You're moving yourself and all your stuff back home to Canada to work on your marriage??? Get real.

Ok I'm obviously reading it wrong? When I type in the state that I want to go through it says Seattle?
Yes, you're reading it wrong, somehow. You would want to go through one of the ones in Montana, I would think. There are several listed.

Hey there - where are you travelling from? Ill be going from Alberta and from that site it looks like I will have to go through Seattle? That seems a bit strange?? Also - do you know what we can bring? I'll be packing up my entire condo so I have to make sure I can bring everything. Any help/suggestions would be great!!
Why would you have to go through Seattle? There are plenty on the list closer to you.

Yup, bring everything.

I just renewed mine by mail and it only took 2 or 3 weeks, i think. You have to send your old passport, so make a photocopy of it before you send it away, just in case you have a sudden interview (unlikely).

By popular demand, I am beginning a thread to share everyone's eventual cross border tax issues so it can be kept in one central place and can be continually used as a resource in this and coming years. So feel free to post and share the love and information.

I have been an LPR through K1 since Sept of 2013. I receive spousal support from my Canadaian ex-husband and paid taxes on this for 2014 to CRA. I just received a cheque for the entire amount I paid from CRA. Apparently, I don't have to pay taxes on this income in Canada since i'm not a resident. OTOH, for US taxes I filed jointly with my USC husband and our return was prepared by an accountant. I did not have to pay any taxes to the IRS for my spousal support either. Could this be right?

You could start by realizing how very close you are culturally, to Canada, and how close you are, physically, to your family and friends, compared to people coming from Asia and Europe, and perhaps start seeing yourself as lucky. Just a thought.

I can't imagine starting the process all over again. I had a somewhat similar situation and had to leave my employer in the lurch. He was pretty pissed, but eventually got over it when he realized, as we all do, here, that the US gov calls the shots in our immigration process. Just go, and figure out some way to compromise on/postpone your family and work issues. (You can come back after you get your EAD/AP, work remotely, etc).

Verrrry expensive to have the baby in the US.

One of your earlier topics was about this child, i think. You were having serious doubts about your fiance bringing this child with him (which i assume you shared with him). Now suddenly, she shows up at the airport and gets pushed into your arms at the gate? And you take her with you? Crazy. Your naivete is frightening, and I just hope you don't get screwed in some serious and irrevocable way over all of this.

It has to do with the fact that you're no longer a Canadian resident. Here is something on it: http://mti-cga.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/DISPOSITION-OF-A-CANADIAN-REAL-PROPERTY-BY-NON-RESIDENT-VENDORS.pdf
This link seems to be for selling property as a non-resident. Is that what you're doing , OP?

2 years ago, had my interview on June 25th. It was a Tuesday and I picked up my passport with visa Friday morning (and on a plane 2 hours later!)
-
After moving heaven and earth so that my USC spouse could attend the interview, he was not required to say ONE word, and the whole thing was over in 5 minutes.

Seems like leaving a child behind is pretty good evidence that she intends to return home.

If she comes on a tourist visa, she is not allowed to work, even for no money. It's seen as taking potential work away from a US citizen/permanent resident. She will not get a work visa for this for the same reason. Even if you don't intend to pay her, or you don't intend to pay anyone for babysitting (i.e. perhaps get an American friend or relative to do the work for free if the foreign sister-in-law can't do it), it is still viewed as a job or potential job.

Might be? :/
Yes, there are plenty of hoops to jump through in Canada too. Check out roadtocanada.com forums. Just seems it might be easier for the two of you to live in a country where at least one you is a citizen...

Her coming to Canada might be easier.

I visited long-term with no ties whatsoever. No job, no address, even. No problem.

So, I just had to renew my passport from here in the US and thought I would save 100 bucks ( $160 vs $260) by using my parents' address in Canada rather than my US address (then, have my parents send the new passport to me). I got a call from the passport office, asking if I was going to be at the Canadian address to sign for the passport when it was delivered, because it ABSOLUTELY needed to be signed for by no one but me. I replied in the negative, and had to pony up the extra $100. Couple weeks later, I find my new passport sitting outside my door! No signature required, apparently. Aaah!

You don't need a US marriage certificate. Married in Egypt is married everywhere.
