How did it go for you today?
-
I assume you already paid for your medical etc.
Yip, picked up the envelope today!

Ah not so bad afterall
Eventually, you just answer to anything when it's not important in the least.Ha Ha!! Very true

This is what worries me about our girls names, which funnily I posted about a few minutes ago

Trompe Le Monde you got it
I love the name Saoirse!

Are there any Irish on here with very normal Irish names (in Ireland), but not normal at all outside of Ireland? How do people manage with your name and do you get tired of correcting people if it's often mis-pronounced?
Our girls have very normal Irish names, but they are pronounced completely different to how they are written. We love their names and hope they will too, but a little part of me worries that they'll spend the rest of their life correcting pronunciations.
Their names are Sinéad and Róisín - how would the non-Irish people here pronounce those? I'll tell you the right way in a bit

Hi
We paid approx $350 when we filed the I-130 in Dublin. I'm going to be sending off my Notice of Readiness next week and was just wondering what other fees will I have to pay on the day of the interview? I read that there's a $70 processing fee for the I-864 is that correct? Any others that I need to know about?
Thanks in advance
Just replying to myself. I searched and found that it's another $400 at the interview and the $70 for the I-864 is not required.

I didn't get a case number either, but I did email them and they sent me on one. Since they've changed to an email only contact situation, they won't answer any questions unless you have a case number. I just put "Approved I-130 but no case number" as the subject title.

We did what you've done. Moved over on a K1 visa, got my greencard and then returned back to Ireland.
We are now considering a move back and have been approved to do DCF here in Ireland. They'll probably just think we're mad!! I did however formally hand back my green card to the US Embassy here in Ireland about a year and a half after we returned.

A completely hypothetical question but, if the US citizen had a job offer letter showing pay above the poverty line would you still need a co-sponsor?

Firstly, I would give him a shoe up the backside for being such an idiot and putting you through all this worry!!
If I'm being perfectly honest, I think I would re-schedule the appointment, but then again - what's to stop him doing it again? So maybe there should be reprecussions. Go to the medical and let him face up to what he's done. if it shows up, he'll have to apply for a waiver and a whole lot of forgiveness from you.
P.S. How much is the medical now? It was €317 a few weeks ago when I rang Cork, where are you going?
-
Thanks again, I'll give them a buzz tomorrow

Thanks YuAndDan that's great to know. Should I call them or just send in the Packet 3 when we're ready - hopefully in 3 months?
-
Hiya
Just wondering how long the I-130 is valid for after it is approved? We're hoping to push out our move date by a few months and want to hold off on sending back the DS-230 and Notice of Readiness.
Thanks in advance

It's valid for 6 months here

hxxrmonkey, I was just going to reply telling you about the "observation" of a different name than what is on your birth cert. I recently changed mine to my married name but had them make a note of my maiden name. I'll be very surprised if they don't make him apply for a new passport - crazy I know!
He can do a walk in to Cork if he explains his situation and he can have his passport that day. In saying that, I got mine back within the week so he shouldn't have to wait too long - hopefully though he won't have to get a new passport.
-
Thanks again everyone!!
-
hxxrmonkey, thanks for the advice. You are right, it is expensive to live here and although housing prices are dropping, it it still expensive in comparison to what you get in the U.S.
Ah the good old emersion in the hot pressAnd my fiance always talks about how we don't have to turn on the hot water to take a shower or shave or do the dishes and the heat runs as much as we want for a fraction of the cost. -
Wow, thanks for all the info!!
Lauren and Dave, he's the U.S. citizen so his Degree is American and he has worked in this industry since he graduated, so no break in his career ever.
hxxrmonkey, yeah Tralee is probably tough job wise - but to be honest, where isn't these days!
DI&JR, I'll get him to look into that.
Thanks everyone!

Sorry, scrap that figure ... it's a few months old. Unemployment rate is at 10% here and rapidly rising!!

Columbus, Ohio
We're moving to Columbus, Ohio.
Thanks for the replies. Unemployment is just under 5% here and set to sky rocket in the next few months once redundancies go through, DELL leave etc
