  1. Who has the arrival date to NVC similar to mine? Our I-130 arrival date to the NVC building was on Jan 13... Still waiting on a case number. This waiting is sickening.

How long had it been taking for people to get case numbers? Also how long after case complete has the LONDON embassy been scheduling interviews?

same here. our case arrived same day Jan. 13... and still waiting for case number.

  2. Thanks for the detailed response! I actually grew up in the Phils. so I'm fluent in the language and know my way around. I've known my wife-to-be since childhood, got separated for a few years, then when we got back together, we had to deal with this darn annulment case of hers that's been going for the past 6 years now.. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel so I'm starting to plan what's the best way to bring her here.

My wife-to-be and her family live in Cebu City so I'm guessing that's where we'll marry. She's not very well connected but we know some people and lawyers that may be able to help I think.

I agree with you on the money deal, for some reason they think money grows on trees in the US. I'm not going to give in to any cultural or parental demands though, I'm on a tight budget and I'm covering it all, so they get to play by my rules. We already agreed on a simple wedding at a local church and a reception at some local buffet, family and close-friends only. I'm not trying to satisfy anyone but the wife, it'll be her going-away party before I steal her smile.png

6 months to get it registered in NSO? Whoa! That may take even longer if we're getting married in Cebu as they have to pass the info to Manila still.. Yours took 1 week, and that's with good connections.. For some reason I don't think I'll be able to do all that within 3-4 weeks of me being there: apply for license, 10 day wait, wedding, register the cert. at the local registrar and NSO.

Yes, regular waiting time .is 6 months... so that the NSO will enter your marriage record on their data based coz of the volume of marriage each day. but i know a quickest way..for them to manually input the marriage record on their system...

  3. Yes, if you have an attorney on the case, then they're automatically selected as agent, thus no need for the DS-261. Because of this, then the IV fee is invoiced at the same time as the AOS fee.

Yes, if you're in the EP program then both packages (AOS and IV) have to be scanned and sent in by email. Please read the wiki linked in my signature below. It explains EP and online forms for the NVC process for Canadians.

    Thanks saylin

  4. omg!..i can relate to this topic..i have PMS..every month. but, thanks to my loving and understanding husband. he doesn't leave me. ok..during my PMS time..i really become so jealous, easily get irritated. but i try to control myself always. so, my husband already know that i'm about to have my period since i am acting differently. my husband is so supportive. he makes me laugh, he comforts me. telling me he loves me so much everyday.

  5. My casefile shipped to NVC on Dec 26, 2013. Since January 2, 2014, I have been calling NVC everyday but still no case number assigned yet.

Furthermore, I was told that I have to wait till 8 weeks to generate the numbers, and another thing that puzzles me is that I was told that they haven't receive my casefile yet...secret7vf.gifprotest6wz.gif When I called service center about my casefile I got an answer " contact directly the department of state or NVC."

hi we have the same date of PD, Approval and Date of shipped to NVC...we still don't have case number yet.:(

  6. Tuck, I'll share my thoughts and personal experiences, but unfortunately it all comes down to the two of you. At the end of the day the TWO of you will make it work or you won;t. Nobody can do it for you.

Our first three months together were hell, the next three months were slightly less hellish. In the next thee months my wife asked how she can file for divorce. Twice my wife has taken herself to the airport. Marriage made in heaven right? smile.png

There is so much at play here that you have no idea about.

I do not subscribe to the idea these girls plan these things out. I think they have every intention of making a life with us. But, the reality of middle class life in the US is very different then they imagine it to be.

Those of us who like to travel and experience new cultures don;t realize how traumatic this move is for family based cultures. We live alone and like. Asians not so much. They love the family, social aspect of their life. Suddenly it's just the two of you. Face it your not that charming after a long day of work.

Most likely she is bored, lonely, and homesick. mostly homesick.

You also need to consider what is going on in the background with her family. Are they pressuring her for money? After all, now she has a rich American husband she should be building a new house for mom, buying motorbikes for her siblings, etc. If she is torn between her responsibility to her family and to you, who does she choose?

