calling to check your case status.
Congratulations!
Hey Congrats Vanbaby!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I called NVC several times and still not get my NVC welcome letter. But on my last call they said my petition is currently reviewed by supervisor. Hoping we get the NVC letter soon. Its been more than 52 days. Waiting....
No one should have to wait so long! This process requires strength and patience in ways that no one from the outside can ever understand. Hang in there, but do call NVC once in awhile if you can so that they don't ignore your predicament. I'm hoping that once your case finally gets moving again that everything goes lightening fast for you.

I best look into that, thanks for the warning.
Here's a link that may be helpful: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/support/i-864-series-forms-faqs.html
If you open the last domicile FAQ, you'll find this:
If the sponsor establishes U.S. domicile, it is not necessary for the sponsor to go to the United States before the sponsored family members. However, the sponsor must return to the United States to live before the sponsored immigrant may enter the United States. The sponsored immigrant must enter the United States with or after the sponsor.

Very helpful, thanks again! Yeah I won't schedule a medical until I am ready for the interview, so they're as close as possible. It is not a huge issue, if I get the visa before my husband (the USC) is ready to leave Sweden, I'll go ahead of him to live with his parents.
Sorry, you can't travel first. The USC must return to the US before or at the same time as the immigrant. Can't remember exactly where I read this, but I've seen it many times during this process. We are also a couple both living abroad.

Due to circumstances, I'm not ready to leave until Nov/Dec, is there a way to delay the interview? I should be able to reschedule right.
Here's a quote from the interview letter sent from NVC:
To reschedule an interview, visit our website http://nvc.state.gov/interviewand review the U.S. Embassy orConsulate in STOCKHOLM's Interview Instructions. If the embassy or consulate does not have any specificrescheduling guidelines listed, contact the embassy or consulate directly (see U.S. Embassy or Consulate Addressand Contact Information above) to reschedule the applicant's interview.
If you read the info sheet for the embassy in Stockholm on the NVC site, it states the following:
Please be aware that it may take up to 6 months to obtain a different appointment. Also keep in mind that we can only give approximately 3 weeks advance notice.
It looks like it won't be a problem for you to have a bit of a delay for a new appointment, but keep in mind that you will have 6 months to activate the visa from the date of your medical appointment. Also note that there is a delay between CC and interview date. For us, it was two months. It might work fine for you to travel in November or December without the need to reschedule. I hope that the timing of it all will work out well for you.
-
Hi guys, if and when I get a Cc, does NVC schedule my interview or do I?
NVC will schedule your interview and send you an email with the details. Two weeks after the interview letter (email) from NVC, we received an appointment notice email from the embassy in Stockholm that gave some additional information.
-
As a helpful aid to those behind you, and to allow others to wish you well, please keep your timelines updated. Thank you!
I truly hope for all that this agonizing immigration process will soon be a distant memory.

I'm from Sweden but I live in Denmark since the past 5 years. So I also have to see the doctor in Copenhagen. Did you wait for a letter from the embassy before you booked your medical? How long was the waiting time to get an appointment?
I'm also curious about the interview date. Did you get to choose it yourself or was it assigned?
The medical was booked after receiving the interview appointment letter from NVC. The appointment was two weeks out, but that included the Easter holidays. The interview date is assigned by NVC.

Hi guys! Im leaving for Stockholm wednesday for the interview on thursday. I have some final questions of course :-) did i need to get stamps for the brown evelope that they send my passport in later on if approved? If so how many? I think i read it a long time ago but im not sure? How did you guys do it? Since im from denmark im guessing i need some stamps for it? And is there any final fees to be paid on the day or before the interview? The ds160 is of course paid and done. But i just wanna make sure. The checklist doesnt say anything about that. Big hugs to you all:-))) Camilla
Hi Camilla.
I can tell you that you absolutely do not need stamps. You'll write your name and address on a large envelope while you are at the embassy. The embassy will pay the postage. Best of luck with the interview and hope you enjoy your time in Stockholm with your sister.
-
DKNC, have you booked your medical examination in Copenhagen yet?
Did the medical in Copenhagen mid April and had the interview in Stockholm earlier this week. Are you also from Denmark? The medical and chest x-ray were booked for the same day. You should allow 2 weeks between medical and interview.

Hey folks,
Just wanted to say Congrats to everyone who has been approved this month! It's been a long journey, and you did it! I just sent my AOS & IV packages yesterday, so hoping for interview and approval by August. I'm feeling so excited and hopeful, looking at all these approvals in your signatures and timelines! Hope you all are enjoying the summer with your loves! <3 <3 <3
You are on the home stretch now. Best of luck for a speedy review!
I might be the only one left but finally our I-130 has been approved! Any one who had their case at Nebraska that could give an indication of how long it will take for the case to be sent and received by the NVC?
Congratulations!
Best wishes for smooth sailing through NVC.
Thank you for yr support.
No RFE.
My husband called USCIS and talked to tier 2. He told us that he didn't see any red flags in our case and we would get a response no later than May 13th. But nothing happened. So my husband sent a request. Their response was: Our case is still pending background checks and they didn't know how long it would take.
Congressman inquiry didn't help. He got an info from USCIS that our case is Nebraska and we need to wait more because NSC is overloaded.
Looks like we used all the possible sourses to speed up the process
Sorry to see that you've been delayed at NSC.
I hope they finish the checks soon. You've been patient long enough.
-
I was just able to pay my IV fee online!! I think they are finally fixing the system!! Yayyyyy!!!
That's good news! I sure hope the rest of the process goes smoothly for you.
-
Congratulations. I know your question on the spelling was a first for me and I had no clue. But glad it will all be sorted out. Can't have the family be all misspell all over the place. This is great news. Mercies journeys.
Thanks, Dwheels. Thank you also for all you do on VJ by maintaining this thread and helping so many people. I hope that you are having a good vacation.

