  1. Well, first I'd suggest you figure out if you indeed switched them or not. Look at the printed review (which I'm hoping you did...). If you indeed made a mistake, call up NVC and see if they can do anything. If not, just mention it at the interview.

    YOU....are a saint, Saylin heart.gif

I will call NVC as soon as I get off work. If they say they cannot do anything, I will tell my mom to mention it at the interview. It wont have any impact on the processing, right ? cray5ol.gif I feel so dumb rightnow.

  2. haha right?

I just went to the CEAC website and there's a yellow triangle under the DS260 for my Mum, but I still cannot pay when I click on it. Nothing shows for my Dad yet. I think I may call today and see if they have reviewed the AOS yet. I got a letter yesterday in the mail from the NVC and my first thought was oh sheep, here we go with the checklist. It was actually just a confirmation of change of embassy tongue.png

what do you mean by "AOS logged into system as being received by NVC" ?

  3. Thanks for the reply. I wanted to know if there was an easy way out where I could go one place and get all copies made there which are acceptable by the NVC, but doesn't seem like it is going to be that easy. So as of now I can either send all originals to NVC with the probability that they MAY get lost and I will then have to go 3-4 offices to different parts of the city to apply for new ones OR I can do that now and send in certified copies. My question still remains that if I send in certified copies, do I have to carry originals to the interview?

First of all, I am so happy to see you on this thread. Finally you made it here :) Anyway, I believe that if you send all the certified copies to NVC, you wont have to necessarily take any civil docs with your to the interview unless instructed by NVC/consulate. Here is an attachment, someone shared this link its specifically for India.

  4. By tried, do you mean they applied, but got denied? If so, you'll have to answer 'yes' to that question.

Yes, they applied. They wanted to come for my graduation, but were denied.

Also, for vaccination, they will get their medical done. So do I answer yes for vaccination (i.e. yes, I have all the requires vaccination)

PS: I am filling 260 for my parents.

  5. ok, im a us citizen, my husband is a perminent resident. He has lived here for 2 1/2 years and we got 10 year visitor visas for both his parents. ok......we helped his 30 year old cousin and his wife apply for visitor visas and they were denied. I dont understand why.....in this case his wife is enrolled in college, he has 3 properties to maintain after his mothers death, and he owns a business (a pharmacy) he has a bachelors in architecture and a huge family at home (no kids).. He has so many reasons to go back as well as her. their paperwork was flawless and they have no criminal or medical background....I dont get it. they only wanted to visit for 2 weeks.

I guess if someone has any input or advice I would appreciate it.

    Thanks, Daria

I am an USC and my parents( age 72 & 65) were denied twice. They have steady income, pension, property, huge family backhome, EVERY possible reason to go back.

  6. ok so i just called NVC and yes the $88 i paid will settle for my dad's case also, "it's not necessarily $88 PER CASE, PER PARENT" she said.

The Document cover sheet for my dad to be submitted along with the I-864 form i can just photocopy and write my dad's name on it and replace the NVC case number accordingly.

I submitted the DS261 choice of agent, and she says once they process that, they will request for the IV fee.

Same thing happened to me. However, do not send the same barcoded sheet for both parents. Call NVC and tell them to email you your father's AOS barcoded sheet. They will send you one. Two barcodes, two envelopes, two AOS papers. They are two different people (both are principal applicants). Hope this helps.

  7. My wife's PCC states "her name, W/o my name, holder of passport ..."

She got it from the Mumbai passport office few days before we got her NOA2. She went in with the Mumbai US consulate instruction letter that is accessible to everyone. This was because we had heard that sometimes they ask for a statement requesting a PCC from the US consulate or state department. However, she got the PCC without ever having to show any proof of her immigration application status.

Thank you for providing the website. It is very informative :)

  8. Ok here we go again, another checklist...this time for the IV Package. I know I've seen someone post this exact thing, but doing a VJ search only yields results from 2010 & 2011. I can't find the one that was on the monthly threads here.

    ______10 - PASSPORT POLICE CERTIFICATE:____________________________
Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:
    • All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police
certificates from the local Passport Office.
    • Indian passport holders applying for visas outside India should obtain a statement from their
local embassy or consulate confirming they have no criminal record.
    • Non-Indian IV applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the District
Police Station serving their area of residence.
    • Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants applying
    outside India.
    [J8B 03/05/2014]
My husband's original (plus 1 copy) PCC was included in the IV Package we sent. It was obtained from the Passport Seva Kendra. It is not local police. It is dated Dec. 19, 2013. So it is not more than 6 months old.
Is this a false checklist? Should I call them? Why would they issue this if the PCC was included in the package?

I am hoping its just a false check list. I am really interested in knowing why was it generated b/c my parents did the same as well. I believe you should call NVC ASAP. I havent recieved civil docs from my parents yet, but I think my father said that they gave him a paper as well as stamped his passport, did you send a copy of both papers. Again, I havent seen what my parents have, so thsi is just a guess.

Just called NVC to clarify something about PCC required from India, She told me, "DO NOT send the Police certificate to the National Visa Center, your wife will bring that to Mumbai during her interview." I told her that the websites say PCC is required to be sent to NVC, she then tells me, "Sir, I am trying to help you, DO NOT send that to NVC, it will cause delays."

Thanks for giving good news I have been confused about this coz if we wait for police certificate it will take another 20 days so it saved our time. Thank you very much for good news

I got a different response. NVC rep told me that we have to submit PCC with IV packet. I believe we have to make sure before we move forward.

  10. Ye m sort of confused about police clearance what to do now because if I wait for IV payment done it will be another month for waiting to get pcc done . Can i print out the page of IV n AOS processing page n can get pcc done? Is it possible????

Its just today my parents told me that PCC office is asking for payment reciept for 260. I could not talk to them in detail, but I am preety sure thats what they said.

  11. ".

The NVC rejected these forms and she had to resubmit both of the forms with a family size of 5. (This delayed our visa by about 5 weeks).

If you are in any doubt about how to complete this section of the I-864 then I suggest you ring the NVC and ask them. I found them quite helpful.

As I say I can't comment on how you complete the form if there are joint sponsors, or on any other visa's than IR-5.

    Good luck.

Thank you for posting your response helpsmilie.gif

Did your daughter mention you on your husband's form (and visa versa)? Technically, both are separate visa petitions so it means that they don't have anything to do with each other. But then again they are immigrating together ......oh the pain cray5ol.gif

  12. Read Val's response above - she is done with the process and has immigrated. You do NOT count the other parent in your household size. Her daughter did this the first time and received a checklist for it. Each parent gets their own petition, so you only count the members of your own family and one parent on each form. In your case if it is you, husband, 2 sons and a parent, then you will list 4 on each AOS. You do not list the other parent.

    Thanks :)

But then the form tells to list ppl who are immigrating together, what do we do about that? cray5ol.gif

  13. I am filling out AOS form for my parents. Now, I am getting mixed answers about particular questions. Since you are almost done, can you PLEASE help me with this.cray5ol.gif

    1. Household size in both the forms should be 5 ( myself, my husband, my son, my two immigrant parents) but then both the petitions are "two separate visa petitions", correct? and both are principal immigrants. So, what does NVC want as house hold size?
    2. Does this mean that both the petitions have nothing to do with each other?
    3. Do I still say that spouse will accompany (the form says that do not list ppl on other visa petition)helpsmilie.gif cray5ol.gif

I am so so lost on thiscray5ol.gif

Received checklist for my dad's case. No surprise because I knew it was coming with the same errors like my mother's case. But at least, our cases are updating. smile.png
