    Question...

I submitted all my documents to CEAC on August 23rd. Exactly two weeks later (Sept 6th), they reviewed my documents and said my birth certificate wasn't the right one. I had already ordered the right version online because @Meghan&Gene was kind enough to share her experience with me and she ran into the same issue. Finally it came in the mail on Tuesday, September 11th and I uploaded it to CEAC the same day and clicked "Submit."  Now, I'm waiting for them to review it so I can get my case complete date and be added to the line to wait for an interview.  Does anyone know how long it usually takes for them to review a re-submitted document? I expected to be quicker than 2 weeks, but maybe I just went back in the line and it'll be around 2 weeks again. I guess if it's 2 weeks, I should have case complete around this upcoming Tuesday or hopefully before or right after!

All my required documents were accepted today but my Canadian permanent resident card that I submitted as optional document under "OTHER" category in civil documents was rejected because the correct category should be "proof of legal residence in foreign country". I have deleted the rejected document and re-uploaded the document under correct category.

On my login page I still see both AOS and CIVIL DOCUMENTS submission status as ACCEPTED. However when I click on civil documents, there I see the optional document I just submitted as SUBMITTED while all other documents are marked as ACCEPTED.

    MY question is:

    1. Do I have a case complete since all my mandatory documents have been accepted?

    2. How long does it take to have re-submitted document reviewed? Does it take same amount of time as the first time submitting all the documents or is faster?

I had my interview this morning.

    All went smoothly.

I was not asked to provide the new fingerprint standard. The old one was fine. Since they didn't require the new guidlines, I wasn't about to open up a can of worms by asking questions.

Sorry, it's been 15 months to get to this point.

I received my case complete email this morning yay.  On another thread, i read that 3 people have gotten an interview date today for the Montreal Consulate.  All 3 of those had their case complete in July and got their interview for this October.

Honestly, I am confused at their level of stupidity in having such non-coherent requirements. The only way we'll know what is going on is by the experience of the folks who are having their interviews done this week.

They will not have the fingerprints on the certificate.  Went to my RCMP today and that's what she told me.

The way I look at it, is yes, this SUCKS. like a lot. But, as long as I still keep getting asked for documents, as long as I keep getting "yes but" and never a Nope/rejected... then I'm still in this process, i'm still moving forward.

We all got this. We will get there, and get married and be with our loved one soon enough ❤️

Oh wow. The travel.state.gov lists this:

Special Seal(s) / Color / Format:  The Certified Criminal Record Check must display the applicant’s fingerprints and be requested under the Privacy Act.

Same thing happened to me... so not helpful. Especially since people who have contacted the NVC were told to contact the Montreal Consulate!

This was the Montreal Consulate's reply to my email (in which I asked specifically which police check was required):

    Hello,

    Thank you for your inquiry.

The NVC does all the pre-processing for all the Consulates worldwide and schedules the immigrant visa appointments on our behalf for all the cases that are documentarily qualified.

Please contact the NVC for any updates on your case and next steps in processing. The NVC contact details are available here https://nvc.state.gov/ask

We hope that this information is helpful in replying to your inquiry.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Commissionaires in downtown Toronto responded to my email:
we have been advised that we can process these requests as indicated on the U.S. instruction list, with the following caveats:

RCMP will process the requests, but they have asked that we advise clients of the following:
    ·         Results will not be certified by RCMP and therefore won’t be embossed, nor display any fingerprints beside the photo as the certified results do
    ·         Results have to be sent directly to the individual, 3rd party addresses will not be accepted
    ·         Results are likely to take much longer than the regular 3 business day processing time

I basically had the same experience. I was able to get the non-certified "privacy act" criminal record check with the RCMP, but the RCMP also recommended getting the certified finger print criminal record check under "visa/border" reasons... just to cover ALL bases. So I did both (plus I stupidly got just a name search certified criminal record check last month without any finger prints at all, before any of this new information appeared 😒). Either way, I will have certified and non certified documents to bring with me from the RCMP. All documents have the same results too, so I imagine bringing both the certified finger print criminal record check and non-certified privacy act document will be fine.

Just returned from the RCMP and asking for my Certified Criminal Record Check. They only charged me $25.00 even though the charge should have been,  I think she said $101.00. She said each time the computer system is used for a finger print Certified Criminal Record Check the charge is $101.00 but since I was just there on Aug 27/2018 and already paid $76.00 (hope this amount is right) for the name and date of birth search she would only charge me $25.00. 😊 I had the Printout again with me, from the NVC website, showing the exact requirements effective Sept 10/2018 (today). I strongly stated that the finger print Certified Criminal Record Check must have the information stated from the NVC and pointed to the Printout showing the new requirements. The information officer read it twice and also kept the printout with my written request. She acknowledged that yes they are all now aware of this new requirement, they weren't before but are now and that they did not receive much notice of this change. She said that it is a big change requesting a Certified Criminal Record Check and she made it sound like its a big deal going through the Privacy Act to get this information.
All throughout the conversation, she did not mention anything about anything being certified or uncertified so I asked and she said all "Certified Criminal Record Checks" are sent to Ottawa and are Certified.
Besides the written request for the Certified Criminal Record Check and the Payment of $25.00 she also took my picture (she said was only for the local RCMP use) then also my finger prints were taken (first my right hand, then my left hand and at the same time my 2 thumbs). She said I should receive the results in about 2 weeks but sometimes it is 120 days. I asked it what circumstances would it be 120 days and she did offer much of an explanation except that the request is sent to Ottawa, they had to go through the Privacy Act and it depends how many requests Ottawa has at the same time my request is received.

I would encourage you to email the consulate and ask if this applied to folks who will submit the police certificate to NVC before 10 September AND/OR to the people who will interview before 10 September?

It will be a great help for the rest of us. I am going to be calling NVC tomorrow, and see if they give a meaningful answer.
