My&Truong got a reaction from TNguyen501 in IR-5 interview
Thank you! I just want to make sure my internet isn’t the issue. I called them but couldn’t get a representative. I will wait for my mom to be here tomorrow, they’ll probably send a notice. We’ll see what we need to do next.

My&Truong got a reaction from luukee in interview scheduled - couple of questions
Call the hospital to schedule her appointment. I did at Cho Ray and it was pretty fast (half day for medical exam and the vaccination).

My&Truong reacted to hellraiser in need quick answers
Passpoet, interview/appointment letter. Usually they will send a list with what your fiancé will need to appear for interview; however accessing the security to go for interview may not require all of them. Though this may vary by countries but in general a passport and appointment/interview letter would be enough.
Good luck with your interview

My&Truong reacted to frontgear in Package 3 received?
If you are referring to the docs that need to be turned in at the interview, you dont need to translate them to English. The consulate will accept docs in both languages.

My&Truong reacted to frontgear in Package 3 received?
First, check your case status on the CEAC website. If you dont have your case number, call the NVC and get one. You will need the case # to check the status.
Next, If you already have your case # and have been checking the status on the CEAC website, if the status is showing READY, it means the consulate has received either the electronic version of your case or the physical case itself. If you have not been checking its status, you might want to start doing that. Pay close attention to the Last Updated Date. Every time your case is "touched", the date will be updated.
Lastly, if the status is READY and the last updated date has been 2 weeks or more, send an inqiry to the consulate staff using its online inquiry form. You will need your case # in addition to your passport number to fill out this online inquiry. There is a drop-down list where you can select "I havent received my Packet 3" or something like that, and the staff will respond by the next business day.
Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

My&Truong reacted to XXXYYYZZZ in Only 1 date of interview available for K1 visa?
Check everyday. Sometimes people cancel and days open up. November and December are not open for interview dates yet. If I remember correctly the next month opened on the 3rd Monday of this month which might be Tuesday now because Monday is a US holiday. Keep checking. Once the new month opens it books up fast.

My&Truong reacted to Longrangeshootr in DS-160 Need help again
I found this, Don't panic. Although it's true that the State Department has not provided a way to go back into an already-completed DS-160, alternatives do exist. (You are not the first person to have faced a similar problem!) You have two options, as follows:
Check how many days have gone by since you submitted the original application. If it is less than 30 days, go back to the "Apply for a Nonimmigrant Visa" page of the State Department website. Click the tab for Retrieve an Application. You will be asked to enter your application ID number. Next, the system will ask whether you want to go to the confirmation page or create a new application. Select create a new application, and your whole application will appear, except the part about your travel plans to the United States. At that point, you can edit and update the information and submit it once again. You will be given a new confirmation and bar code.
The second option depends on your having saved onto your computer the data file, called a ".DAT file," from your original application. If you did, you can draw on the information you submitted by again going to the "Apply for a Nonimmigrant Visa" page of the State Department website. This time, click the "Upload an Application" tab. You will be given instructions for accessing your saved file. There is no time limit on this method. After making your changes, save and submit the new application. You will be given a new confirmation and bar code.
The next issue you will need to deal with is whether you used the first DS-160 submission to book your visa appointment or pay the MRV fee. If so, you will need to bring to your interview BOTH the confirmation pages from the new and the original Form DS-160, showing the two separate barcodes.

My&Truong reacted to frontgear in NOA2 received, but now I'm confused.
I think you should be fine. If you still feel uneasy about it, call USCIS and tell them you would like to correct your info on the G-325a. A few people have done this as to prevent possible RFEs wirh their petition, but I think you should be fine.

