  1. wow they really took their time reviewing your documents (not shocking) but glad its all over for you! its been 4 weeks since my moms documents were delivered, really hoping for a miracle so she can join us here before christmas
  2. so sorry to hear embassy is playing with people's lives here, and they dont care. like you said if AP is required for something of a flag, then im all for it, but this system is broken. as Canadians we can come visit USA for 6 months while they do extreme vetting......so laughable.
  3. reposting my response from earlier ******* They aren’t a lot of help in general cause they can’t do much anyways. You get assigned a case worker and that case worker reaches out to embassy. but what does help is that embassy definitely reviews your case and gives the congressperson an actual response rather than copy paste stuff we get when we email embassy directly. for me I asked to actually speak with congressperson and I got a one on one meeting with him. He promised to write a letter on my moms behalf and send it to embassy. this took like 2-3 months to actually happen. But before they even sent the letter, my moms DS 5535 cleared. but once they sent the letter the embassy looked at the case and finally sent the email asking for documents, like passport medical again. From Clearing 5535 to sending me email about documents it took embassy 28 days. And it only happened cause congresspersons letter went to them. So in that case it did help. Now since they have the documents I’m emailing my congressperson to follow up with embassy since the AP is, almost, done and they need process the documents we sent. I believe in this stage congressperson contact is helping. in conclusion I think you should get your congressperson involved and push for a meeting with him or her. my moms 5535 cleared after a year. I'm in California
  4. Clipper ship supply Inc 1 514-937-9561 @PNWUnited was able to provide this info to me and the lady on the phone was able to confirm they picked up the documents. but be prepared that embassy will not care about this. they will continue to say they didnt get the documents
  5. so i called the third party drop site where our documents first go. they confirmed that embassy picked up the documents but cant tell which date. so embassy does have my moms documents, its like as @throwitaway mentioned, no one has actively touched the documents, hence the embassy response is that they dont have the documents, which is ridiculous. they cause so much stress!
  6. I believe someone here was in refused for a month or longer and didn’t know why and didn’t get any email. But when they emailed the embassy they were told police cert was missing. So might be worth a shot to email
  7. i hope this is the case and not that my documents are now in nowhere land. blah i wish they can just confirm that they have been received and are waiting review. at least that way i wont have this added stress of making sure the documents are ok.
  8. so my congressperson got a response back today that the embassy still havent received the requested information (passport, photos, etc). Canada post shows delivered to their third party sorting facility on November 10. i realize there is a bit of a delay in embassy actually getting the document from their sorting facility, but its now 3.5 weeks! anyone else who submitted document have any data on how long it took for embassy to get their documents from the sorting facility?

  10. So my congressperson got a response that embassy was waiting for documents and how it goes to third party location etc. this was a week after documents were sent. she will follow up again this week. Every part of this process is so slow. How long does it take to take the packet of documents and drive it to the embassy?!
  11. cant even imagine the anguish you are going through. staying away from your spouse for that long, pretty much putting your life on hold. These people are literally toying with people's lives here. i really hope movement in your case this coming month
  12. unfortunately no real insight, aside from pray for the best, but expect the worse. after 4ish month you can file a WOM suit that can, maybe, help them speed up the review of your case. Costs about $5500K USD
  13. i am pretty sure your lawyer has zero idea how long this will take. every case is unique and lawyers cant really change that timeline unless you file a WOM and even then the government can ask for extensions, motion to dismiss, etc. pretty sure asking for passport also has zero bearing on delays. we have people who have asked for passport back and got their cases processed before people who didnt ask their to be returned. this process is pretty "your mileage may vary". Some are done within 60 days or less, and some cant see an end to this madness
  14. 5535 can take anywhere from 60 days to god knows how long. some have been in it for 13+ months already. my mom was in it for 12 months and we are still waiting for visa as they asked for more information. you can email them and ask for passport back. the email was given a few pages back. they will send the passport back and once they are done with 5535, they will ask for your passport back
  15. My case date was updated today. But I think this is an inquiry update my congressperson sent on Friday. let’s see if this makes them review case and take next steps or if they send a generic response to congressperson. really hoping for a thanksgiving miracle here! Would be so nice to get an issued before Thursday
  16. got it the next day. my mom was told at the interview she will need to provide more info and wait for the email. however i have seen people here get approved at the interview and get the DS 5535 email the next day. maybe you are just in regular AP and nothing else is needed. maybe get your congressperson involved. and yes you can cross while on AP. my mom crossed and stayed with me for a few weeks this year while we continue to wait for her visa. the border agents asked for nothing but they could ask about your visa and we were prepared to answer about her AP situation
  17. did you both get an email for DS 5535 from embassy? they ask for more stuff including 15 years of travel history, social media etc. if you did in fact were given DS 5535 then you will need to fill that out and send it back to them. The wait times for those are long. There is an email that was provided in the previous page if you want to request your passport back. takes one week to get a response. however if you werent given DS 5535, then maybe you are in some other AP and that shouldnt take too long? Maybe just regular AP checks. worth following up again next week if you dont receive any updated or an email from them for DS 5535. And also you should hope you dont get DS 5535 cause we've seen that it can taken more than one year for embassy to process those.
  18. umm they dont care. my step dad got his visa. my mom was given DS 5535. my step dad had to immigrate to USA since his visa was expiring March 2022. My mom stayed back alone and is still there without a visa. so yes, as others have mentioned, you could be separated and DS 5535 processing times are all over the place right now.
  19. Oh wow that’s a really fast turnaround time, compared to what I’ve noticed overall once people send additional documents. they got my moms stuff November 10. Hopefully it’s not a long wait
