  1. A Maltese. If she makes it to October she will be 16 (2x2x2x2) years old. (2+2+2+1) pounds..(how do you like that!) I swear sometimes she thinks she is a cat. Sure she can get mad, but she tends to get over it pretty quickly. If not, flowers or diamonds seems to fix things. I
  2. Holding our little white princess (the dog)? That's my wife. I gave her a hard time about popping into the photo as she had nothing to do with getting those lobsters. She didn't even go out in the boat that time. She stayed in knitting a sweater!
  3. Finally recovering from last weekend. We were in the Keys with my daughter and son in law and two of their friends for lobstering. Florida spiny lobsters. Picture from the first half day out on the water. They did get more the next few days. As usual I am the only one not in the photo! WOW, the water temp was way up there making it extra difficult to find the " bugs ". 93+ degrees. Think I mentioned before that my daughter is having twins in December so she didn't do any diving. My daughter was a little unhappy with her husband. He has been buying items for the coming babies. Cribs, car seats, strollers, etc. My daughter pays the bills and noticed a charge for noise cancelling headphones. She asked him why...he said he didn't want the babies waking him up in the middle of the night!
  4. Have you been down here to Key West? A bar on every street corner, and several more in between.
  5. Did the cute girl at the Chinese buffet try to poison you? Guess she wasn't happy that you have been avoiding her...
  6. When my patients found out that my daughter was moving back they wanted to know if she would join me at my location. I said heck no, I didn't want a bunch of screaming kids in my office. I will admit there were times shortly after I started the practice (with my ex-wife) where my two were in the furthest back room when no day care was available. That didn't happen often and didn't last long. Would rather have a pack of dogs in the office.
  7. Probably some in hospital oral surgery. I imagine the cost of any required equipment would be prohibitive for an average dental practice.
  8. Many years ago the state (or maybe the county) inspector came to my office to do a routine inspection regarding waste. How it was handled, disposed of, documentation, etc. Back then we all used the old fashioned X-rays that were in a cardboard wrapper and were developed on site. Inside the package next to the film was a piece of lead to limit the radiation past the film. I was asked how we disposed of it as there was no set rule at that time. Being the smart a** I am I told him I threw it into the Gulf of Mexico. It is the truth. At the time I was melting it down and making fishing weights. WOW, the look on his face. He wrote a long paragraph in his report, but I never heard anything about it. I thought for sure there was going to be a problem.
  9. Dental? Ok, you have my attention. I'm interested.
  10. My daughter is a pediatric dentist and will be having twin girls in December. A while back someone asked her if she had been looking for daycare. She thought it was too early to look. To her surprise it has been a real challenge to line up daycare for February or March next year for two. She briefly considered a nanny until she found out it would cost her about $80k a year. She was on a few wait lists until a few weeks ago. I suppose at a pediatric dental office having your kids running around would be no big deal. They just blend in.
  11. 36 falls off of me. 34 is a little too loose. 33 is just right and a little harder to find, BUT I'm starting to get this belly...
  12. We got as far west as Elliot Lake....uranium! Had the Gieger counters working.
  13. For evening entertainment all of us geology majors would go stock up on beer and sit outside and watch them dump the molten slag. This was a LONG time ago and there wasn't much to do for excitement then. Also wasn't much vegetation around either.
  14. No problem. I'm waking up shortly after midnight... especially after midnight Pacific time.
  15. Went to the nickel mine in Sudbury ON many years ago (when I was a geology student) and didn't immediately understand why the employee parking lot had electric outlets at every parking space.
  16. I remember up north back before global warming when people would use a light bulb on an extension cord under the hood of the car on extra cold winter nights to keep the engine from being too cold to start in the morning.
  17. It's 4:15 am and I'm just reading this. I'm and early morning person, not a night owl. Already got nearly 6 full hours of sleep and I'm ready to go. Best part of the day right now before the sun, and everyone else, comes up. I'm still trying to figure out how I can work remotely.
  18. Pee-wee Herman actor and creator Paul Reubens dies from cancer at 70 https://apnews.com/article/pee-wee-herman-paul-reubens-dead-616484f62a62c4ac3e0cc46b02376dd8
  19. Had to renew mine this year before we travel overseas in October. Sent everything in mid April and got it back mid June. I figure that's not really too bad. Just checked and they received my passport April 24th (of course I mailed it out a week or two earlier) and the new one was issued June 6th. Received it back mid June.
  20. Has to be better than tuna glop or corn dogs.
  21. Bummer. Time to look for another place to eat. Hooters?