My&Truong reacted to frontgear in NOA2 received, but now I'm confused.
Since yours is a K-1 visa petition, your case will go to NVC first, where they assign a case number (HCM 2014 XXX XXX), scan your case into their system, and forward it to the consulate in HCMC. The NVC does not collect any visa fees or schedule your interview appt like the other immigration cases (spousal visa, for example).
After the consulate receives your case, they will mail your fiancee Packet 3 (aka Instruction Package). The consulate actually receives the electronic file a day or 2 after NVC sends it, and the actual physical file follows a few days later, usually a week. They do not mail your fiancee Packet 3 until they have received the physical file. Packet 3 contains the letter that you will need to bring to the medical exam and vaccination in HCMC. It also contains instructions on what to do next. I am attaching a PDF document that you can review. This is the same document that the Packet 3 letter will instruct her to go to.
http://photos.state.gov/libraries/hochiminh/231771/PDFs/K-INSTRUCTION.pdf
When your fiancee receives the Packet 3, she should follow the instructions on the Packet 3 letter to mail back the required documents (DS-160, 2 visa photos, and a copy of her valid Vietnamese passport). To fill out the DS-160 form online, go to https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/. She will need to print out the Confirmation Page of DS-160 to submit with her documents to mail back to the consulate. It is the last page of the DS-160 form where she signs it electronically. The DS-160 confirmation number is also required for the next step.
Next, she will need to go to ustraveldocs.com site (link here: https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/SiteRegister?country=&language=) and create an online account. She will need her Vietnamese passport number and the DS-160 confirmation number from the previous step for this. After she has filled in all of the required information, she will need to print a deposit slip (from the same site) to take to any HSBC branch or local Post Office to pay for her Visa fee (which is $240 for each person). Within 24 hours after she pays the Visa fee, she will get an email saying that she is ready to book her interview appointment. If, for some reason, she doesn't receive this email, she can go to the ustraveldocs.com site to schedule the interview. After she books the interview appt, make sure she prints the Appointment Confirmation letter for the next step.
Next, she will schedule her medical exam and vaccinations in HCMC. She will need to bring the Appointment Confirmation letter, the Packet 3 letter, and a few other pieces of document (see Packet 3 instructions for the list) to the medical exam and vaccination. Make sure she schedules her medical exam well in advance so she'll have enough time to pick up the completed medical exam package before the interview. She will need this medical exam package for the interview.
One thing to keep in mind that, sometimes, the Packet 3 letter will never arrive, as it happened to our case. We waited and waited and after a month it is still no where to be found. Should that happen, you might want to fill out an inquiry on the consulate website and they will email you a copy of the Packet 3 letter. Your fiancee will need this letter for her medical exam and vaccinations. Here's the link to fill out an online inquiry with the consulate.
http://hochiminh.usconsulate.gov/contact/ivinquiries.html
We waited for 2 weeks and decided to inquire. The consulate emailed us a copy of the letter and my fiancee took it to her medical exam & vaccinations.
It is important to note that if you have any questions for the consulate, fill out the online inquiry and they will get back to you within 24 hours, usually by 6 AM your time in the U.S. In my case, it has usually been around 2:30 A.M. ET.
We have just gone through this so send me a PM if you want to discuss it in more details. Or just post your questions in this thread and I will try to help answer as much as I can.
Oh, almost forgot. Tell your fiancee to use EMS for mailing documents to the consulate. It costs very little (about $1 USD at most) and the consulate usually gets it the next day (depends on where she lives). My fiancee lives near central Vietnam and it takes a day for the consulate to get it. A list of EMS locations is attached below.

My&Truong reacted to RichP in vietnam k1 visa just sent it any input is appreciated
I think that your chances are 100 percent. I am the same as you, not previously married, I was told that since I have never been married, and had no children, there would be no red flags -- and she would easily get her visa. We have the interview this Friday.

My&Truong reacted to banjoruth in What Next (K1 visa)? "Post Decision Activity"
I got an E-mail and a letter from USCIS with the same statement! It took a couple of days after the e-mail to receive the letter. Both Notices dated August 12th
Then I received a letter from the NVC dated August 25th.
The letter had our Case #, and USCIS reciept #, as well as our names and location of interview. The NVC letter stated that they are forwarding our I-129 to the embassy in the country of interview. This letter states the consulate will contact her when they are ready to process. It also recommends to go online to ceac.state.gov and complete DS-160 to apply for K visa.
Here is what the Visa Status reads at ceac.state.gov
U.S. Department of State
IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION Ready Immigrant Visa Case Number:xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Case Creation Date: 21-Aug-2014 Status Updated Date: 03-Sep-2014
Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at:http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3731.html
For more information, please visit TRAVEL.STATE.GOV. It is nice to have things moving a bit faster.
Congratulations. To you, and thanks to all here at visajourney.