Visa approved this morning!
Based on the quick phone call with my spouse, the interview was fairly easy. We were concerned with having to explain/justify why we filed the I-864W and proving domicile. Didn't come up at all. Only sticky issue is name spelling. The embassy will issue the visa with the Scandinavian vowel ø spelled out as oe, but the sympathetic consular officer said that it may be possible to correct it at POE so that the green card will simply have an o. (My spouse has history in the US, so maintaining the same name spelling is important. Also important to us that the whole family has the same last name spelling. The kids names were automatically spelled with an o by the US government for passports, etc.)
Best of luck to all those still waiting to interview!

Husband had his interview today at the Johannesburg, South Africa consulate today and was approved! I am so relieved and excited, can't even describe the weight you feel lifted!!!
He said they asked several easy questions
1. Where did you two meet?
2. What does he do for work in South Africa?
3. What are our plans in the states- where are we living? What will he do for work?
That's all I got from him so far. He said he felt so confident having all of our documents organized as he saw lots of others that had forgotten originals, or were being turned away because they didn't have required documentation. BE PREPARED!!! Good luck to all!
Thrilled to see the wonderful news. So very happy for you.

Thanks to everyone for all of the helpful replies regarding what can be taken into the embassy in Stockholm. Much appreciated.

my wife interview will be at Stockholm, Sweden. I plan to fly over on her interview date.
Due to the language limited, Will they let me in with her for the interview to be her supporter as well as interpreter ?
Due to space limitations, the petitioner is not typically allowed inside the embassy in Stockholm at the time of the interview.
Below is information regarding an interpreter, per the email appointment notice received from the Stockholm embassy:
If you do not speak Swedish or English you must bring a translator to your interview, your petitioner may not translate for you. For a list of authorized translators please see: http://www.kammarkollegiet.se/
For post specific instructions regarding arrival at the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm, please see: http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Supplemental/STK%20-%20Stockholm.pdf

Maybe get him a document folder? That's what I used and it was fine.
Hmm, well if you were allowed to have that at the embassy in Copenhagen I feel it would be strange if they wouldn't allow it in Stockholm. All embassies should have the same rules after all.
Perhaps I got by with my messenger bag because I'm a woman. They may have considered it my purse. All of our docs are in a plastic folder, which is fairly secure, but not waterproof. If it rains, those pages will be a mess.
The ban on big bags/luggage makes perfect sense to me, but it would be nice if they clarified what is acceptable. No one wants to be turned away on interview day because they brought an item that is not allowed.

Seems briefcases are not allowed:
To think about when visiting the Embassy:
All visitors to the Embassy are subject to an airport-type screening. When planning your visit here, bring only what is needed for your business with us. If you have items with you that cannot be taken into the Embassy, you may either not be let into the Embassy, or the items will be confiscated by the security guards. All items are subject to inspection and your wait time outside the Embassy depends on the items you and other visitors bring.
Here is a list of items not allowed in the Embassy:
Cameras;
Cell phones;
Laptops;
Any other electronics, such as MP3 players, I-Pods, etc. (No item with a wire, battery, or circuit board may be brought into the Embassy);
Large shopping bags;
Luggage, large backpacks, briefcases;
Tools of any size, such as leathermans, Swiss army knives, etc.;
Weapons of any kind.
There is a limited storage space for small items such as electronic equipment, cellular telephones or I-pods at the embassy entrance. We do not have lockers or storage facilities for bigger luggage at the Embassy. We suggest you make good use of the storage facilities at the main bus/train station in Stockholm (Centralstationen), or at the airport.
Dang! I've used my messenger bag at the embassy in Copenhagen without any problems, so I thought my husband's soft briefcase (pretty much the same size) wouldn't be an issue. I guess he'll have to put the folder of paperwork in a plastic grocery store bag to protect from rain or loss, 'cause there's no way I'm going to talk him into carrying a purse!

I translated a few documents sent to NVC for my spouse's visa. I simply added a text box to the translations certifying that I was competent in the language or something similar. I followed guidelines I found on VJ. No problems whatsoever. I remember seeing instructions from the embassy that mentioned official translators, but that was long after our stuff was submitted. Perhaps it makes a difference if documents are submitted directly to the embassy. Just wanted to share my personal experience from 2014/2015.
