  1. it still doesnt make sense, as long as you followed the rules in the jurisdiction of where you married you should be fine, did you disclose your divorce when you went to married in Indiana? people marry all over the united states, i could see an issue if you remarried too soon in wisconsin but you went to another state where it was allowed to remarry immediatley. Wisconsin law doesnt say you cannot leave the state to remarry just that you cannot remarry in the state of wisconsin for 6 months.

  2. have you called the mexican consulate? or the registro civil where he was born? or will california accept his birth cetificate how it is? i dont see why it should take a long time its just a hassle with all of the paperwork. i am the us citizen and my parents were born here so i was able to get my certified birth certificate same day because it was just my information was wrong on my daughters bc. but i know the mexican consulate here in atlanta can get the official ones from mexico acceptable here and their document turnaround is pretty quick.

  3. HI, ok i am not in california, i live in georgia, however, i had to go through the same thing. my daughters birth certificate had my information wrong, and i never realized it. i did not need a court order, i had to get a certified copy of my birth certificate and a certified copy of hers and on the back of hers here it has a section for changes and it had to be notarized by her parents (me and her dad) then i took my certified copy of birth certificate and hers and filled out amendment form and they corrected it without a court order because it did not fall under any court order category amendments, i think the process is relatively similar there too. hope this helps.

  4. Hi,

I don't know if this is the right place to post my question, but see if anyone can answer my questions.

I went through the CR-1 process and I have been in US for 7 weeks. However, I haven't received my green card yet.

How long does it take to receive the green card? What should I do?

Will I receive an authorization to work, or just the green card allows me to work?

    Thank you very much!

hey, just wanted to let you know that ours just came yesterday, so it took about 2 months to come. i hope you have yours by now too, thanks.

  5. Hi, it is actually pretty safe there. my husband had to go twice in September 2013 and May 2014. he stayed at the ibis hotel both times which is walking distance to everything. he said there is tons of security there and everyone is really helpful. there were tons of americans there too and no issues at all. there are bad parts of all places, he used to live in Morelos, and certain parts are bad there too however, as for CDJ, stay in the local vicinity as where everything there is and, dont hang out in the middle of the night, and its not bad at all. good luck.

  6. did you not qualify for cancellation of removal? you have a lot of missing information here but it sounds more complex than just an approved i-130 that was filed who knows when, and a denied i485 which i hope the same atty that you have was not the one that filed that for you after you had overstayed your visa, and some criminal charges that may or may not be minor, and for a judge to tell you that you only have to file an i-212 (without having to leave the US??) which is permission to reapply after removal/deportation is strange.

i am not sure how that can be filed without being removed first. however if you are only just looking for how to do an i212 alone, without an attorney, there are guides on immigrate2us.net. and the i-212 is not a simple form, you need evidence to send in with it and the wait is 4months to over a year, good luck.

my husband overstayed and was caught, he took voluntary departure, he went home, and i filed for him. he was then denied at his interview for previous overstay but able to file i601. i212 was not needed because he went home on his own, after the i601 was approved he got his visa and is now legal. from what it sounds like, you are not eligible to adjust here, you should try to get another legal opinion on your case though given your hearing is less than a week away. good luck

  7. My husband and i started the "journey" about 3 years ago (a more complicated case) and only get to see each other one week every year. I never really learned to cope, nor did i want to try to get used to it. My husband comes home next week finally. we have not seen eachother for a year now. It is never easy in my opinion, i just get through it and think ok one day less, and you will get there too, a lot sooner than three years, dont worry. A lot of people not in this situation dont realize how mentally and emotionally difficult it is, but as you know it is all worth it in the end. my husband is my best friend, he is everything, and no matter what i do or where i go i miss him. i could never find anything to take my mind off of him, so i just put on a smile for him, for my kids and family, went to work, took care of my kids, and did what i had to do everyday and cried myself to sleep everynight i think and now finally get to see him. good luck.

  8. Hi there

    I am a US citizen

married Mexican man who entered illegally.

Our petition has been approved, and we already paid for the AOS fee on may 27(so this might mean that the fee has not been processed yet) We also chose our agent and address that same day. What happens next?

I think I will have to pay the $230 next right? Is that for his visa? I am also starting to wonder what i might need for the waiver.

    Thank you.

you need to let nvc know you need to file i601a waiver before his interview since he is in the US. go over to immigrate2us for procedures, forums, how to's on the waivers.
