mindah got a reaction from pddp in How genuine are the cases and claims?
Of course there are people who are not in legit relationships. Hard for me to judge ; I am from Canada, I have never experienced war, natural disasters, extreme poverty, I have a good job, free healthcare, a pretty good quality of life (except for the horrid winters...).
It makes me more sad than angry; sad to see that some people see it as their only resort, to sell yourself short, to be with someone only for the "papers", to not experience true, unconditional love.
There are "scammers", of course but there are so many genuine people, truly in love. And sometimes, things just don't work out, whether you're from the same country or not.
I love my fiance to the moon and back, we have been dating 3 years and we are ready to finally be together - in the same country.

Because it's not the government's job to judge or to measure the people's feelings. It doesn't matter, whether a beneficiary is genuinely in love or is just seeking for a better life, in case she/he is seeking that better life with that particular partner, not with someone else or not without him/her. What matters is - if the beneficiary is going to marry the petitioner and to create a real family with him/her, regardless of what are her/his motives are.
Bona fide relationships only mean that the beneficiary is really intending to be a wife/husband, is going to share the household and create a real family. People do marry not necessarily for love, but for some benefits marriage gives to them, even when they are not immigrants.

I do also think a lot of people play the system, but it can be difficult weeding these people out without simultaneously denying immigration benefits to legit couples when the bar is set so high. There is only so much evidence of a bona fide relationship you can produce. I've seen people here who submit a healthy amount and are still asked for more. They send more than is humanly possible and are still denied.
While all this is going on, fraudsters still manage to sneak through and get their visa. The system isn't perfect and probably never will be. You see a lot of stories here to do with VAWA, but in truth, they are the minority of cases. The vast majority of visa applicants don't come to websites like this, so you wouldn't read about their successful stories.

Sorry to tell you that the God doesn't approve petition or issue visa.
Back to the reality world, to see if you meet the poverty guidelines to sponsor your potential fiancee & step daughter.

I would not do that as it will take weeks to get the visa and you don't know when.

Not really a good idea. It's highly suggested to book flights only when the visa is at hand. Some may say when the ceac status says "issued", but never ever book a flight so soon.

No. We booked our flights 2 days before departed or almost 3 weeks after the interview. Not because of visa thing but we had problem to get done the papers of my 2 cats from Indonesian government. Based on my experience, I had my passport with the visa 3 days after the interview. You need to lookup average waiting times for Canadians on consulate reviews to get an idea. Good luck for the upcoming interview!

Definitely wouldn't make plans to travel until the visa is in hand, I know it's hard to wait any longer but it also sucks to potentially waste money!

I booked our flight about a week after we expected to get the visa. The risk was $250 change fee from the airlines or having to pay more than that for a flight on a few days notice. Weigh your options and it might make sense to book early. I also did a round trip ticket and just cancelled the return leg once we got back into the USA. Was alot cheaper.

mindah reacted to KayDeeCee in DS160 or DS 260? I-134 or I-864?
DS-160 is for a K-1 visa. The DS-260 is not used for a K-1 applicant. That is used for a spousal visa. The I-134 is used for a K-1 visa. The I-864 will be needed later after you are married and applying for AOS.

mindah got a reaction from Sylea in How come november i-130 filers have been approved ?
"Do they give priority to other countries from North America, rather than any other?"
I tell you one thing, they sure as hell don't give priority to Canada. And with the timelines I have been seeing of many Canadian applicants I seriously think that they see a Canadian application and put it in a different pile. "we'll deal with those Canadians later..."
in any case...good luck!

Actually, you can file DCF from Italy while living there (look at the guides for DCF) and it is SUPER quick... Like 2-3 months to process...

why would anyone file both, either your married, or not. Right?

As far as being allowed to live with him in Italy... If he is given a work visa or Permesso Di siorggiourno it usually is extended to immediate family (wife) but he will need to advise the company so,they can process the paperwork so you have no delay. Being from Canada, it should not be an issue... Once you are over there, you should apply for the spouse visa CR1 as it takes about a year to process... As a permanent resident of Italy, you can interview and apply in Italy (Naples consulate)... Which is actually usually faster than Canada for interview scheduling. Enjoy and congratulations

Thanks for the info. From what I have been seeing, ANYWHERE in the world is faster than Canada for interview scheduling!
