No-one is going to tell you you were a Permanent Resident before getting the Green Card, because is not the case.
People here are truly trying to help you.
There are a lot of things that are the same for Green Card holders and US Citizens. Maybe you can tell us why you think you need to apply for citizenship, because it might be something that does not require it (but obviously we don't know what it is).
Again, people here, trying to help you, nothing else.

The instructions clearly state that a plain photocopy is fine. Anyone suggesting otherwise is misinformed. There is no secret "gotcha," no thread of RFE, nothing.
The original can be inspected at interview, if needed.
Here is USCIS policy on this:

Franciscus got a reaction from Hypnos in VWP to AOS Spouse sponsor Green Card
It does not need to be direct relative. What is important is that this joint sponsor has enough income for a total of X people, where X is (you+the friend+all the members of the friend's household). And also remember that your wife is the main sponsor regardless of her not making any income.
The friend would tick the part that says "I am the only joint sponsor".

Franciscus got a reaction from Hypnos in Applying for adjustment of status while visiting hubby in the States.
Just to clarify, there are two completely different scenarios that are being discussed here:
    a) OP, who is now in the states, goes out of the US and then comes back and then attempts AOS
    b) OP does AOS right now, does not leave until getting EAD or maybe Green Card
Most of the people talking about visa fraud and stuff like that are talking about a), and the other people are talking about b), and the OP is talking about both (started saying a), now talks about b).
It is impossible to have a coherent discussion without the people that give advice specifying if they are talking about a) or b). As Harpa clearly stated, a) is something you do NOT want to do because you can have big problems. And b) sounds about right.

Franciscus reacted to Teddy B in married under B1B2
Did you ever think maybe she entered without intent and then they decided to get married and they consulted a lawyer that told them to wait 60 days? She satisfied the CBP officer at the time of her entry. Who are you to say what went on there? And even if there was intent, that's still not enough for denial of AOS.
When I proposed to my wife 2 months after she was here, we consulted an immigration attorney before getting married and the first words out of her mouth was that we should wait a minimum of 90 days before getting married, so it doesn't appear that we had pre-planned it. So stating that fact means absolutely nothing.
Based on what the op wrote, there is absolutely no evidence of fraud, just your speculation based on one sentence. Your impulse to jump to conclusions and point fingers is what leads to negative outcomes. Who are you to judge what is to be considered quality people based on a small paragraph written on the internet? I'd like to see the skeletons in your closet.

You should take a gander in the VJ guides for spouse inside the US and also at the AOS from work, tourist, student visa forum.
AOS is misunderstood and posting in the wrong forum usually starts a storm of confusion.
You will prepare a I-485 package and send it off with the copy of your NOA1 from the I-130. The package includes all forms and everything, many forms. You will need to do a medical exam beforehand. You can do it now even. You will send the results of the exam in with the I-485 (the medical exam results will be in a sealed envelope the doctor gives you, do not open it). You file everything complete now.

Franciscus got a reaction from Harpa Timsah in Biometrics + AP
If you want your application for AOS to continue, you have absolutely no way of leaving the US without having you EAD or your Green Card in your hand. What Harpa said is, don't confuse the combo card with a reentry permit just because form 131 is used for both; a reentry permit is NOT something that will help you with this, it's a different thing.
On a separate note, people have received the EAD earlier than 90 days, I got it in about 75 for example, others even earlier. So if it works for you financially, you can think of getting a ticket, mostly if you get a flexible one. But don't get your hopes too high.

Franciscus got a reaction from milimelo in I need your help guys ....Finally approved BUT !!!!
You insisted that someone filing concurrently should not check box A in the 485, that they could do so only if they filed separately, once they got an approved 130.
You claimed that a perfectly valid AOS from B2 could be facing charges of immigration fraud.
You suggested birth certificates might not be necessary, that you dont need to send more than one G325 in the package, that you can't fill the 131 if you dont put a specific place/date.
Again, no problem with you having doubts at this stage, I had those and a million more. The problem is you are posting replies of things you are not sure about, and that can be confusing for newbies (although I'm sure you have the best intentions).
Also, the F1 visa interview can't be more different than the AOS one. Non-immigrant v. immigrant intent. You'll see when you get there!

It's weird for me to read this "I'm better than you" post after reading all your other posts in different threads, most of which contain A LOT of wrong information. You are definitely in no position to advice about AOS at this stage, you are on an information gathering stage. For me, I don't care, but you are misleading people that are just beginning this process. If you don't know, don't post. For instance, the lawyer can be in the interview room.

Intent can not be used as a reason to deny, even if they suspect it. Look at the little linky thing in my signature. I agree, often the advice on this forum is appalling, mostly the stuff coming from people who applied for a K-1 or CR-1 visa and have no experience in AOS from a tourist et al visa.

Franciscus got a reaction from Harpa Timsah in Marriage certificate copy requirements for AOS - New York
You are obviously free to certify and/or notarize as many documents as you want, but it's not true that you can get an RFE for this. A simple black and white photocopy of the marriage certificate they give you is enough for the package, as clearly stated in the instructions. It is not unsafe to follow the instructions.

    Hi,
I see you have joined today, welcome to the forum. My advice: use several hours more to look at all the times this issue has come up in this forum. Pay special attention to posts by "senior" members talking about intent (specifically, how it can't even be used as the sole reason to deny an AOS application). I understand how this might be irrelevant in your case since you state clearly there was no intention, but since you asked about it, I bring it up. I guess a fair summary is that if there was no lying involved when she came to the US the last time (no judgement at all here obviously, just stating a fact!), then there is no reason to not do AOS (but, again, it's much better if you read a lot about this than having some random person like me telling it to you in one line). You'll see a lot of people that had to go through a harder route, and that might bias their advice (probably with no harm intended).
Regarding the B2 overstay, I think you'll have a harder time finding people commenting on what should be done in that regard, since that could be a violation of the TOS of the forum (though I'm not sure). What is a fact is that overstay is forgiven for spouses of USC (again, you might wanna learn more about this spending more time on the forum).

Some people on this thread are actually saying that it is illegal to AOS from a B2 visa even with no prior intent. I think it is important that those comments are eliminated if possible, they mean nothing to people that know what the deal is, but they can make a lot of damage to newcomers.
