  1. Hi all,

So i am back again after 2.4 years... :)

    GC expiry date : 09/09/2016

    I 751 received by USCIS (CSC) : 06/13/2016

    i 797 NOA : 06/16/2016

    Questions:

    1. Just like everyone else (though some users has answered as well), what is one year extension means? till 06/16/2017 OR 09/09/2017??

    2. I have already scheduled infopass appointment (06/02/2017), what are the documents required for this appointment?

Any answers will be much appreciated :)

  2. Ok Thank you again. I will done all this by the date of 20 july.

You said, I can also call to the guys. You mean OFC guys?

Yes I prefer to Jalandhar city for Passport collection.

Is there any fees all of this?

How much fees will be for us for Medical?

There is my child with me 9yrs old.

Yes, i mean OFC guys (which will be USTravelDocs.com) to have OFC appointment. Just call them and give them your case number and interview date, they will take care of the rest.

    • Callers in India: Call +91 120 4844644 or +91 40 46258222
    • No there is no fee for anything. Its all free. Don't go to travel agents. I knw all travel agents in Punjab are a group of rogues. Its all very simple. DO all by urself.

I don't knwo for ur child (m sorry), but for you it will be around 3500-4000 INR

  3. Ok Thank you.

Will I fill up form today for take appointment for date 6th August for finger prints?

When should I do my Medical?

Yeah definitely, go ahead and create your profile today itself and book ur appointment for OFC on 6th August. OR you can call those guys also, they will create your profile and fix the appointment etc for you.

Also, remember while doing this, you have to fill center for collection of passport also (after interview).... Which will be Jalandhar for u (i guess you will prefer this only), so select the same too.

and take the print out of appointment.

Medical can be done in day in July, look for suitable dates for you. May be they won't give u medical reports the same day, so u have to again visit hospital to collect the reports. Call and ask them in how many days reports will b ready to collect. Try to finish this stuff by 20th July.

  4. My CC on the date of June 20, 2014. Will I have to take Appointment for medical Now? and How?

I am from Punjab state. I think my Medical will be done in Mohali city. Right?

    Thanks for reply.

U really need not to take appointment i guess, just call them and they will ask you to walk in any day.

Yes, Max Mohali is the only one hospital in Punjab that is authorized for medical tests, though you can walk in to Delhi Max clinic also. I am also from Punjab and i had my medical in Delhi.

As i can see you have ur interview on 7th August, which is a Thursday, so create your profile on UStraveldocs.com and get finger print appointment on 6th August. For Finger prints (OFC) you will have to come to Delhi, you can't have OFC anywhere else.

Remember, you can't attend interview unless you already had fingerprints...they will stamp ur DS260 confirmation which you have to carry to interview.

Why i am suggesting 6th August because in that case you need to go to Delhi just once. Create ur profile as soon as possible as slots are very less.

  5. Did you speak to the dos?

Yes, i did gave them a call but it was automatic case update when u enter case number and then same answer --- AP (nothing more)

I don't knw what options to choose to talk to a operator....

They do say such things on embassy and DOS sites that don't contact us till 60 days after interview if u r in AP, but how can i just sit idle and don't do anything (when i have already waited for 15 months for this ridiculous process).

I have gone through tons of docs and posts online in these 2 weeks..... and found out that i have around 95% chances that CO has put me into VISA CONDOR check

I have worked in Malaysia (i work for a IT company and it was transfer for project work) for about 1.5 years late back in 2008-09....... and this country falls in list of 26 countries (that are listed as T countries)...

Though i got PCC from Malaysia last December when i was about to submit packet IV, still i guess they want to do some background checks (as its normal for these countries)....

these VISA CONDOR checks generally complete in 30 days or in 2-4 weeks....

As already discussed, i have seen a similar case as mine and it was approved in 2 weeks after AP........... thus i am assuming May be i can get my visa issued in next week............. though i can't be sure as AP is kind of a nightmare..... but then nothing in my case is fraud or wrong, i have given all the correct info for all my entire stay in different countries (all from my employer side).......

  6. What questions did the CO ask you? That might give a clue

The will print the visa and that is why they took the passport I feel. Also it is unlikely that they will hold the passport for too long.

I have mentioned above 5 ques that were asked.....

I wish they should print it soon... i m getting restless (though its just 1 day that case is in AP)....

I am not sure if they doing background checks (and if yes, then how much time does it takes?)... if i call DOS will they be able to tell something?

  7. If your husband has an ATT account, you can create user name on the website and go to account and then take print outs of all previous bills. Good thing is that they do keep record of incoming calls.

Me too had a prepaid number, thus having no bill details, but i used all the phone bills of my wife (though CO didn't ask for anything but marraige pics only - i had honeymoon hotel, flight, bookings, pics - anniversdary celebrations hotel bookings pics - insurance from my employer of both - train tickets - phone records and much more)

  8. Can you provide info around probable cause of such queries? What was so different in your case?

There was nothing different in my case, i guess it depends on country to country, I have seen cases where people do work in different countries and get approved on the same day of interview.

The only reason that I can think of is that the beneficiary has traveled/lived outside of India or the beneficiary and/or petitioner works in a profession that's on the Technology Alert List.

Could it be the reason that i have worked in other countries? i have provided police clearance from those countries. There are many of us, i think, who have worked in other countries but then all the cases doesn't go to AP. May be the countries where i have worked were are 3rd world according to CO (though it is not so).

  9. Hi all,

I had my interview in India embassy on 12th June, it went very well but then they put me on AP (without any 221g), just a normal letter was given that your case is under AP. They kept my passport. CO asked me to wait for a minute and then a lady at a different counter ask me to write following information on a paper and said that CO wants this information.

