usually only a couple of days, however, i have seen lately on another site, mexico has gotten a little slower and is taking a couple of weeks, i think they say 3-10 business days, if not then to go back up there or call. hopefully it will come soon, that is taking a long time. does the status page ( https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx ) have any updates on it?

when was the 601 approved?? when mine was approved in march and the instruction letter took about two weeks to come then he had to redo medical and send in passport and about a week and half later his passport came back ready. so the whole process from approval to issuance of visa for us was about 3 1/2 weeks. and congratulations on the approval!

hi, my husband interviewed in juarez last year and they never asked for it. some countries require it and some dont, but as far as i know unless something has changed, mexico does not require a police report.

What you should do:
1. fill in your timeline so people here can help you on when to apply for Removal of Conditions, etc.
2. quit listening to your spouse on what you can and cannot do/obtain. why would you trust someone that went behind your back to divorce you?? If you are a named party in a case, you have every right to get a copy of what has been filed against you.
3. go to your county courthouse clerks office and ask for a copy of any cases, pleadings in which you are involved. there may be a fee for copies, but yes if there is an actual case it is there and you are allowed to get copies.

When you are in a better relationship than your first it can feel liberating. Now that you are aware of the kind of relationship that you want to be in, have that one and enjoy it. Give yourself a break
Trust your partner but learn to put your foot down without being afraid and know that eventhough some of the happiest couples argue, there never has to be abuse. Agree to disagree on things and yes it is totally normal what you are feeling right now. Remember that if you and your new husband maybe argue about something similar that you did with your ex (for example housework) keep in mind your new guy is not the monster that your old guy was, so dont let your past torment your future. To me the most important is for you and your future husband is to set an example for your children that what you went through before is not acceptable and is not the "norm". When your children see you as a happy couple that is always able to talk things out without verbal or physical abuse, it gives them the security they need and makes you just shine. I wish you and your family a lifetime of happiness.

Hi, first of all congratulations!! i do not know the next step for the provisional, my guess would be to contact NVC and let them know of the approval. in case you need more information on the next steps, go over to immigrate2us.net they have tons of forums on provisional waivers and what to do etc.

just the same as he did the last time he did his medical along with the instruction letter also.

My husband's waiver was approved on September 08, 2014 and I received the notice by mail on September 12, 2014.
The notice says the approval will be sent to Ciudad Juarez where he had the original interview and to wait for further instructions.
Does anyone know what the process is from here? How long it normally takes to get instructions?
His medical has expired so my guess is he will need to redo them. Is there a 2nd interview for this?
If anyone who already went thru this process after waiver approval can give me their feedback is much appreciated.
He's been in Mexico since we started the entire immigration process.
Thank you.
he needs to wait for the instruction letter, he can track it on the us visa mexico page, where he chose the dhl. once it comes it tells him if he needs to renew the medical and or interview. the medical is good for 6 months and the interview for one year. then it gives him return package instructions for medical and passport. the whole process for him to come back here takes about a month. the instruction letter took about two and half weeks for my husband to receive it.
-
then he would file the i601a provisional waiver, but i could be wrong, he may have a ban depending on the two attempted crosses.
-
is he in the us now or not? if not, he will be advised if he can/needs one at his interview.

I came on this site strictly for advise and help. Not judgement. I did not fall in love and marry a "status" as I'm sure you did not either or you wouldn't be on this site. I would appreciate if judgements are not passed here as we all go through expensive, time consuming procedures. As for Laurel Scott, I just read her material on the Psych Eval and i do agree. We do have other hardships that are considered extreme. I think I may just skip the evaluation. I just don't want anything to hurt our chances.
I agree with canadian wife in that unless you have an already diagnosed mental illness I would skip the evaluation too. As for the others that post nonconstructive posts just ignore them as no one can ever please everyone. There is always something to complain about, good luck.

1250.00 seems high, you could try to compare with other specialists to see if they can do any better. also, you could try an organization called catholic social services, not sure if they are in your area if not they may be able to refer you somewhere. they are reasonable and go on a sliding scale and are very familiar with a lot of aspects of immigration evals and letters.

Hello All,
Newbie here! I am the petitioner for my Peruvian born husband for the I-601. We were approved for the I-130 last month! My question is should I do the psych evaluation my lawyer sugessted although I have no history of mental distresses? Will the adjuster see that I only went once and discredit my letter, that is if anything comes out that I do suffer from depression or something. I've seen mixed reviews on the psych evaluation.
Hi, i never did any mental health evaluations when i submitted my waiver, nor did i use an attorney. my hardships/arguments were sufficient enough. your lawyer may just want you to go to an evaluation to see if there is any other hardships you could add to your waiver. however, just because you go to the evaluation does not mean that they will diagnose you with any mental illness or prove any additional hardship. your attorney may just be looking for avenues to strenghten your waiver package.

cant imagine why it would be a problem.
-
that is horrible because the process would have went differently, may i ask why he ended up needing one? anyways the above time estimates are correct. my waiver took 6.5 months for approval and another month for processing visa (from Mexico) but Guatemala is a little slower so after the approval of the i601, he will then get instructions on whether to redo medical and interview or just medical, etc. then i think there it takes a couple of months to get the visa assuming the i601 is approved.
-
If he was here in the US at the time of the i130 and approval and NVC stage, how come he didnt do the i601a provisional waiver?
-
Is there a mexican consulate in your area? they could assist you to get them and your husbands dad could try to get them also in oaxaca, I know in morelos it didnt take very long to get them.

great news!! congratulations!!

just to be sure, if i were you, not sure if it is required but i would get something in writing from your wife giving you permission to take the child since she will not be going with you. just in case.

Hi, I agree with what Boiler says. i think the only options could be to either go to a more affordable hotel for the remainder of the stay in CDJ or since they said you could call the embassy you could go back home to san miguel and call after 3-10 days. if your dhl location is close to your domicile you would not have anything else to do in CDJ since you have completed the medical and interview and they have your documents. hopefully once they verify that they are valid everything will go quickly from there. my husband stayed in IBIS and when he was there it was really reasonable, good luck.

my husband's status was the same after the 601 approval and after he sent the passport and medical for a couple of days still. its normal dont worry, it takes a few days to update.
-
Hi, my husbands greencard arrived about 10 weeks later after he came to US.
-
my husband had his interview in mexico about a year ago and it was not required nor did he get one and he was never asked about one at the interview. once you get your appt letter from NVC, look and see if it is required or not on the list of documents it says to bring, his said not required. i think i did hear that they may now be required though, if i were you i would see what the appt letter says and go from there.
-
yes, that is the letter to take to your medical.
