  1. Great pics Gwen!!! Love the simplicity and elegance of them...beautiful.

Hope England's treating you well and you're not going too mad seeing pics of the WAGS (soccer wives and girlfriends) everywhere you go...eat some food people!! Anyways, best of luck with the future

  2. I've been away for ages, but searched out this thread to find out how everyone is doing. Congrats to all who are now holding their bundles of joy in their arms, and good luck to all of us who have yet to go through it all...myself included!!

We had a scan yesterday and oh my God, how amazing. From our little bub's profile we can already see that "he" (not finding out the gender, but I have a feeling) is the image of Rob...same exact nose, lips and chin...truly remarkable! He yawned a few times and at one stage even turned his back on us and waved as if to say "Ok, show's over, Bye Bye" :D He also stuck his tongue out!! Cheeky divil  It was unbelievable how clear the whole scan was. We saw every little detail; fingers, toes, spine...just amazing!

What's also amazing is all the doctors in the US and the ultrasound I had there put our EDD at 13th Nov and all the Docs here in Ireland and the ultrasound have the very same date, so no mistaken the due date!

I know I sound very much like a 1st time pregnant woman, but the whole process is truly amazing (sorry I'm using that word a lot!).

Take care everyone and mind the hubbies, babies and bumps!!

  3. We plan on settling here permanently, but also know that sometimes life gets in the way of set plans. I'll be officially handing back my Green Card before the year is out, so if we were ever to move back to the US we'd plan for direct consular filing through Dublin and go the CR/IR route...not sure if those are the correct letters, but y'know what I mean ;) All future kids would be Irish and American citizens, so they'd be ok.

But to be honest, we're dead set on settling here and raising our bump and all future kids with a funny Cork accent!

  4. Congrats Denis and Doria

Well, I'm not an Irish in the US since we're now living in Cork...see my post HERE.

I've been going a bit overboard on chocolate, taytos and garlic chips and cheese from the local chip shop...yummy!! It's starting to level out now and today I only had a pack of Maltesers, Dairy Milk Bubbly and a Walnut Whip ;) I make myself and the bump feel better by eating double loads of veggies.

Anyways, hope everyone is doing well and your cases are moving along. Any word on an interview Colleen?

    Chat to ye soon

  5. Hi all

As some of you might remember, myself and Rob moved back to Ireland at the end of May. Well, we got here...just about! Cancelled flights, 4 overweight check in bags and 4 heavy carry on bags later...we finally landed in Shannon and were soon digging into a good old Irish fry-up complete with my mother's delicious brown bread...yumma!!

To be honest the worst part of the whole move wasn't the packing, flying or even unpacking...it was getting our car insurance and utilites sorted here. Y'know the idea of Ireland being lovely and laid back, well not so appealing when you have to wait 2 weeks for a phone line, 3 weeks for cable and 1 whole month for broadband. And trying to get my last Irish car insurance company to fax on a copy of my no-claims bonus to the new insurance company. Lovely!! But we're here and it feels like we never left to be honest. It's great to be home and Rob is loving it too...especially the good pints of Guinness ;)

The weather has been surprisingly beautiful since we arrived. We're living in Cork now, which is such a great place, we love it here. We live about 8 miles from the city and the town we live in is lovely. I've found a brilliant Doctor for the pregnancy and we have an ultrasound next Thursday, which we're really looking forward to.

We're having a July 4th party...except it's on July 8th, as the 4th isn't a holiday here...we're calling it July 4th +4 :D Luckily we brought some very yummy BBQ sauce from the U.S. over, as the BBQ sauce here isn't great. So, rain or shine we'll have a great party with lots of food and beer...and water for myself and the growing bump!

Hope ye're all well and looking forward to a brilliant July 4th holiday.

  7. Ah, I remember the "homely" discussion! My dad used to tell me I was "homely" when I was young, just to tease me, and Ewen didn't understand why I had been so insulted.

 I don't understand why it's considered an insult either...can someone explain what the word means here in the U.S?

    homely=ugly here :thumbs:

Ahhh I see!!! Oh jeez...that could definately cause crossed wires

  9. just wanted to update on this topic.

turns out my step dad misunderstood the woman that called him. she said i needed a Td shot (tetanos), not a Tb (tubersulosis). i called the civil surgeon and told them i got this shot done in Montreal before moving. the woman apologised and said she totally missed that on the form i provided. she said my I-693A would be ready monday. and will only cost 10$! i am glad this turned out to be just a simple misunderstanding.

so i get to finally send in my AOS next week!!! yay!!!

Ah, glad it's all cleared up. Good Luck with the AOS

  10. Mand...I am an only child and I'm very close with my family. I do not want to live my daily life without their prescence. Maybe we'll retire there or something, lol. Or we'll become filthy rich and buy a summer home there :P

I hear ya, family and friends are the main reasons we are moving back to Ireland too...this day next week we'll be over the ocean!!

  11. I left this thread yesterday and everything had been sorted out amicably.

What happened in my opinion was that there was a miscommunication and things went haywire from there. These kinds of mis-understandings are common with online threads, as some people speak with their eyes, facial expressions, hands etc and so their point is often picked up wrong or lost.
