If you need a co-sponsor, then the CAr1 is the bet bet. You can marry in the courthouse and file for the CR1 then return to PHL... But do not overstay your visa... The processing is about a year... Upon arrival on the CR1 you will be able to work etc...
Thank you for that and yes, I won't overstay. Did you go throught the CR1 route too? And what are mostly causes of delay?

Hi Everyone,
I am very new to this forum, and I have been researching about my situation.
I am currently in the US, 2 months more and I have to go home when my now fiance popped the question.. we've been together now for a little over the year and of course I said yes.
My question is, we don't want a big wedding, we are actually opting for a civil wedding as we just don't like to be apart and visiting just won't do anymore as (everyone has experienced, distance sucks. ) what is better, a CR1 or K1? We were supposed to go for a K1 when we realized cosponsorship is not really accepted (is this true) in Manila Embassy.. and CR1 does. (my sister can co sponsor as she is a green card holder and a doctor here)
His situation, he is self employed, but due to recession he doesn't earn that well right now so having an income over 125% won't cover it and he is well below that now. He does have savings and assets though.
Will the embassy recognize our civil wedding (before I leave the US)? I have no problem going home as I do want to avoid that "fraudulent visa use" accusation because I am here using my tourist visa (visiting family and him).
I don't really know where to begin as we just want to be together and finding which visa gives us a bigger chance. If you have experiences or any opinions that might give us an idea what to do, it'll gladly be of help.
Thank you very much in advance.
Thanks.

oh wow, nice. what kind of requirements/paperwork did you present to get married at the courthouse?
yeah the long wait is what we don't like but if this is the safer way might as well go through with this..