I am completely convinced my wife would have left in the first three months had it not been for a couple Thai girls here in town who knew exactly how to handle her. Finding that support system is crucial to the adjustment. You can tell her truths over and over, but they don;t ring true until she can hear it from her sisters. My wife thought I was lying about having to make a mortgage and car payment each month. When the Thai girls told her it was true, then she believed me. She couldn't understand how I could afford to stay in Thailand for months at a time, go out party, eat, tour, etc. but in the US I had to live on a budget. What really made it real for her was finding out the other girls work two or three jobs so they can have a house and car and "stuff".

My wife is very independent. She had her own business. Car, motorbike, etc. she could go and do as she pleases. Suddenly she is completely dependent on me for everything. money, food, transportation. I'm sure you don;t treat her like a slave, but she could easily feel like one.

When my wife asked to go back home for the umbteenth time. I said ok, but we have put so much time into this process please wait until the AP comes through otherwise it's a one way trip. I said the day you get the AP, if you still want to go home I will buy a ticket. The AP arrived, she put it on her wallet and she is still here. smile.png

Tuck, this process is much more difficult for her then it is for you. I'm sure there is more going on in the background then you are aware of. You have to be the better person here. Turn a blind ear to what she says and try to hang in there.

If she is intent on self pitty there isn;t a lot you can do. But Phils girls are by nature fun and light hearted. You just need to find that part of her again.

    A few ideas:

    Get a tablet for her

Set up a facebook account for her

Set up a skype account for her

Get her on the phone with her family

Get her access to native tv programing. Movies, tv shows, etc. If she spends all day looking at soaps, thats ok.

If she won;t go out to meet local Phils natives, ask a few to come to your house. They will know just how to handle her.

Give her an out. Do this and this for me, if you still want to go I will buy the ticket. Give her some control over her life.

*** Self serving Soapbox moment ***

For those of you who do not have a spouse from a poor country. Please refrain from comment like "she planned this" "this doesn't sound right" "she has an agenda" etc. If you come from a wealthy western country, you have a skill and a good job, you have no idea of the dynamics at play here. You need to spend time in these cultures to understand them. Our western morals and attitudes just don't fit in all situations. So please, be supportive and respectful. Give her the benefit of the doubt and let Tuck decide if she is genuine or not.

I'm so lucky to have a loving and understanding husband..

hi ate, i just want to clarify about your NBI clearance. you have submitted to them your NBI using your current husband's surname? and now they put your case on AP..for the reason that they need your NBI clearance under to your previous husband's surname?

  8. Hi saylin, we are using lawyer/paralegal to process our case petition. i read on the instruction that once we are using lawyer/paralegal. they are the one will get those AOS bill.. and no need for me (beneficiary) to fill up choice of agent. coz the lawyer will be the assigned agent automatically..is this correct? all the documents needed for NVC stage are all in our lawyer/paralegal. are they the one will send those packet 4?

  9. I also have the same issue with my wife's NBI it will expire 20th Feb 2014, just wondering if we can send an attach letter in the IV packet explaining to the NVC

that the I-130 packet has sat at the USCIS for nearly 9 months waiting for NOA2 approval and that she will produce an updated NBI clearance at the time of her interview in Manila. Still haven't received case# are IIN# from NVC, My NOA2 was approved 6 DEC at the NSC, just called them yesterday, so there's know telling how much longer this process will drag on. Just trying to safe the expense of mailing documents and the chance they could get lost in the mail system. If anyone else has been down this road before, could you please advise what we should do in this situation.

I plan to get new one. since we don't have case number yet. but is there a NVC number that we can dial for inquiry regarding ( Police Records)? I read on the u.s embassy manila website that "NBI CLEARANCE (Green Form): Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Record Clearance (for travel abroad purposes) from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Clearances should be in the applicant’s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name, married name, and any aliases or nicknames ever used, including different spellings of all names ever used. An official letter of explanation from the NBI is required for any notation of “No criminal record”, or "No pending case”. For immigration purposes, an NBI clearance is considered valid only for one year from the date it is issued. " I wonder if NVC will consider that statement from U.S Embassy manila website.

  10. Hi..guys i just have a question about NBI Clearance. do you guys think NVC will still accept NBI clearance that will expire on April 04,2014? because, our paralegal asked me to acquire a NBI clearance. after we submitted the I-130 petition to the USCIS. I mailed to my husband my NBI.. together with my Birth Certificate & our marriage certificate from NSO.i got my NBI last April 2013. i'm thinking to get new one if NVC will not consider the NBI i have.

    thanks and happy new year...
