What sucks the most is that the last updated date doesn’t even update. That at least gives some sort of hope, although false. my moms true last update date was November 24 2021. sucks -
congrats! yea tight time to cross but you got your visa! sucks that had to file WOM but at least you are now able to move on with the next chapter of your life

wow! are you able to schedule appts outside of your province? maybe in Toronto area? (not sure if you even want to do that, or if its even possible)

That’s pretty exciting! Did you contact the embassy? Just wondering if the date changes coincide with contacting the embassy or if they are genuine updates

Update: no questions asked. Just normal stuff about who they are visiting, anything to declare etc. nothing about visa or AP. Although I had instructed my sister to be honest and open but it never got to that. They also didn’t ask for any ties to Canada question. On the flip side Pearson as a airport is apparently a show right now, security line and customs line was hours long

My mom is traveling from Pearson tomorrow so I’ll let you know how it goes i told my sister to be honest about everything and shouldn’t be an issue

Nope nothing. I think the last time her actual case date updated was November 24. Ever since then the updates all correlated with my emails to embassy. she’s gonna come visit on wed for a month. Really hoping for a miracle. If not we might fork over money for a suit. Definitely don’t want to but doesn’t look like anything is happening 😞

if you havent gotten a response yet, you wont get it in time for the long weekend. when i asked for my moms passport back, they took a week to respond and it was pretty much telling me her passport was being returned and then i got tracking number the next day. took about two weeks in total to get it back

Sorry to hear. The wait is awful and the lack of transparency is the worst. You will have no idea when and where your case is.

A few people have crossed borders while in AP Also todays a federal holiday, so don’t expect any updates (not that anyone is holding their breath at this time)

DS 5535 is a literal black hole. Consulate won’t send you any email updates. If you ask for update they will send you a copy paste that your case is in AP and they can’t give you an timeline. it’s truly miserable

That’s normal. It’ll turn to issued tomorrow or Friday and you’ll get the tracking stuff. I know it’s hard to believe and feel relieved but you’re at the finish line!

feel like DS 5535 is the new form to pretty much keep families apart for as long as possible without being held accountable and to give an explanation

With DS 5535, we’ve seen some get approval around 40-60 day mark. And then it’s like a few around 80-90. And if you miss those marks, then only god knows when you will hear from them

my mom told me that now that since we've asked for her passport back, and that we have booked a ticket for her to visit us for a few weeks, they will clear her 5535 and ask her to do her medical again. knowing our luck this just might be the case! lol (which i would be ecstatic about) sept 2021 i had her come here to visit us for like 3 months cause it had been so long due to COVID. 2.5 weeks into her stay we got the email about her interview and we sent her back lol...

So sorry to hear this. I truly hope they process his visa asap. maybe he can request his passport back if it’s been a few weeks, at least then he can come visit you.

congressperson's are useless. mine just emailed again and said they got a response that my case is in AP and the process cannot be waived or expedited. i told her i agree that it cannot be waived but i disagree that it cannot be expedited. A lawsuit will force an answer and essentially help expedite the case. its sad that our elected officials cant do this.

they mailed out my moms passport! so todays update was likely due to them actually mailing it out.
