the IV instructions online don't mention anything about this, but did you guys write anything on the back of the passport photos?
Instead of sending 2, i sent 4 photographs. On the back of 2 i wrote name, date of birth and case number and nothing on the other two.
:)
I don't mind if NVC guys just want to trash any 2 of them.

This is exactly the situation with my wife. However, my advise to her (and you) would be to not make any such irreversible plans, until you have the passport back in your hand (with the visa stamp). You can never tell what the CO will decide to do. People go into AP sometimes for very long time. So do not quit, and do not purchase a non-refundable tkt. You can start packing the bags, though. :)Meanwhile your spouse can visit (I know I am planning to). Also, there is always Skype....
:)
ah!!!! i see, then we guys are in the same boat
.... Yeah, even USCIS website says the same that don't quit your jobs until you get visa in hand ( i have someone in my personal relation who waited for 11 months in AP, so i can't afford to take such a risk).
But then you know, how it will feel like
having a visa in hand and you are waiting for 2 months more just for a job that you are quitting nyway (we are already waiting for this day for more than a year now
), i don't know wot the situation at that time will be, its obvious you can't even work at that time
:) , will curse my employer then for the whole time
My spouse was already with me for 5 mnths (till march), but then went back to US (Spouse resigned from job and came to me and now got a job again there in US), now we can't face this situation again and again.....
Yeah, skype and facetime are like blessings to me from Microsoft and Apple
:), we are daily spending around 3-4 hours on this and then an hour or so on Amantel.... LOL...
But then sometimes i think the case is pretty straight forward, there is no reason for AP....

Wow! it is exactly a year from your NOA1 date. You deserve to get CC very soon. Give them about 2 weeks. I would say around the 28th April and then a June interview. My best wishes.
Thanks bkghosh... fingers crossed, don't want to have a checklist.
Just thinking if i shud inform my employer when i get interview date and resign also. As i need to serve 2 mnths notice when i resign, can't wait this much long time when i have already visa in hand.

Called NVC yesterday, and operator told me that both packet IV and AOS has been entered into the system and are being reviewed.
AOS was delivered on 6th and IV on 14th April to NVC. I asked if there is any checklist so i was told that as its still being reviewed they don't know it.
Any idea when will i get a CC????

This is what the website shows. DS-261 completed, AOS fees paid, IV fees paid, and DS260 completed.
Ah okay, thumnail reflects the same image that i can see for my case
Anyway i have called NVC guys yesterday and they confirmed that they received my IV packet also and now same ans (30 business days)
waiting for my case to get complete...........
-
The approval of DS-261 triggers the IV invoice. Since you already paid the IV fees that means your DS-261 was accepted. But call them to find out if the AOS (I-864) has been accepted. Same with the IV package. They will be able to tell you on the phone. Once both these packages are accepted, Case Complete will happen. Hope it happens very soon for you.
Meanwhile, why not submit all these details into the NVC Spreadsheet (via the form)? Thanks.
Thanks Man, does this status keeps on showing as 'Completed', even when its 'accepted' on the website (both for 261 and 260)??
-
REPOSTING:
Filled DS261 on 27th March (already 18 days) , still shows - "COMPLETED", what is the next stage for this? when will it be accepted?
Filled DS260 on 6th April (already 8 days) , still shows - "COMPLETED", what is the next stage for this? when will it be accepted?
AOS and IV already sent but not entered into the system till now.
-
Guys, i have filled DS261 on 27th March, and DS260 on 7th April, and they still show "COMPLETED" only, by what time i can assume them to show as 'ACCEPTED'. Both fee show as "PAID". AOS submitted, NVC received on 9th April, IV sent on 10th April.

Just now got PCC from Local Police Station.... can you please tell me the PCC validity for india...
did u get that from LOCAL POLICE STATION????
just want to make you aware that In India we get two types of PCC (one from Passport Office i.e. PSK and other from Police station), even i was confused which one to send in IV. But afterwards when i visited "reciprocity by country' link on USCIS website for India, it says (pasted below). Thus i got both PCC from PSK and LOCAL POlice Station, the one from PSK i have submitted with IV (they will issue 2 copies), and the other copy and PCC from police station i will carry along with me to interview.
As per my knowledge, PCC from police station is valid for 6 months but from PSK it is valid for 1 year.
Police RecordsIndian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:
- All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office.

