What kind of free stuff are we talking? When I was in Knoxville a couple of years back, I couldn't help but notice how depending on which side of the rail way tracks you lived, you might or might not be able to count on a police presence.
How about funding schools so that they can have air conditioning in class rooms? Air conditioning is good enough for kids in private schools, why not in public schools as well? The idea that you can force twenty or thirty students into a classroom on a hot summers day is absolutely crazy.

Agreed. The whole "battered voter" thing is an interesting phenomenon... people give such low marks to Congress as a whole, but high marks to their individual Senator or Rep.

With regards to the poor and government benefits, I would be interested to see what would happen if government programs were stopped, however, I would be terrified to force people to live through the potential real-world implications of such an experiment. I don't want to drag this country back to the 20's.

You make some valid points but the Federal govt has no business in our bedrooms our telling us who we can and can not marry . If Christians want moral change then do what the bible say and pray with fervor. Reach out to the world with kindness and humility. Spread grace with your actions..
Christians scream for prayer in public school, but many of those have not prayed at home with their kids ever. They want to change deviant behavior but all the do is condemn and harass those same people.

Every time I see the word "Pubs" I just think of bars, taverns, public houses.

I watch Fox when there's nothing good on Comedy Central. Or Lifetime.

I actually like the reaction to the reaction better. Like if I agree with someone here with whom I usually disagree, and then that person does the internet equivalent of puffing their chest out. Very amusing.

I must say, I do love the reaction people have when someone agrees with someone they usually disagree with. Like they think that if you agree with one statement, all other statements made by that person must automatically be correct too, or that they were right all along.

Honestly, it would surprise the hell out of me if most of those involved thought this through past the "shut it down!" phase.
Impeaching him would be incredibly stupid, IMO. The accusation that the GOP is more interested in opposing Obama than getting things done has gained a lot of traction, and if they impeach him over something the majority of Americans think is squarely on House Republicans' shoulders, I think they'll be in for a nasty surprise come midterms.

I am what most people would consider "anti-gun", but I don't believe there's any reason to get overly paranoid about things. Millions of people safely enjoyed movies and that doesn't change because one insane person in Colorado decided to shoot up a theater. You are exactly as safe now as you were before.
Actually, you might be more safe. Statistically, violent crime is on the decline, and has been for a quite a while now. The reporting is just more frequent and sensational than it was before.

This system is beyond repair. Unfortunately, America will not support a working system until the current one takes the economy down with it. It is what it is. Nobody's been trying to fix the system - the only thing that happened is an attempt to make the crappy system accessible for more people. It's about time that we don't stand by idly while tens of thousands of Americans die preventable deaths every year for they cannot afford the care they need to live. I know you're scared to be dragged out of that cave and pick your knuckles off the floor but this is the 21st century, you know?

Actually no. For the US health care system it is true that we pay more into it than we get out of it. It's a high cost low return system. Well, it's high return for medical-pharmaceutical complex investors and executives but not for the customers of the system. On the old continent, everyone pays into the system and everyone gets out of it what their health situation requires. It works very well. Much better than the sorry excuse for a healthcare system that a private enterprise fetish has burdened the American people and economy with.