    1. Your complete travel history for the last 10-15 years, in chronological order.
    2. The full names of any siblings *not* already provided in your initial application.
    3. Your residence address history for the last 10-15 years, in chronological order.
    4. All prior passport numbers .
    5. Current occupation.

Then i was handed over AP letter and $165 fee letter.

From 12th itself the case was having status as 'Ready', 14/15 were Sat and Sun. And today on 16th status changed to 'Administrative Processing' (Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. Please follow any instructions provided by the Consular Officer at the time of your interview. If further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved, it will be processed and mailed/available within two business days. Under the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act, Immigrant Visas for "Diversity Visas" cannot be issued after September 30th of the year in which you were selected to apply for a Diversity Visa. For example, entrants into the Diversity Visa Program in Fall of 2011 were selected for Diversity Visa 2012 Program, and selectees MUST apply and receive their visa prior to September 30, 2012 otherwise they lose eligibility to receive a Diversity Immigrant Visa, regardless of additional administrative processing. In addition, please note that some immigrant visas may not be able to be issued if the annual numerical limit for that category has been reached.)

So should i be happy or not? I have seen that this status means visa is being printed and it will change to Issued in a day or two.

Also, i read that if actual AP is going on CEAC status will be shown as 'READY', is it true?

Also, i went though other online forums and found out that getting same information is sometime common and they need to do some security check which will be cleared soon. Worth mentioning here that i have worked in 3 different countries.

I was keeping track of other cases that were interviewed on the same day in same embassy and were under AP, those case statuses are still being shown as 'READY', its me only whose status has changed to 'AP'. All those who were approved on same day, their status was 'AP' on same day evening (similar to mine :) ) and all those were 'ISSUED' the very next day.

    Any thoughts???

  11. What does Technology Alert List means? I also work in IT and have been in few other countries including the US as a result of my profession. I will like to know more bcos AP is one thing I wouldnt want to go through.

U can google about the same. Although technologies that are publically available (or is educational) doesn't need an authorization. Am happy that i am working on such a technology only.

But then may be CO won't be having any idea about this technology that he put me on AP. I think they will ask for my CV later to confirm.

But then there are thousand of techies who travel to US on HIB visas every year from India... and there are no issues with that.

I should be approved in no time by Washington Office.

I found this on web while going thru a PDF:

A “Visas Mantis” security advisory opinion (SAO) is a background check by the U.S. State
Department to investigate whether a visa applicant intends to violate U.S. laws prohibiting export
of sensitive goods, technology, or information.1
During the visa application interview, a consular officer decides whether or not an SAO is
needed, considering factors such as the applicant’s stated purpose of travel, current job and
employer, previous jobs and employers, education, and training. SAOs are most common for
individuals with backgrounds in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
  12. Keeping your passport seems to be a sign that it will be a short one.

    yeah, hope so.

I have come across some profiles on VJ where it was mentioned that their passports were given back along with AP letter and may be in those cases a detailed investigation was required.

@ALL on VJ: PLEASE CHECK TAL (TECHNOLOGY ALERT LIST), if your profession does falls in this category, there is a high risk of getting an AP....

  13. I guess i have figured out the reason for AP to me.

May be its a Visa Mantis check ------ I work as a Computer Programmer (developer) from last 7 years... and got transferred from the same employer to different countries.... I am not sure but i guess this profession comes under TAL (Technology Alert List).... and that is why they need AP to consult advisor in the US.

I have this feeling caz CO asked me specifically about my job during interview and then afterwards, my current occupation details and countries that i visited (along with addresses) were taken on a paper without any demand of any additional document.

But again then, anyone have any idea about VISA MANTIS CHECK????

  14. DOS claims that most APs are concluded within a few weeks. In my case, first AP lasted one month and the second 13 months! I've come across a few rare ones that are pushing 2+ years.

In both my AP cases they didn't keep my passport. At the end of APs the embassy called me on my cell phone and asked me to drop my passport at the embassy compound (no follow-up interview), and visa was issued a few days later. That was back in 2007 and 2009.

I'll be scoring an infamous hat-trick if I get an AP this time around as well.

I wish you should not get one this time.....

    Did they take your passport?

    Yes, they retained my passport.....

  15. The darn AP!!! I hope it would be a quick turnaround for you. I had it on two successive non-IV applications myself, and I didn't do anything wrong then either. On one occasion, they asked for all the names and birthdates of my siblings (I do have a common name, and it helped that my parents were very productive LOL). A month after they asked for this information they issued my visa. Pray it won't take longer than that, but do brace yourself for a longer wait and plan your immediate future accordingly.

Thanks MoBar65, but they didn't ask me to visit embassy again... its the same process that i need to collect my visa from a centre.. then how will they ask this information again? Any idea that how much time it can take? Longer wait means???? :(

Interview went very well, i answered all the ques that they asked and i was not asked to submit any of the papers (i was told that all documentation is complete).

    Had my interview today............

It went well but then not a gud news though......... :(

CO asked my few questions and asked me to show the wedding album.... then he asked me to wait for sometime and go back to my seat in waiting area......

Then one gal called my name on the other window and asked me to provide some details on the paper (sibling name, previous passport number, countries that i visited , previous addresses and my occupation). I wrote down the details and gave my DS260 for previous addresses. Then she handed over my AP letter :(.

When i asked what do you guys need, she replied CO has asked for this information and thats all that they need. Then she asked me to check status on ceac website.

I don't know what was wrong.... i worked in 2 different countries and submitted original police report from that countries as well. Other 2 countries was just for tourism purpose.

Now when i am checking the status on CEAC website and it shows updated date for today but status is still "READY".... :(

@ dwheels76 : Do you have any idea of this or if u may have came across someone who has faced similar issue?