1. They probably want the ones before your current, but I don't think you'll get a checklist for putting down your current again.
2. I plan to put down the name of the company when I worked for them. The only way they can really track this is if they can access my Canadian tax information, so I want to make them match up.
3. Again, I plan to put down the address/contact info that was current when I worked for them.
4. Put down their names if you know them, or click "don't know" - shouldn't matter.
5. Did you have a permanent mailing address? (your parents' house or whatever?) if so, put that. Otherwise, I'm planning to put down the addresses from which I filed my taxes for the times that I was living in company housing or temporary accommodations.
This is just my best guess, but I've been concerned about the same things and plan to be as honest as I can, within reason. And I don't intend to track some franchise restaurant from 1988 that's been out of business for 15 years. (and for which I have no idea what my supervisor's name was! I mean, really!)
Thanks a lott man.....

Question on filling DS260 NAME in native language.
I have never used native language to write my name even my birth certificate is written in English. Question is do we really need to write our name in native language. Can i just say N/A will i get a check list for doing that.
My birth certificate is in native language (i am submitting translation for that). When you start filling DS260, instructions says that use native alphabets when specifically asked. And here is this questions they specifically ask for this. So i have used my native font and filled this field.
I don't see any harm in doing so (also technology is available). Why to leave it blank.

Thanks so much for the reply guys. Have a couple of more questions about DS 260:
1. When i enter my current employment and go to next page, it asks for previous employment for 10 years (STARTING FROM MOST RECENT ONE), so should i enter my current again and then earlier ones?
2. Regarding my earlier employments, a couple of companies have been acquired by new company so my company no longer exists, so which company name should i give here?
3. One of the company has changed its location so that means address and phone numbers has changed, so which address i should refer to (as old address where i worked no longer valid)?
Adding to above questions
, have couple of more if you all genius guys could please help:

4. Obviously i know full names of my supervisors but i don't know their surnames and firstnames, should i just put in their names here? OR i should click 'I Don't know'
5. Also, regarding where i lived since the age of sixteen, since i have worked in different companies, so none of the place was permanent (i kept switching places where rent was less
), so what addess should i put in? [and i have worked abroad also for few mothns, so what addess should i put in here? , should i give my employer's address?]
PLS ANSWER.... THANKS

1: NO
2: NO
3: I put yes here as my wife going to get her medical and vaccination before interview anyways
4 It doesn't ask for mother's maiden name on form it just ask your mother's name , so my wife put her name after marriage
4. Mother's surname at BIRTH. The surname she was born with. So yes it would be her maiden name, Not the name she took after marriage.

Could you guys please help me in answering the below questions for DS260:
1. Is your spouse immigrating to the US with you? (she is already USC and sponsoring me)
2. Is your spouse immigrating to the US at a later date to join you?
3. Do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with US law? (i can't fill a NO here, i think but then what documentation they required and when? during interview???)
4. Mother's surname at birth? (will it be different from current one? as she has my father's surname now?)
-
Hi Guys,
My father-in-law is a joint sponser for me. So he has filled 864A, now as he has my mother-in-law also in household. Does my mother-in-law also needs to fill 864A? also does she need to submit her paystubs or job letter as well?
My father-in-law is already going to submit job letter and pay stubs.
Thanks

Folks, Could someone pls help here:
Wiki says that following docs required in packet IV:
-Original or Certified Copy of beneficiary's birth certificate, PLUS A PHOTOCOPY
-Original or Certified Copy of marriage certificate, PLUS A PHOTOCOPY
-Original police certificate(s)
Does certified copy means an attested copy (by Notary) of the original document?
Also, why do i need to send Original PCC, can't i send photocopy of the same ( i will produce original at the time of interview and i will mention it in cover letter).
adding to this, are there any specific timeframes for translation of regional documents into English also. I mean i got my birth certificate translated to English in April, 2013 (while applying for i130). Can i use the same document now also, or should i get a fresh translation again?

Hello all, i have paid AOS fee and received cover letter from NVC in email for AOS documents.
Could someone please help me if for IV documents, will i receive a different cover letter again from NVC?? or it is the same??
Also, we have a joint sponsor (father-in-law), he and his wife are already a sponsor of 3 people (thus making total household of 5). I will be 6th one. Could someone please update me what should be the income for 6 people in California. The first person he sponsored was in 2005, so should that person is still a part of household or not (because in this case total household size will be 4).

