Well I have news and no I haven't heard from the USCIS or such. However, I am over for Christmas in the UK as I promised my son I would not spend one without him.  Any way back to the news. Last week I was on FB and a stranger posted on my wall asking if I use to live at a certain address in England.  Immediately I was guarded, thinking I had some scammer or such.  However, it transpired that the purse I thought was stolen a year ago was actually posted to my old address in England last week.  My British driving licence was in it with the old address, along with my cancelled credit card, medical card, bank card and yes my GC.  A year later!!  You could have knocked me down with a feather!  With the purse was a letter, saying it had been left in a bar and they had kept it for this length of time. I only wish they had the brains to have informed me immediately, would have stopped me from having to go to London, pay a ridiculous amount for a transportation letter and it would have stopped my husband having to take two days off work, just to get an i55i stamp. Obviously the GC is pretty useless to me and I will have to now write to the USCIS when I get back to the USA and surrender the said card!

WHat an awesome story! It would have been so much nicer if they would have sent it directly after it was found.

We are half way through, well nearly if its taking up to a year.  I have no idea why it would take that long when a year or so ago it was taking around 5 months.  Although it does seem Vermont has caught up to California although that's nothing to brag about when its still taking a year.  I have the biggest gripe about the fees, if they want to put them up as they did in December then at least make sure its a faster service.

I agree it isn't fair to have to wait for so long.

  3. I'm not sure what to suggest but I have a thought. What about a letter from his employer? I don't know if it is possible for his job but for me I sent in a year to date with my employment letter. The year to date showed how much each one of my paychecks were for the entire year. Also is the 2015 tax return the actual tax return or is it a transcript?

  4. Do the dr's take the photos or my husband should supply them? Are they talking about passport photos or what type?

    Thanks

Just chiming in Jenn make sure he gets several passport photos and by all means make sure he measures them as they are to be 2X2 in size. He will need the passport photos for the doctor and the embassy

  5. Don't mean to be too intrusive but i am curious about your answer to question 11, because my husband and i married the first week we met face to face.If you did the same, and got approved it lets me know not to be concerned about it.

Also, what types of proofs of your relationship did he bring?

    Thanks

No worries about being intrusive. We married the second week I was in The Gambia. I was not leaving there until he was my husband lol. I sent him 3 chats from every month that I didn't send to the USCIS. I also sent in as many call logs from viber, WhatsApp, and our glides, well they were screen shots. I also sent with him all photos of cards and gifts he sent me. They never asked for anything at all but we had them just incase.

  6. My husband shared his experience. he arrived to the Embassy at 6:40am, the Embassy opened at 7:05 am. He went through security and waited to be called upon. At the window a man asked him these questions.

    1. who filed for you?
    2. how did you discover each other?
    3. What conversation did you first have?
    4. What was the conversation about?
    5. Has your spouse been married before?
    6. is this your first marriage?
    7. Did you know your spouse has children?
    8. How many children does she have?
    9. Do you have children?
    10. When did you first meet face to face and where did you meet?
    11. Was it the same time you met you got married?
    12. What is your wife's profession?
    13. What is her profession about?

Then the CO told him to wait then he came back to the window and asked to see his original documents, He told him to wait again and when he came back he said okay finger print here and come back next week to pick up your Visa and passport. Take this slip and bring it when you come back.

He said the CO was emotionless, he didn't smile but he did twitch his nose. Overall it was a good interview and he heard those magic words "your approved".
