twofors got a reaction from David & Diana R in Can somebody please explain to me what this letter means?
This is the very best advice. Never trust that someone answering a phone could or would take the appropriate actions to eliminate you from a jury pool list. From my experience you will most likely never be removed and will continue to get these notices as long as you live in the USA. The clerks office is overwhelmed everyday by numerous pending cases. If you ever have to appear in court just look at the pile of papers public defenders have when they appear before the judge.

    OP,
I agree with Harpa. Attorneys involved in immigration should have total understanding of all immigration procedures. Researching your options before making any move is the most important thing anyone can do for themselves. Hiring an attorney doesn't guarantee you will be given all the answers. I find it difficult to understand that your attorney would not have known about AP and advised against leaving until you received it. Perhaps it is easier to understand when one does the process on your own without an attorney. Never the less, everyone should familiarize themselves with all the documents instead of accepting the word of someone not personally involved in the process.
I do simpathize with you as we are a gay couple, but as Harpa said we now must be endure all the same treatment that straight couples have always endured. I truly believe there are just unpleasant people that no matter who they are interviewing will make the experience miserable. My hope for you is that someone in the government will see the honest mistake you made and push your case through. My fiance's only interview, thus far, has been with the Embassy CO. He was so pleasant and helpful to him I can hardly imagine a better experience. After hearing your story, it does make me wonder how our AOS interview will go. No one deserves to be treated like a criminal. Especially if you are already married and living aboard for several years. My simpathies are always with the married couples with children waiting it seems for an eternity for someone to approve their visas.

For those still waiting look at our timeline. God Bless you and just keep the faith. We waited 7 months and 20 days for a response for our NOA2. We are now in the interview stage at the US Embassy in Peru. Our interview is scheduled for August 11. Today was the medical all went well. The Clinic promised us the results by August 8th so we are good to go. I know this is torture to experience such a long period of waiting but in time you will be approved and then watch out it goes very fast.

Gurken Salat please check out this site for DC http://doh.dc.gov/service/birth-certificates You can do online requests through a service that is provided on the website.
What they are asking for is an official certified copy. Sometimes "original" birth certificates are really not certified copies. I was born in the 1962 what my parents received was not a certified copy but a simple copy from the doctor's office of his record of live birth and a fancier card type with a seal from the hospital. Neither of these qualifies as an original certified copy from the state. You can order as many of these as you want. Just make sure you have enough for the numerous occasions you will be asked for them.

Wow! All I can say is Wow! Well no I can say more, but WOW! You have our simpathies. I think you should take some time to really consider the long term affects this type of relationship will have on your soul. Be careful not to make matters more complicated. (a pregnancy for instance). May all the Gods of all the religions of all the Universe have mercy on you. Fiance's brother is going through a divorce with a woman just as you are describing except he has children. NOT PRETTY to watch. And again, WOW!

We have had the same experience in terms of negativity. As the USC trying to bring my fiancé to the USA I was shocked! Most people reacted so badly that I felt as those they felt I was committing some heinous crime. I know my fiancé has gone through similar issues with his friends and family. I have known my fiancé almost 8 years. It was a challenge for us in many ways. But we simply made a commitment to each other and decided to move on with our lives together. We are in the interview stage at the US Embassy waiting for an appointment date. And at this point found the support of new friends and changed the minds of some of the others. Fortunately my family has met my fiancé and truly likes him. They feel much more confident in our relationship and are comfortable talking to him through messaging, Skype, and phone conversations. I feel that people are now less concerned for our decision to be together then they are about the government process. They worry for My fiancé as he is getting ready for the interview and hope the Embassy grants the Visa. Some people will always be negative and will always find reasons for you not to come. This decision is not for the faint of heart as the process is terribly slow and agonizing. But if you truly love your fiancée then who cares what others think? Be matter of fact and start forming alliances with supportive people.

    Hi All,
On June 11th, 2014 at 8:45 P.M. after 7 months and 20 days we finally received our NOA2 Via text, and email from the USCIS. I wanted to be specific for all those VJ members stil waiting for a response. It should help to know that the USCIS will text and email you even at 8:45 at night. Now that could be some kind of delayed transmission on the part of the phone carrier or something else. But never the less, that's when we got it. I can't tell you how happy I am. Last night I swear fireworks and the sound of Louis Armstrong singing It's a Wonderful World were similtaneously going off in my head. My fiance almost fell off his chair as I told him on Skype. I have so much to do it's wonderful to be moving forward. I will be updating my timeline shortly.

Just trying to come down from the incredible high you feel from getting the petition approved and sent on to the NVC. So looking forward to the next few days of gathering information. Seems way to good to be true.