Filled DS261 on Friday morning and its Monday evening, AOS fee still not available.
I assume its all automatic process and not manual. Does Saturday, Sunday effect this??

Just now called NVC and got to know that they have entered the case in system on 26/03/2014. The operator has given me the case number.
Operator also told me that they have sent a package too.
Can anyone please update me what all will be included in the package? and also, i know AOS fee becomes available within 5 days after this, how will i get to know that its available, where should i check this?

Sent you a private message about this as well, but my husband basically stood there and convinced the officer that getting the new passport would take much longer than the visa process and that it had to be completed in a specific time. The officer told him to come back the next day with our original marriage certificate.
He did not need to re-schedule or pay the appointment fees again...just brought the same receipt.
One thing you could argue is that the expiration dates for your current passport have already been entered into the system for the visa and you cannot make any changes...getting a new passport would mean information would not match and cause problems.
Come on, if there is one thing I've learned while living in India for a year, its that you can talk your way out of anything. :-)
And we've run into plenty of government types in the process of trying to get my own Indian visa extension.
Stay calm and work through it.
Just ready your post and now i am concerned about the stuff that you have mentioned.
I got my passpost reissued now and obviously the passport number, issue and expiry dates are different . Do i need to call NVC or USCIS and ask them to update this.
The very first thing, while filing a i130 petition, was all this information(my passport details) required/given to USCIS?

Totally freaked out . Went to Passport seva Kendra to get PCC before checklist ,officer told me you can't have it right now as you have to re issue your passport to amend your wife''s name on it. I dint know this before nor my agent told me. I m in the middle of NVC process paid AOS bill waiting for IV to pay but now so pissed off . Have to apply for new passport whole procedure gonna 1 n half month. Can't believe my agent dint informed me whole things gonna delay case for a mnth
U need not to worry that much. I did face the same situation.
I visited PSK to get PCC at the time when even NOA2 was not approved. They asked me to get my passport reissued for amend my wife's name on the same. So i had to take another new appointment for reissue of passport. Luckily the officer was good enough that he didn't put my case for the police verification (as it was just amendment of wife's name) and i got my new passport in just 5 days (can you beat it
). May be u need not to wait for 1 n half months. Just ask the officer to clear your police verification. OR you can apply under TATKAL.
To add to it, while applying for reissue of passport, u need to carry marriage certificate and then ID proof of your wife. Idiotic PSK guys asked me my USC wife's Indian ID proof and when i told them that she is USC, how could she have a Indian ID then they asked me to to give a photocopy of joint bank account (which we again don't have). But i insist on this and finally they agreed to accept my documents.
I am still not issued a case # from NVC and waiting for it. And now i again need to apply for PCC for new passport.
Once you are done with the stuff, just let me know one thing,
1. What happened to your earlier appointment for PCC. Your paid fee is still applicable. But you filed that application for old passport. What about new passport, will you again pay new fee for this OR you will just make a appointment over the old application.
Just get this question cleared from PSK guys when you will visit them again for reissue of passport. Because i had called toll free number of passport seva many a times to get this thing clear from the operators. But they don't know anything about this and they always say that PSk guys decision will be the last.
2. Suppose you are exempted from a police verification for the new passport as i said earlier. Ask the PSK officer that you need PCC over new passport, so will it require a police verification then?? As otherwise, they will issue you a PCC on the same day in a couple of hours.
I need to visit PSK later this month to get my PCC over new passport. Am just keeping fingers crossed that they should issue me the same on the same day and should not put it for police verification (which they can as while issuing passport police verification was not done).

Earlier i answered this question as 'YES', as if you input a 'NO' there, you will have to explain it and giving ans as 'NO' was something that gives me feeling that it can be rejected.
But then i searched forums here on VJ only and people have mixed responses.
Many of those have filled 'Yes' (reason was you will have your medicals done once you will at interview) and many as 'No' (reason was as you are filling this information right now, you don't have any proofs of this, so you should not enter as NO).
Then i liked a couple of responses that were quite meaningful and i went ahead with those.
ANSWER IS:
I selected a 'NO' with the explanation that, AS OF TODAY, I DON'T HAVE ANY DOCUMENTATION TO ESTABLISH THAT I HAVE RECEIVED
