Each case is different. It does not hurt to try, so try. Even if it's denied at least you will know you did everything you could.

Oh trust me I've been through all the AP topics too, and now my new obsession is searching the topics that talk about "Ready" and what happens next. I just want this "journey" to be over! ?

So my fiancé had his interview March 3, 2015 and we've been in AP ever since, until today when CEAC updated to READY. If you remember from one of my previous posts my fiancé brought the incorrect version of his birth certificate to his interview. He went alone, my presence wasn't required but in hindsight I'm sure if I went this would've never happened because he assured me he had the correct format but, whatever. It took an email from my congressman's office to the embassy to find out about the birth certificate. They never contacted us to let us know this and we had been waiting for nothing...
Anyway, he returned the required birth certificate on April 6, 2015 and by April 15, 2015 I got really anxious because they had not updated the status nor confirmed he brought the right birth certificate so I emailed my Congressman's office AGAIN. I just wanted to know if they received it and had not forgotten about us as we sat in AP. It was really beginning to put a strain on us and I was tired of waiting when others from DR are getting visas in three days from their interviews!
Yesterday, the liaison I've been working with from my Congressman's office emailed me the response she received from the embassy that they are just back logged but they did receive his new birth certificate but it could be 2-3 weeks more. I thanked her for inquiring and prepared to wait a few more weeks. Today, however, the status went from AP to READY. I strongly believe the inquiry helped our case. Our case was straightforward so I'm sure that's helped as well but the fact that I needed a Congressional inquiry every step of this AP nightmare is absurd. If your case is simple, I highly recommend putting your tax dollars to good use!
    3/3/2015 - Interview (Approved)
    3/4/2015 - AP
3/10/2015 - date updated, but still in AP
4/6/2015 - fiancé brought birth certificate; date updated, but still in AP
4/10/2015 - date updated, still in AP
4/16/2015 - Congressional inquiry; date updated, still in AP
    4/17/2015 - READY!!!
Now I'm just waiting for the next steps! I hope the status updates to ISSUED next week! Hoping to catch a break!

Have you written letters to each congressman and congresswoman for your state?
One of them will respond and submit a congressional inquiry into your case. You should expect a reply within a month, but your issue will be recorded. The more people who complain and have congressional inquiries, the more pressure is put on DHS and USCIS.
Even if you have only waited 4 months, you should write to your congressional representatives. The more we are a pain in their butts, the more pressure they will put on DHS and USCIS. Sh!t rolls downhill. Let's keep it rolling,

SO on point. Anyone who thinks that those who have had to wait 200+ days, and watch others' take less time than that for the entire process, will NOT just forget the heartache they've suffered. This year won't just disappear when my future husband is here. I will not easily forget a year I spent battling depression and outbursts of crying and feeling as though your hearts being ripped out of your chest.
We all know what it feels like to be separated from our loved ones. But how it feels to be separated while also seeing that it's unnecessary and due to others' incompetencies is a whole nother beast I fight every day.
Day 134, and to think I may be facing 70+ more. Seventy.
    Congrats on escaping tsc.

So had my interview today and was approved, and whilst obviosuly happy this post is not about that, I write this for all those still waiting at TSC, you are not forgotten my friends!
I know the disparity between TSC and CSC processing times isn't exactly the biggest injustice in the world, but it is staggering that an organisation with the funding and size of USCIS can't sort it's s**t out, processing some people in a month while others in a year, for no other reason that geographical location.
I've been through almost a year of hell waiting at TSC while others sail through at CSC in a month or two. And you can say well its over now, or it will soon be forgotten, but I don't forget, and it will take a while for the scars to heal.
Am i being dramatic, well yeah a bit, a lot worse happens in the world, but thats not the point. Being seperated from your loved one for a year while others only face a couple months apart, when those people are paying the same for the same process is ridiculous. There are STILL people waiting at TSC who applied the sae time as me, so this is for you, I feel your pain, I'm praying for you and you are not forgotten, apart from by those working at TSC. For those at TSC, good luck, and god bless, I made it, just, you will too.

Before we spend a lot of electrons beating up the OP, let's remember a few things:
    1) The US as well as many other great countries grant citizenship to anyone born within its borders-- legal immigrants, tourists, undocumented folks, and so forth
    2) If you were not a USC, and you had the chance for your kids to be US citizens I wager that every single person on this board would take advantage of that opportunity
    3) Taking advantage of whatever benefits the government provides to legal immigrants, tourists, and undocumented folks-- US, CA, or whatever -- is not against the law
    4) You may not agree with some facets of any law, but if it is legal, it is legal
Now to the OP -- he offered to repay MediCal -- certainly not something most folks would do. But let's get someone from CA to answer the question -- does MediCal provide benefits to undocumented folks or not. And to the OP -- was your wife legally in the country at the time.

90 days has nothing to do with anything right now, you are nowhere near that stage. That's after she is already in the states after the 8 to 12 month process of going the K-1 route.
In terms of the K-1, at this time, I would say you don't have enough evidence to prove a bonafide relationship...

Also, her son thing...don't take it lightly...
I've seen in play out this way at the beginning of the relationship,
but once she is in US and expect likelihood of either her or her son
eventually wanting to live in US.
May not be a bad thing for you...but it's something to keep in mind.
If you are flexible to live and work in other countries,
perhaps the best option is to go live in Colombia and give

Okay so long story semi-short: my fiancé had his 3/3. He was approved and told to bring his medical results to the VAC once he picked them up. He did not have them in time for the interview but they would be ready after the interview was conducted so this is why he was advised this.
He picked up the results and brought them to the VAC and then the waiting game began for us to get ready for the email that stated his visa was ready for pick-up. Three weeks later and we were still waiting for that email. I made numerous calls to USTRAVELDOCS and all they told me was that we were in AP and to wait for further instruction and it should be over in 60 days. When I asked why I wasn't able to track the passport they said "you can't? well you should be able to." ?
Finally I took the advice of another VJer (ILoveMyMan) and emailed my Congressman directly. Luckily we already have been working together since the USCIS stage (thanks to my weekly emails complaining about the TSC/CSC timeframe discrepancies) so I didn't have to worry about filling out a release form or waiting for someone to respond.
When I emailed her about being in AP she said it's normal for some cases and she can't inquire on my behalf until the 60 days passed. I was so tired of hearing this so I took a different angle, I also mentioned to her I didn't mind waiting but the fact that I couldn't track the passport ("there is no status update for the passport number submitted..") I asked if she could at least get me a location of the passport while I "wait". Since before it said it was still at embassy/consulate and now it said "no status".
She emailed me back two days later with the response from the embassy. The told her that on 3/10 they contacted me to tell me that my fiancé needed to bring his birth certificate. This makes sense because on the CEAC site it said last updated 3/10 however, I WAS NEVER CONTACTED FOR THIS! I asked my fiancé did he bring it to the interview and he said yes but now we think he didn't bring the "Acta Extensa (long version" they were looking for and this was causing the hold up. My congressman said go bring it and let her know so she can call her contact and let them know its been delivered so we can have him here ASAP! Maybe within a week!
All in all, I am happy I did not settle for this AP status because sometimes the embassy needs something from you and have "contacted" you but of course you never heard anything from them. Now I know some people have real reasons for being in AP (security checks, background checks etc) but make sure you don't wait a long time before finding out exactly why. You never know, they could be missing something as simple as a birth certificate. I would've waited 60 days and still have not heard anything from them...and would've been waiting in vain!
