  1. We used Rob's Irish tax forms and wages (he's the USC, but worked in Ireland), but that was for the I-134, which isn't as stringent as the I-864 I think. We never included any U.S. tax forms for our K-1 visa and none were ever asked for.

We also used his U.S. tax returns for the I-864 which showed predominantly his foreign income and this was also never questioned during our entire AOS process. So, perhaps they saw financial stability throughout his working life, even if the years previous were not in America?

Good Luck on your journey and move

  2. If you've had your overseas medical within a year of filing AOS, you DO NOT need another full medical. The Doctor who is willing to transfer your information to a Vaccination Supplemental form for $60 is the Doctor to go to...NOT the one who is looking for $400 and a full medical exam!

Here is the USCIS link. It basically states that:

Ks: If you were admitted to the United States as a fiance(e) (K-1), child of a fiance(e) (K-2), Spouse of a U.S. citizen (K-3), or child of K-3 (K-4), and received a medical examination prior to admission, then you do not require another medical examination as long as your application for adjustment of status (Form I-485) is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. You will, however, be required to submit a vaccination supplement with our adjustment of status application. The vaccination supplement must be completed by a designated civil surgeon.

If you have your AOS interview within one year of your K-1 medical (that is, your K-1 medical is only good for a year, then it expires!), you do not need to do another full medical (unless, of course, you get an RFE for a full medical, in which case you'd just have to suck it up and get the full medical done).

I believe you said before that your medical was done last May, and that your interview is this month (May). If your medical was done on May 1, 2005 and your interview is scheduled for May 2, 2006, it is my understanding that you will need another full medical.

    Yip

  3. I think chemistry or whatever you would like to call it, is what attracts you to a person in the first place and true love, (not the over-used phrase) is what comes from this and it grows stronger as time goes on.

  4. I've often thought about that too, as we were fortunate to live together in Ireland.

However I also know that I was attracted to Rob the minute I laid eyes on him and here comes the soppy bit...I remember saying to myself on our 3rd date that he was the man I was going to marry. And that's coming from someone who was known as being notoriously anti-soppy and hard as nails. But when you know, you know...and that's all I know ;)

  5. I didn't do DCF, so I'm not sure if the rules are the same, but I always thought that the beneficiary's wages could not be counted in any way towards the Affidavit of Support, so he wouldn't be filling out anything regarding his income. Maybe it's different for DCF though? I dunno.

If your assets are sufficient, then I wouldn't worry about income levels. And just you fill out the I-864 with your assets as financial security/proof.

I agree though, that you more you read about it, the more jumbled it all becomes ;)

  6. The VJ Guides above are really helpful and you should definately read up on those.

Here's a link to the Adjusting of Status Guides, the paperwork you need to file after you marry. In the Guides section there is also information regarding applying for your EAD (I-765, work permit) which most people file with the AOS (I-485).

After you have been here about 2 weeks, you should go to your local social security office and request a SSN. There is also info about this in the Guides. Bring your passport with visa. The white slip the officer stapled to your passport is referred to as your I-94 and shows proof of legal entry into the U.S. DO NOT LOSE THIS as it's needed for AOS. It'svery important!

The brown envelope is always taken from you and forwarded to your local immigration office. You'll never see it's contents again.

I hope this helps, and would 100% suggest reading the Guides above...it will answer pretty much all of your questions

Forgot to add...you must get married within 90 days of your arrival to the U.S. :)

  7. I did Turbotax too..TOOOO FUNNY>..I read the title of this thread and went WHAAAAAA???? YOU'RE LATE! MAND!   Glad you got 'em all done and over with..back in January! M.

I know!!! I saw the title and thought...jeez, you're WAY LATE!!!!...and then I saw my name and went huh?

  8. The in-between waiting time is a pain, but there will be an end to it all. I'm not sure about the Orlando office, but I know that's where the I-485 will be moved onto and processed.

For EAD timelines, you'll have to look at the Missouri Service Center for dates. It says they're processing applications with dates of February 13th. Check HERE?.

Your AOS basic timeline is right, but take out the EAD as this is not processed at your local office.

You can always apply for AP once Aidan begins working and money is easier to come by.

Don't worry, everything will fall into place (F)

  9. Unfortunately there is no definate timeline to give...it's kinda like sking how long is a piece of string. If you do call the Information Line, they can only tell you what shows up on your online USCIS portfolio and won't be much help at all.

The best thing to do is just be patient and perhaps start gathering information for the interview. At least then when you get the interview letter, you'll be ahead of yourself

  10. I would imagine that they are well aware how it is virtually impossible to add another name to a utility bill without cutting off the existing service and going through the whole process again...and I know we were not going to do this just to prove that we were a real couple!

Joint bank statements, lease, tax returns...you have plenty of evidence  File away!