My&Truong reacted to XXXYYYZZZ in Need help!!! Wrong address information in I129F
I wouldn't worry about this as long as your current address is correct. I screwed up the address when I filed a CRBA in HCMC and the CO just corrected it with red pen on the spot. It wasn't a big deal.

My&Truong reacted to frontgear in Need help!!! Wrong address information in I129F
If it troubles you, I would fill out another G-325a with corrected address and bring it to your interview and hand it to the CO.

My&Truong reacted to JASM in If You Have Been Transferred...Please Post Here (K-1)
I was transferred back on 8/11 so I just checked my case and I did not receive the message many of you did. So far I counted 13 people who reported receiving that message... What's interesting is that most of your timelines for NOA1 are between 4/2 - 4/8 with a few exceptions. Hopefully this all means approvals very very soon for you. You guys have been waiting for a good amount of time, you deserve good news this week.

My&Truong reacted to ktered in If You Have Been Transferred...Please Post Here (K-1)
I guess I am comforted to come here and read that this happened to so many other people tonight. I have been very patient, never check USCIS and haven't even spent a lot of time on Visa Journey until the last few weeks (trusting in the process). I sent our application in March and got our NOA1 in early April so I was fully prepared to wait the full 5 months or so. When I saw that we had been transferred I got my hopes up and then this text and e-mail tonight, really made me excited.....until I read the same thing that all of you read. The same thing I got several weeks saying we had been transferred on 8/11.
I spoke to my fiance tonight and told him I was sad and a little frustrated. As usual, he is the calm and rational one....."it will happen when it's time. What else happened in your day?" Basically, get over it and move on. I know he's right. Dwelling on it will do no good - maybe it was a mistake or a sign but I will as the song say "Let it go!!!!" and keep doing what I need to do and trust that our NOA2 will be here when I least expect it and at exactly the right time for us.
Good luck to all!

My&Truong reacted to BatonRouge Bill in K1 VISA Interview - Is an Engagement Ceremony absolutely needed before the interview?
An engagement ring and reciept as well is nice evidence but proof of face to face meeting is required, dated photos of you two together, and plane ticket stubs, iteneraries etc.
They will not even ask about Dam Hoi until the interview and it is certainly not required. They will ask about when the Marriage will take place and even then if no date is set there is no show stopper. I think you should start the process as the process timeline can randomly vary by a lot. Some folks get the interview 7-8 months after initiating the process or can be much longer like mine at 15 months. So my advice is to start early as possible. It sucks to be apart.

My&Truong reacted to hope2018 in Jobs after arriving US
It was hard when I first came to the US in 2008. The language, lifestyle, culture, and everything were new to me. I tried to find a job, but not very many options was available for a new immigrant with limited English. The situation seemed hopeless. I did part-time cleaning job on the weekend for a short period of time. That job gave me a strong motivation to obtain an education. With the assistance from my in laws, I was able to find a new summer job at a private school. After the summer was over, I found another job at a Vietnamese-owned store. I took ESL classes and passed the TOEFL test. I was accepted into a local university. I enrolled in 3 classes each semester for the first 2 years and became a full-time student after that. I studied at work whenever I could. It took me 5 years to get a Bachelor's degree, but it's worth it.

My&Truong reacted to luckytxn in Jobs after arriving US
Usually short order cooks are wanted and needed. Many start cooking this way and work their way up to better restaraunts and line cooks. My father owned a diner and I remember it was hard to find good cooks. Usually to start this way though they want people to work nights though.
I also love o cook and many keep pushing me to open a place but I remember the hassles of owning ones own restaraunt.

My&Truong reacted to luckytxn in Jobs after arriving US
Good advice if one is capable of doing this. Usually though most need to work and go to school. The best bet is to work as soon as able to do so and earn a living just for the self worth it brings. Some come and do nails and hair and start their own business eventually.

My&Truong reacted to Anonymous885 in How can I join a college after arrving US?
You need to take some types of test from that college such as math and english. Some schools will require TOEFL.
There are a difference between University and College. College is usually offered 2 years degree i.e associate degree and University is offered 4 years or more degree such as Bachelor, Master and Doctor of Phil.
Some students attend at college at the first 2 years school and then transfer to University for 2 more years. Some students go directly to University after high school because they have high school on ACT. Some students have higher ACT score, but does not go to University directly because fiancial issues.
