I love this story. Just saw it on the local news.

Someone can correct my possibly faulty memory, but the actor who played Lurch -- Ted Cassidy -- died at an extremely young age (46 years?) while undergoing open-heart surgery. Or perhaps I'm mixing him up with Rod Serling or Doug McClure.
Your memory is not faulty at all. Ted Cassidy passed just as you described.

I recently discovered that the classic Addams Family theme song was written by the same person responsible for that other musical masterpiece, the Green Acres theme song - Vic Mizzy.

I just pray that if I ever have a fire in my apartment, it won't be one of those physically weak, completely unqualified, politically correct woman firefighters that respond.

How about don't eat yellow snow?

Solution? Don't use the same knife on the next sandwich. Problem solved.
I'm guessing the amount of money required to purchase 25, or 50, or 100 knifes (which can be cleaned) wouldn't be exorbitant. But hey, my suggestion probably wouldn't fly with the group in question.
The issue is more complicated. I believe halal food rules are similar to kosher food rules. Although I am no expert on this, with kosher foods, they do have to be physically separate from the non-kosher foods on several levels. Cannot use any of the utensils, cooking equipment, etc on both. Sometimes kitchens have to be essentially "decontaminated" in order to be observant, and there is some ritual for that. Some places are "certified" kosher, where I think they get a rabbi's blessing. Some places and customers are more strict than others in observing these rules.

Typical Harvard buffoon, holier-than-thou cheapskate.

There are many restaurants in minority communities in NYC that boldly advertise that they do not serve pork products. Signs like: "No pork on your fork." Usually they are Chinese takeouts catering to Muslims.
Being a pork fried rice aficionado, I avoid these establishments like the plague.

I hate flying, but horrific stories like this prove you are not even safe from air travel on the ground.

See, my wife hit the border and my life has changed. Maybe next year I'll have more time to post more scurrilous comments directed at ya, but for now,
Please accept my humble apologies for being so absent.
<EOM>
See below.
I'm sorry. I really hate this happened to you. People go through so much to get spouses and fiances here. I hate to see it fall apart. It really, really hurts me to see this. If you ever need anyone to scream at for no reason, I am here for you.
Darnell, if Janelle's interpretation of what you (somewhat cryptically) posted is accurate, I too am also truly sorry.

I must be the only person in the world not on FB.

These cards should be emblazoned on both sides in enormous letters:

1. Does those arrests invalidate the fact he was choked to death?
2. He was clearly in distress. No excuse. He wasn't faking it, a blind person could figure that out.
Answers:
1) No, but that was not my point. Just letting people know the police were not dealing with a choir boy. This relevant fact (of his 30 prior arrests) was rarely mentioned in coverage of this incident.
2) Not making excuses if he was truly in distress. But signs of distress CAN be faked, and it is possible an officer could risk his safety if he could not recognize it.
-
I don't know if it has been covered earlier in this thread, as I have been too lazy to read through it all - and this case has been all over the news here - but I'd like to point out a couple of things:
1) Garner had 30 prior arrests.
2) Although emergency care should always be rendered when necessary, shouldn't the cops be on guard for possible faking of breathing difficulties in this type of situation? This may have complicated things, since he was resisting them and was huge.

The OP's video is an extremely disturbing example of the lunatics running the insane asylum. What I don't get is why those lowlifes posted this video. Do they think it makes them look good? Do they think it makes cops look bad? If so, they really are delusional.

While she often talks about
, she rarely brings up her connection with the Haitian-American community. There is a quote from the article. If you click the link it will show you tweets from Hatians and what they think about her.
I don't care what Haitians (or any hyphenated-Americans) think about her. I care about what Americans think of her.

She wasn't elected to represent the Haitian community. She was elected to represent her constituency in Utah.
Bullseye.
I am so tired of hearing which types of politicians are supposed to represent which groups. That attitude perpetuates divisiveness, and pits one group against another - something hucksters are drawn to like flies to sh*t.

He has become a dictator since his reelection. The power went to his head.
Agreed. He can't get any of his "signature" measures passed the constitutional way. Had to resort to bribery, arm twisting,
"deeming a motion passed", bald-faced lying, and on and on to pass Obamacare, and now we have this bypass of Congress by this Nobel prize winning "constitutional scholar." Sickening.

Like Yuna said above, I'm past the point of anger and indignation - I'm heartsick.
Not only was this decision a slap in the face to all of us that have gone through the paperwork, costs, not to mention the humilation of interviews and in our case being accused of "not being a real couple" and having to get proof from friends and family, but it's a double slap when I see people celebrating this news in life and worst of all Facebook...
Our own friends and family that are so caught up in the politics of it all and don't even realize what goes on behind the scenes of this process and the time it takes. How this swipe of a pen will now clog up the offices that are already overloaded and have cost good people years of their lives waiting to be with THEIR loved ones. Not to mention I heard that there may be a huge cost reduction for the illelegals? Could this be true as well???
Sad day.
Not only will they get a discount, they'll probably get an Obamaphone to boot.

I gots Obamacare and it's been lovely. I just like to beotch about Obama.
I start my new career tomorrow. I am afraid working is going to make my health insurance unaffordable
Hope it's a guvment job. The only "growth" industry out there.
-
Why is that? (Sorry to ask, but I am filling in for one of Obama's true-love flunkies who is MIA and lives outside the US, but has a great opinion of the president)
He is wrong on everything. Which other of his mistakes/executive actions/opinions do you think are worse? Are more harmful? The only thing that comes close is Obamacare. If you select that as number one, I wouldn't blame you.

I disagree with every one of this idiot's policies. But this one has to take the cake...
