No, they don't have processing dates like USCIS does. Cases are too individual for that at NVC. Some people wait to pay invoices or send packages, for instance, which would throw off processing average. There are just too many steps. NVC says it takes 30 days to review each package, so plan for that and hope to be surprised. Seems to be much closer to reality than it used to be though =\

No, EP eligibility is based on the beneficiary's country, not where the documents are coming from. You can receive email correspondence from NVC but you can't submit your documents electronically.

Yes. Your case number will begin with a three letter code that designates your embassy/consulate. I'm sure there's another source for this information but the first place I found it is here: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/submit.html Scroll down to the middle of the page and there's a drop down list that identifies all embassies and consulates by their code.

I can empathize. I would've beaten myself to an emotional pulp if I got us a checklist. I can't count how many times I reviewed each package line by line, or spread the contents across a table to stare at them and run through my mental checklist just one more time. I had everything in triplicate and even took pictures so I could reassure myself later I had indeed sent everything NVC had better pick up the pace again, this is really getting absurd. People who have already suffered worst and longest are once again getting the short end of the stick. I wish NVC had a dashboard like USCIS processing stats. It's nice we can get more info from them on the phone but they really provide less up front than USCIS does. We don't know their processes, whereas USCIS publishes its Field Adjudicator Manual. We don't know their workload, whereas USCIS publishes volume and trend data. Transparency matters, and on an agency level, they're not doing very well with it.

Congratulations!!! :joy: So awesome to have this great news to start the day!
I've seen the recommendation that the I-864A be used when "household member" applies to tax filings as well, not just sharing the same residence The I-864A is to add one's income to another sponsoring household member. So for instance, Soloenta has to file the I-864 as the sponsor/petitioner. Then Parent #1 will file an I-864 as well. If Parent #2's income is also needed to meet the threshold, Parent #2 can submit the I-864A.

No, embassies send NVC a schedule with their open time slots, then NVC books the interviews. After the scheduling is done NVC notifies the embassies and ships cases out to them.

Doesn't seem to be the case. Each piece of mail goes into the same queue to be reviewed, whether it's a new package or a checklist response.

Oh how annoying. There is a mistake somewhere in your records to sort out. Did you read the list of possible errors?
An SSA Tentative Nonconfirmation may occur if:
Your citizenship or immigration status changed since you last received your Social Security number.
You changed your name but did not report the change to SSA.
Your name, Social Security number or date of birth was recorded incorrectly in SSA records.
There is another type of mismatch with your SSA record.
Your employer did not enter your information correctly in E-Verify.
The name you provided on your Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, is not consistent with your name in SSA records.
A DHS Tentative Nonconfirmation may occur if:
Your name, A-numberI-94, and/or foreign passport number were recorded incorrectly in DHS records.
Your U.S. Passport, Passport Card, drivers license or state ID card information could not be verified.
Your information was not updated in DHS records at the time your information was checked in E-Verify.
Your citizenship or immigration status changed.
There is another type of error on your DHS record.
Your employer did not submit your information correctly to E-Verify.
The name you provided on your Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, is not consistent with your name in DHS records.
So did the employer enter the data correctly?
Did you go back to Social Security with your greencard to update your records to permanent resident? There are many possible hiccups and a formal process for contesting the notification while you go to SSA and USCIS to sort it. It's probably easiest to go to SSA tomorrow. Ask for a supervisor if you perceive the person helping you is a dummy. And get on the list for an infopass appointment to speak to somebody about your DHS records.

Well, you're not alone. There have been days when I held back sobs all through work, ordered myself not to cry during my commute, then got home, held my cat for a cuddle, and immediately burst into tears. There's no shame in being glad to have a companion. This is a long, lonely, difficult process. Anything that provides comfort is good.

Oh my goodness, I could not have made it through this ordeal without my kitty cats!
This last stretch has been the worst! Last week I was a big ole slobbery mess at work. Just thinking about my husband giving me a hug and how badly I could use one right now puts me in tears every time.
Then I look over at my cats and they're spooning each other or grooming each other and I squeal (which startles them and I get the ever-so-frequent look of disdain). They've kept me on Earth!

When I'm behind on the thread it's MUCH faster to skim through an email with dozens of posts listed than to manually page through the forum. It's a big help for very quickly picking out whichever posts might be of interest.
Out of curiosity, which posts are most useful to you? You lumped people posting the results of their calls in with the less useful stuff, so what specifically are you looking for? You might find the spreadsheet more useful too, it's hard data without all the jibba jabba It's great to use it to identify a few people ahead of you to keep an eye on, and then you'd spend less time weeding through stuff here.

    OK, folks. It's official!!!
CASE COMPLETE AS OF JUNE 4!!!
    :joy:
AND, I must have good luck - I never had to speak to either Joy or AH-thur!!!!
Jim was the bearer of good news. He didn't even ask me "What can I help you with this evening?". He cut right to the chase and told me the case was complete!
Then, when I gently pushed, he read me the standard line about interview scheduling and it depended on how busy the consulate was, blah, blah, blah. But he told me he loved being able to tell people good news!!!!
    Now....waiting on interview scheduling....
For those of you waiting - it does appear that an "N/A" under "Affidavit of Support Fees" is a positive indicator of case complete. My package explaining that the checklist item they wanted was 1) not required and 2) not available was scanned in on May 9th.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's a false checklist - they're asking for the whole package and you've already emailed it in. When they get to that day's emails, they'll process it.
Exciting, though! You're getting there! Keep us posted when you find out that they've "received" your IV documents - it'll give those of us going the EP route an idea of what to expect!

It's been happening for just the past couple of months I think. Anywhere that has completed a "first round" already, I'd say keep an eye out in the next 7-10 days for a "second round" to begin. I have no idea why things are done this way. Maybe it's to account for new openings from people who reschedule their dates?

I think they started scheduling a full week ago, so I'm not 100% surprised they're saying first round is done. Remember though that it's embassy-specific; different places fill at different rates. Dwheels' spreadsheet is a great resource for getting a sense of when scheduling has historically started and stopped. The "first round finished" line is what I got back in April, too, and a second round followed within two weeks. I hope that'll be the case here.
