I recently re-entered the US with expired 2-year GC and extension letter. I skipped the kiosks and headed straight for the immigration officer. Only 4 fingers on my right hand were scanned (no thumb) and I had to take my hat off for the photo. That was it. Easy peasy.
 
Even the airline staff at check in seemed to know what an extension letter is so I encountered no problems there either.

What about at check-in for the flight back to the US? Did the airline employees at the check-in counter raise questions about the expired GC and did they know that the extension letter extended GC validity by 1 year from the expiration date?

My ROC just got approved today, March 6, 2018!! NOA is September 15, 2016. I leave the US on March 15. Will I receive the green card in time? How long does it take before the GC is delivered? Will I have trouble reentering the US with a valid I-551 stamp but with an approved GC that I didn’t receive in time?

I've read about some people here on VJ who obtained their green cards through marriage to a US citizen, subsequently divorced the US citizen, and then tried to sponsor an alien. They ran into issues with USCIS. You will need to prove your marriage to the US citizen was bonafide as well as your new relationship.

In terms of "success story:" We flew from LHR to JFK with a 3 months expired 2y GC and Extension Letter. Virgin Atlantic staff were aware of Extension Letters and we had no problems at LHR. The automated kiosk at JFK failed to scan the GC and we were sent to the long "X" line. The agent processed US passports but sent my AR wife to the office for processing. He was very nice and informed us that she'd have to be processed there on each reentry until she received her 10y card. We were coming off a transatlantic flight with a baby and it was a sucky experience, but it is what it is.
 
I get the impression that JFK CBP officers aren't fans of the automated kiosk system and USCIS delays. They're essentially apologizing to us every time we fly in.
 
We are planning to travel again soon, reentering the US just a few weeks shy of the I-751 NOA 1y anniversary and almost 3 months prior to the Extension Letter expiry date. Hopefully airline staff will be aware that the extension is from the GC expiry date or we may run into some problems.
 
Out of curiosity, are there any known guidelines for CBP in terms of letting ARs with Extension Letters nearing their expiry dates? Do they let someone in with an extension about to expire?

Why was the K-1 or CR-1 visa approved in the first place? If USCIS and the US embassy were doing their jobs properly, no visa would have been issued.

Was your first world inconvenience of a flight delay directly due to official government policy? I don't think so. 
 
Moreover, a flight delay is not equivalent to someone being prevented from getting on a flight based on someone's nationality (despite having a valid visa or a green card).
 
There is a big difference why many protested the immigration bans versus almost none for your flight delay.

The person overstayed a visa and is currently doing AOS. He is in the U.S. and the 10-year ban does not apply since he's married to a U.S. Citizen.

Not irrelevant, did you not know that McCain and Graham specifically spoke out against the Trump "whatever you want to call it ban" just
today ? You said anyone speaking out against it is basically a democrat. Not so, more republicans coming forward.
Trump wanted a Muslim ban that is a fact. It was one of his major campaign promises. He delivered it for his voter base as a token
gift and in 90 days he may take it back. What has been accomplished by it ? Nothing but chaos and a false sense of accomplishment
with the voters. It pacifies them.
Miller and Bannon drafted and rushed this mad EO through. Priebus finally had to do damage control with reversing the ban
for GC holders after the fact. No one thought of it beforehand because they don't understand immigration. It's like a plumber
running a bakery.
Had they let the relevant agencies do a review it would not have affected GC holders. Trump, Miller and Bannon look like the 3 Stooges.
What an embarrassment.

Why have a ban at all then, what is the objective to achieve with a 90 day ban ? Keep the bad guys out for 90 days ? Then let them in ?
What is the point ?
It is a short thank-you note to his voter base so he can say he did what he promised and that is it.
It will not go past the magical 90 days because it is not legal to hold.

Laws are made based on moral understandings of what is right and wrong, aka "feelings". The world is not as black and white as you would like it to be.

This is the general immigration-related discussions area and this specifically is the Trump, speculation thread. I think ppl can find plenty of facts on VJ at the same time give people room to discuss their worries and concerns. I don't think anyone here is over-reacting. Everyone is entitled to having their own opinion on what is going on. Over-reacting is subjective.
 
We know that those are the numbers that the government have produced. We also know they don't match the stories of the people who went through it. Eventually we will know the true numbers. 
That's what I would also say were I worried to be thrown out.
 
Discussing what people have gone through and trying to get at the truth, not just what the government is putting out, is not trying to scare "someone", it is trying to provide real information and not just that which is sieved through government.
