  1. 42 days seems to be their standard answer. It apparently takes 42 days just to be assigned a freaking case number right now. That's what they're telling me right now. They're so frustrating.

It took 22 days for them to receive our case from Nebraska after NOA2. Nebraska claimed our case left their premises four and a half to five days after NOA2. I FIRMLY believe that NVC receives batches of cases and lets them sit in crates somewhere and only scans them as received on their own sweet time so they can spread out their receiving dates and make it look like actual processing is taking less time.

    They're screwing us all over.

Did you see a status update online on the USCIS site or did you just wait for the welcome letter from the NVC? It would be nice if I don't really have to wait for that long but at the same time relived as the AOS paperwork is scaring the bajeezus out of me! haha. :D So I have more time to mentally prepare I guess. I'll see this as a blessing in disguise then!

  2. You could contact NSO and ask about doing the report of marriage there, but odds are you have to report it through the consulate servicing the state you were married in.

Luckily it can all be done by mail. Sadly this process takes WEEKS

I called up the consulate that has the jurisdiction over our marriage, and sadly, the man on the other line doesn't seem to be sure as to what to tell me, but I did ask if I can report it directly to DFA manila, and he said yes.. though I have to clarify that with DFA then.. I am just waiting for them to open so I can call them up asap..

yes that is the sad part, takes a while, but I guess it's alright sir, since I just got approved NOA2 and the NVC stage seems to be a very long phase due to backlogs and high approval rates of petitions from the USCIS.. fingers crossed all of the paperwork needed would be just at the right time when I have to submit them..

oooooooh these processes will turn my hair grey so fast.. I can now see several on my head. lol.

  3. Hi,

So apparently I thought I was off the hook, the USEM doesn't need Report of Marriage from NSO (I was married in the US) but to obtain a CFO sticker, I have to "report my marriage abroad" so I can submit this paper where it states that I am married to my husband. (NSO produced)... I am back in the Philippines and apparently I HAVE TO REPORT IT TO THE PHIL EMBASSY in New York..

    My question is:

    1. Can I just report it here since I'm in PH?

    2. If not, how can I get a certified true copy of my passport? What's the procedure? Can I just go to DFA or do I have to go to different law offices for that? I tried googling it but to no avail, I just couldn't find the answers or the clear steps...

Please help, this CFO is getting on my nerves. :dead::bonk::blink:

    Thanks in advance..

  4. I'm about ready to buy flight tickets for my parents to visit me in the US, but I have some concerns. I would like to buy them round trip tickets, but I don't know yet how long my parents would get the length of stay in the US. Also, if I buy one way tickets, I'm worry the the officer in the port of entry (airport) won't let them in since they don't have returning tickets yet. My question is, which one should I go with; round trip or one way tickets?

If any of you ever have experience like this, please do share.

I'm looking forward to some responses here, and appreciate it a lot for your time to help me out!

    Thank You!

Purchase round trip tickets that your parents intend to stay, and if they are given 6 months and you want them to stay around for over a little of 3 months you can call up the airline to have the date (flight back) changed. Some airlines charge you but some gives you options as to which date is free of charge.

*based on my experience as I extended my stay (which was supposed to be only 1.5 months and when I was allowed 6, I stayed til it was around 4 months) when I first went there as for me spending time with family is never enough. :) The airline I got was Korean Airlines, free of charge for changing the dates.

  5. My pd date is October 3, 2014 and i still haven't heard anything and i am not able to see my case online. It says case not found. :(

Sorry about that, have you tried calling them? Some say that the case will reflect when you either get approved or get an RFE.. I am really sorry because I know it can be frustrating trying to just be with your husband/wife.. and all you can do is wait for their decision. :(

I will keep my fingers crossed that you get an update soon. Hang in there..

  6. How many days you get your noa1? Upon tracking to usps it was delivered already today monday here in us thanks alot :)

got my NOA1 on the 22nd (email and text) and then the hardcopy was 26th. :) We sent the forms on the 16th.

for NOA1 it's 7 to 14 days for a hardcopy normally, my timeline might be wrong but that's just what I have observed from the threads I have been reading. :)

  7. Well we are here to tell you - YOU GOT THIS! - just use all of our knowledge (and they know A LOT). Make 1, 2, 3, 4 trail filings to make sure that there are absolutely no errors. Sweating the small things like yes you should put N/A on everything or NONE or 0 - Just be consistent. You will hear all types of stories - Saylin does say that N/A on blank spots so you'd be smart to follow her instructions.

