Some States allow you to take the written in another language, I'm not sure of Michigan. My wife preferred English instead of her native language, since all the road signs here are in English.

The BMV or DMV usually has a hardcopy of a study guide or driver's manual in their offices.
You can also download a PDF from the link Jose & Eli gave.

Read questions very carefully is what I would suggest. It's mainly common sense but without a firm grasp on English it can be difficult.

Many local Social Security workers are not knowledgeable about K1s. That's why the VJ GUIDES for your SSN suggest taking a printout from the SSA website explaining a K1 is eligible and asking for a supervisor if told not eligible. You can get a SSN but you can't work until you have authorization to show with it. (EAD or greencard.)

In California, one may apply for a driver's license with your EAD. That's what I did. I think it's the same as in Michigan. Check this out:

From the link M And C posted, you should be good to go. Just make sure you bring all the evidence they require to prove who you are and where you live.

In Michigan, you should be good to go with your EAD. Bring your NOA1 for the I-485 as well just in case and whatever other docs they require. Here is their info:

I am trying to recall what we did. I believe that they actually took the original vaccination report when you entered the U.S. If you still have anything in your hands, then copy and send it to them. If you can fill out the form with the information you have, go ahead, but that form is probably already with them.

They don't care whether or not you get a job after you get the EAD, because the affidavit of support says your spouse will be supporting you regardless.

neo86 reacted to Anna Grant in How to request to expedite your EAD based on a job offer
I thought I would write this up as I was successful in expediting my EAD.
Called USCIS on 1-800-375-5283 on 4 September.
Said 'I would like to expedite my EAD because I have been offered a job and cannot take it up until I have the right to work in the US'
I was given a list of reasons as to why my expedited EAD may be considered. These reasons are:
Severe financial loss to company or individual Extreme emergent situation Humanitarian situation Nonprofit status of requesting organization in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States Department of Defense or National Interest Situation (Note: Request must come from official United States Government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to our Government) USCIS error Compelling interest of USCIS I selected 'severe financial loss'. I said that I had been unable to work due to waiting for the K1 process to finish - I was made redundant. I said that whether this could be consider severe or not was open to opinion.
The person at USCIS then read back to me what she had typed up and told me that someone would be in contact with 5 working days. She gave me a reference number for my request. She said there was no guarantee that my request would be granted.
On 9 September I received a letter from USCIS requesting that I fax them proof of my job offer, together with a reference number and also to fax their letter. I did that the same afternoon and also included the state exam and license I had taken in order to get the job offer. I also included a cover letter.
On 10 September I received an e-mail to tell me that my status had changed to 'card production' for my EAD. My AP was updated about 2 hours later.
I thought I would write this up as I've noticed a couple people saying that they've managed to expedite their EAD because of a job offer but did not explain how they did it.

You do not need to send in such things to be eligible for the EAD. You already are. However, you could use a job offer letter to file for an expedite of your EAD > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/453753-how-to-request-to-expedite-your-ead-based-on-a-job-offer/

Are you trying to get your I-94 online?
The US I-94 form is now online and electronic. You can find your number at the following site:
    https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/request.html

On the above site you can enter your information and print a copy of your electronic I-94 record. For visa petitions,
please attach this printed page (containing your electronic I-94 information) and include it with a copy of your US visa and associated
    entry stamp (in your passport).

No, your I-94 won't be extended once it expires.
When you file for AOS, you are under a period of stay authorized by the Attorney General.

I may have been told something incorrect when I inquired about this at the Secretary of State's office (which is the DMV in Michigan). THere are several countries that honor valid non-commercial foreign driver's licenses. Countries that qualify are found on the attached PDF.
    http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CCQQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.michigan.gov%2Fdocuments%2Freciprocity_chart_20508_7.pdf&ei=KSEWU8LnGaGbygGO-YHwDQ&usg=AFQjCNGfHNDsSuIOIOGxildc9Khu6hJZCQ&bvm=bv.62286460,d.aWc&cad=rja
There appears to be some strings attached and I plan on finding out what they are soon. I'll post more info when I do unless someone else knows what they are and posts ;-) Whew!!

Every state is different, go to the Michigan DMV website and look at the FAQs. You should find your answer there.

From what I've been told by the department that issues driver's licenses in Michigan (Secretary of State) no, you have to apply for a Michigan driver's license before being able to legally drive. This does vary from state to state however. (I live in Michigan and my fiance and I have been looking into this as well) Anyway, they have a booklet that you'll read and study, a test will be administered and if passed, you'll be issued your new Michigan driver's license!

He won't be a resident when he comes on a K1 or visits before. He could bring all his household possessions duty free as a K1, but if he follows the absolute law, he would have to own something a year to be considered a household possession. If it was his grandmother's bracelet fine. If he bought it last week brand new, no. If he wore it as part of his outfit then maybe would not be an obvious gift.
But the duty would probably be less than $20.

you just have to put on customs form what the value of the items you will be leaving in the US is, that is a relatively small gift so as far as im aware not even remotely an issue for them

There is a $100 limit on gifts a non-resident can bring https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/454/~/duty-free-exemption,-gifts. If the bracelet cost more ($400) then duty would be charged on $300.