October 2013 filer still waiting for NOA 2. Unfortunately, as is apparent by all the timelines posted, that each case is treated differently. I believe that most people joining this site are looking for answers or support from others going through the visa processes. For those of us still waiting we realize how troubled new members become when the responses are not always positive ones. Please know that we all understand the feelings of anxiety in the beginning and comprehend the fears. Fortunately, I am in a long term committed relationship that knew it would be a long difficult process. I have known my partner (now fiance) 7 years and up until September of last year when the USCIS posted notices allowing for same sex couples to file for I-129F petitions, we were committed to love each other no matter what happened in the future. We feel fortunate that we are now allow to take part in this process and hope our story is an inspiration to others that have for any reason been denied their civil rights to live and love as they choose. We have already placed a service request and last week contacted our congressman. Still waiting for a response from the congressman.

As someone who was once in your shoes of having met someone on line and having no money to travel I can say I completely understand. I was in a relationship for 4 years with a Peruvian before I was financially able to travel so we could meet in person. My fiance had his own business selling promotional items to businesses (like hats with company logos -that type of thing). So to help offset the cost of travel I found items that he could use to promote his business and make more money. My fiance also found addtional work outside his regular job by making use of skills he obtained with a long time hobby. I learned to be better at saving money and finding odd jobs to earn extra cash for the trips. My job requires me to be on call 24/7, but sometimes you have to simply tell people you have a life too. He was eventually able to obtain a tourist visa to the USA and he visted me here 4 times. We met once more in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico in an all inclusive resort that was very reasonable. I sent out my fiance packet in October and we are still waiting for an answer. If you really want this to work you will find a way like we did. I just never thought I would ever travel outside the USA. And less to meet someone. But it happened. And it has opened up a world I never thought possible.

Sorry If I sound naive but if your wife is not in the USA currently, How could putting her on your health insurance currently benefit her? I would think she would be better off keeping health insurance her native country until she arrives. Perhaps you should consult with your HR department and find out if coverage applies for spouses (currently not citizens and not living in the USA). Not sure how that works. If you are concerned over evidence, then perhaps a life insurance policy showing her as the beneficiary would be more applicable at this time.

twofors got a reaction from sweetswinks in TSC and CSC comparison... FAIL.
It seems that to all of us still waiting for a response there is no really acceptable justification for the length of time it is taking to process our petitions. We are October 2013 filers. No actions since November 4th and that was just to asign my fiance an Alien Registration number.Put in a service request after the posted waiting period listed on the USCIS website.
After 17 days of waiting for a response called and talked to a Tier 1 officer. She explained that there was a response to my service request and told me that the petition was put on hold awaiting completion of security checks. She was pleasant and tried to be helpful. Asked to speak with a Tier 2 officer to find out if they could explain about the security checks. First Tier seemed confident that someone would be able to give me more information concerning my case.
Tier 2 officer was not pleasant from the beginning. Ask my question about pending security checks. Answer: "We can't give out that information over the phone." Asked if there was any addtional information about my case or if there was a problem with the petition that was holding the process up. Tier 2 put me on hold and after about ten minutes came back on the phone and abuptly stated, the process takes 6 to 7 months and we are well within the time frame. Wouldn't give me anymore information and actually just hung up the phone once they told me about the waiting period. So the answer from the USCIS was to shut up and wait until they want to finish processing the petition.
I am a US Citizen from birth, can trace family back 5 generations for sure. Fiance is a wonderful man I met over the internet over 7 years ago. We have met in person in 2010 for the first time in Costa Rica. Then I traveled to Peru. He attended my nieces wedding here in the USA in 2011 so lots of pictures. All my friends and family have met him and love him. He came to visit 2 more times and we have traveled together during his visits. We vacationed together in Mexico in August of 2013 and I visited in Peru in December of 2013. We are meeting again in Mexico in May. We chat everyday via phone, or text message, or skype, or facetime. I can't imagine after all the information that was supplied to the USCIS that there is any doubt about our relationship. Addtionally, Security Checks? Neither I or my fiance have never been arrested, always paid our taxes, I have worked at the same job for over 13 years. I have lived in the same place for almost 4 years. He has lived in the same place his entire life. So tell me what could they possibly want? Not like they can't find us.

To those who believe we should go back and read what was written. Trust me we read it carefully enough. Why would any government agency be awarded for doing their jobs? Customer Satisfaction Surveys, E-Verify Section, performance metrics bla bla bla......Please everyday common Americans go to work handling everything thrown at us. Corporations cut back benefits, add duties to already overloaded workers, layoff long time employees, and generally never think of the toll it takes on moral. We work 10, 12 14 hour days without even thinking we have a choice other than being unemployed. Awards should be given to every person that has done their jobs faithfully, shown up when no one else does because a little snow has fallen, and for those of us who simply make a difference in the lives of others by simply doing our jobs to the best of our ability. We pay for those services, those improvements, those awards given to useless agency workers that make our lives a living hell for months and years. Let's be a little more supportive of our fellow visa journey members. And the comment about "Spanish speakers" was really about illegal aliens who spoke Spanish. After all one of the AWARDS was given for increased speed in adding translated content to USCIS.gov español. Given the fact that we are all trying get our loved ones here legally spending hours of our time, lots of money, and an amazing amount of effort to accomplish our goals leads me to believe that some people truly don't understand the impact illegal aliens are taking on us. My love is spanish speaking and I am not offended.