You got this! All the best!:thumbs:

thank you you're very nice! :) yes I try to always read her posts as much as possible! thank you again

  8. No you do not have to report your marriage to the Philippines, that is a choice not a requirement. The marriage certificate (certified copy) you present at the interview will be from whatever state here in the USA your marriage was performed. NSO CENOMAR or CEMAR are only for marriages from within the Philippines according to the embassy instructions letter.

    3. MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE (if applicable). For Philippine marriages, copies must be issued
by the National Statistics Office (NSO) on security paper (not from the Local Civil Registry
Office). You may call the NSO Information Center at (632) 737-1111 to inquire about securing a
marriage certificate or visit their web site at http://www.census.gov.ph.

oh wow what a relief! thank you so much!

  9. Hi,

I am not really experienced with this so I need help from VJ members (and I appreciate in advance!)

I eloped and married my husband last October 2014.. so instead of me staying there for AOS, we agreed that it's best to have my affairs in order and go home to file the CR1 visa...

I have been reading regarding threads about CEMAR and CENOMAR... I personally don't want to change my last name yet to my married name yet until I am settled in the US.. this is to savor my last name and not really bother with the paperwork now..

Do I have to report my marriage here in the Philippines? Has anyone every encountered that? I really need help as I don't want to have a 221g if ever the time comes for my interview (which is months and months away but I'd like to be prepared early)

    Thanks!

  10. Oh perfect. That makes sense. I guess I'll just have to have a letter explaining the situation will the letter need to be notorized or something ? And congrats on your approval. Hopefully everything will go smooth in my case that's basically the only issue I have. I wish they had like an option like "mailing address" and "physical address" on I-130. And i was filling out the G325A and I actually put the address where we actually live

we didn't have the explanation letter notarized. :) he just signed and dated it.

yeah as long as everything is organized and explained it will all be well. i do agree they should have a section where they ask for the mailing and residential address! anyways, ty and goodluck on yours! :)

*oh I do remember I also signed and dated the explanation letter. I remember making sure both of us signed just in case. :D I was that scared of RFE's.

  11. I never thought I would be typing this message, but here I am. I married my wife on 11/7 on a K1 visa. Today she revealed to me that the only reason she wants to be with me was to get a visa to bring her family here. We haven't filed AOS yet. What should I do?

wow, so sorry to hear this.

send her home. don't listen to her sad stories.. there's no justification into fooling someone like this. it's women like that that some of us Filipinas get judged right away by other people when we are really just committed into the relationship.

very very sorry to hear this.

  12. I had the same situation as yours, I am not DCF though I don't know if there's a big difference when it comes to I-130's. Our is just a normal CR1 process..

What we did with that is to put the actual mailing address on the I-130 form, and then for the G325a put your actual physical address. Then do not forget to include a letter explaining the situation as to why the mailing and residential addresses are different. In our case my husband lives in a condo so his email either gets stolen or just doesn't get delivered so we opted for his parents address. Do not forget to mention that there's a letter explaining the addresses on your cover letter.

It worked, we got our petition approved recently and we get hardcopies of the receipt sent through the mailing address (parent's). :)

*I meant mails, not emails. All of his mails are sent there.

  13. I do not personally know both of you.. and I feel the pain of not having your Significant Other near.

She may or may not get a visa.. it all depends on her situation.. she needs to have strong ties to the Philippines or traveled to a different country just to show that she is really capable of coming back.

Do you have any family that can at least watch over your mom even just for a few days? Online romance is something and can lead to something great, but often we have this expectation of someone and when we meet them they don't meet the expectation.. you need at least some sort of personal contact to know if you truly fit.

I don't want to burst your bubble but the best step would be to visit her.. but, if you really can't, risk the tourist visa, but if you do get married have her go home. Some would encourage you to do an adjustment of status right away, but you have to really think hard about it, this is marriage, it's a lifetime commitment. Be sure you know who you're marrying. Plus there's a risk that they would see it as fraud.

  14. Once your I-130 has been approved from USCIS, it will be sent to NVC (a part of the Department of State). Depending what service center the I-130 is coming from, this can take anywhere from a few business days to a few weeks. You may or may not get an email from USCIS/update on their website stating when it was sent.

You won't get correspondence from NVC when they receive your case from USCIS. You need to call an operator at NVC to find this out.

    http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

copy that thank you! can the beneficiary (me) call or it's supposed to be just the petitioner?

  15. Congrats

    thank you!

Congratulations!!! I hope the rest goes as smoothly and quickly :)

    Good luck!!

    I hope so too!

Congrats curiousgeorgina! onto the next step! :)

    yes :) thank you!

    Congratulations, Kels2487! :jest:

Hopefully those approved recently don't have to wait too long to get started at NVC. :clock:

sorry to barge in on the message, but where do we find out if it is with the NVC? Or the NOA2 will tell me where to go?
