I finally arrived home! I made my immigrant entry to the US two days ago.
POE at JFK was breezier than breeze. It took me about 7 minutes to finish up immigration. Upon arrival I asked one of the officers which counter to go to as a new immigrant and they have a special room for it. They have a Room 4 which I never visited before during any of my previous US trips obviously, as I was a non immigrant before. The two officers in room four could not have been nicer. They extended their welcome saying " Welcome back home, New Yorker!"
They asked me for the IV packet and my passport. The IV packet was crumpled but fully intact from its journey from Mumbai consulate to my address in India. I was nervous about that, as I had kept the rest of the documents in immaculate condition. But the officers dismissed my concern with wave saying it was actually one of the better condition IV packets they have seen. They did not take my chest x-Ray from me, which I was carrying in my hand luggage and guarding with my life, because of its unusual size, it did not really properly fit into anything. But the officer said as my medical report was fine they don't need the chest x-Ray. But he advised me not to throw it away and keep it till the GC reaches home, just incase. The other officer took my signature and finger print on a form which I guess is going to be used for the GC. One of the officers wrote my hubby's new address on the immigrant summary page next to his printed old address, as his address has changed in last ten days.
They asked me how much money I was carrying and were okay with my answer.
The only problem I faced was when I came to the luggage claim area. After 45 minutes of waiting, my luggage was nowhere in sight! And then I had to wait another hour just to file a missing luggage report with the airline. Talk about ruining a perfectly nice day! With so much delay at the luggage claim, I could only imagine what my poor hubby was feeling waiting outside for me to make an appearance in the arrival hall.
Finally I was out of there with just my cabin luggage. Even losing a whole bunch of nice clothes and fancy shoes could not dampen my mood as my man was waiting for me outside! We just looked at each other for few seconds, before he lifted me in the air, heavy backpack on my back and all, and said "God, you got heavier!" ;-) (well, I might have eaten one too many pastries in search of comfort during this long a$$ immigration process ;-)
The first thing I noticed about him was he has so many gray hairs now, while previously he barely had any ! "Effect of immigration process", he informed me. But oh well, all's well that ends well :-) and my kitty cat would agree who is cozying up to his mama as mama types this post.
I thank everyone on VJ for support and invaluable immigration knowledge I have gained in last few months reading up here.

Seems like you know a good deal about the immigration process before actually going into it, so saves you from some stupid mistakes many people make because they have no clue what they are doing (I am talking about my own mistakes here of which there are many :-)
Since you are ware of the evidence necessary to prove a genuine marriage, you are better suited to collect as much evidence you can while you are still with your hubby, COs like to look at pretty pictures, that's what I gathered from my own experience. The waiting can be frustrating, particularly if there are any stupid mistakes in paper work involved. So be thorough with that. And good luck, the wait will seem brutal and during the middle of it you might start regretting many things, but during this wait time a couple's devotion to each other also really shows the true nature of the person you have chosen as your life partner.

Furthermore, my tourist visa was not even cancelled during my immigrant visa interview and was left as it was!
I asked the embassy specifically about using tourist visa during immigration process and their answer was " As long as your purpose of visit matches the visa you are using you can go ahead with it. If your visa is valid, unmarked and not damaged, you are okay to use it. However, we can not guarantee what will happen at the point of entry as it depends upon the discretion of the CBP officer.

Technically, yes you can.
Practically it, is not a good idea because if the CO even remotely thinks you are married, you will be denied for the K1. All it takes is them seeing a photo of you in what looks like a wedding dress, or a friend/ neighbour/ employer they contact for background check saying "oh yeah his wife..." or "oh year at their wedding..." and you;re done.
Nothing wrong with two weddings, but have the fake one after the real one.

If the US was truly worried about national security it would fix the open borders and stop the open flow of people without authority to immigrate.

Your brother should not lose heart. DNA testing for children, particularly the ones without overwhelming evidence of tons of pictures with the parent etc, is quite common. Once the results are in and the PD is still current, a visa will be issued, provided there is no other ban or problem etc.

I am glad they are raising the fees. I am I Bill Gates, you might ask. The answer, dear friends, is no. I am not, I do not have spare change to throw around, also I am not a dude. So being Bill Gates is pretty much ruled out.
Then why am I advocating higher bills? For the following reasons:
1. US immigration has one of the cheapest fees in the world, other countries like Australia charge way more than USCIS. Australia charges somewhere in the vicinity of $6000 for its immigration fees. So, USCIS might actually NEED this money, as opposed to just raising the fee for fun and giggles.
2. It might encourage USCIS to hire MORE PEOPLE, to do the job faster. With sudden increase in their workload for various reasons, more people are desperately needed to do the job. USCIS employees are paid mainly from the fees we pay, so they do need the money for more peeps.
You go USCIS, do what you need to do to deal with extra workload. P.s., I love your customer support line, phone is picked up immediately and answered in the most polite way possible. We need that prompt service from NVC where spending an hour of one's life chewing the nails, listening to same muzak over and over again and waiting for a person to take your call is considered a lucky break.

I assume this June retro was just for nothing. There was no shortage of visa numbers, they just stopped it thinking they might run out, but they did not. So there is a very good chance that F2A is coming back to almost where it was before the retro. I pray for everyone who have been away from their loved ones for so long.

Immigration guys should just charge a few bucks extra, hire more people and get things moving a bit faster. We are all just getting old here waiting waiting and waiting to start that life.......Le Sigh!
