There is a huge age difference between me and the man I will marry in 2 weeks in Pakistan. We love each other and to us that is all that matters. We met online but I have already been to Pakistan once to meet him and his family and I will return in 10 days for our marriage. There is over a 20 year age difference. Men do this all the time but for a woman to marry a younger man is still rare.
My question is will this hurt us in getting our k-3 visa? I worry about this all the time. Any help to ease my mind would be welcome.
The fact that this happened once before, with nearly identical circumstances, will make the CO even more suspicious.

Yes I am older. I’m 62 and he is 24
Such a marriage is already rare in the US, and extremely rare in Pakistan. In the interview, the CO has to think (among other things) "would this marriage have existed if immigration was not in the picture".
Even if the genders were reversed, it would still be uncommon (husband in 40s marrying a wife in her 20s is still possible, but getting less common with time) and likely subject to scrutiny.

FYI your child will be a dual citizen, as Pakistan also grants birthright citizenship.

It sounds like they are claiming that a refugee can take an oath that meets the requirements of naturalization, but since they do not meet the requirements of naturalization as a citizen, they can theoretically be a national since the oath was still taken. The problem is that there is an "and" which joins the two subsections of 8 U.S.C § 1452(b), and the first section says "proof to the satisfaction of the Secretary of State that the applicant is a national, but not a citizen, of the United States, and..."
So I do not think this would work (as those people who are nationals and not citizens is more/less clearly defined due to case law, etc).
I guess someone should fix the wikipedia article?

I don't understand how this would work out. Reading the referenced material in the Wikipedia post does not clearly state that an asylum seeker can immediately gain non-citizen US National status.
To add to @Mike E, Swains Island folks are also non-citizen US Nationals.
That is exactly why I mentioned this. I saw this on wikipedia a few years ago as well, but it did not seem to add up. For some reason someone seems to think they found an obscurity in the laws

Are you a citizen of America Samoa? Those are practically the only remaining US nationals, afaik.
Accelerated naturalization of American Samoans is a thing, provided they’ve resided continuously in the USA and/or America Samoa for the past 5 years.
I am not, I was just curious as naturalizing as a U.S. National sounded strange to me (especially for those who have zero connection to American Samoa)

I’ve never heard of refugees also being US nationals but it wouldn’t surprise me.
I was surprised. I know they can get travel documents since many are unable to get a passport from their country of origin (similar in appearance to a reentry permit, but different). Many countries issue "travel documents" (Germany, India, Nepal) or modified passports (Jordan) to stateless people or those who are refugees, but I have never heard of a refugee being classified as a U.S. National before

Wikipedia claims that this is possible. Thoughts?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afghan_refugees
"For example, those that receive green cards under 8 U.S.C. § 1159 can immediately become "non-citizen nationals of the United States" pursuant to 8 U.S.C. § 1452(b), without needing to meet the requirements of 8 U.S.C. § 1427(a).[17] This allows them to travel with distinct United States passports.[18"

Yes, that's what I meant, Son/Daughter of LPR.
Thanks

Relative wants to sponsor a child who is not married, but older than 21. This means, AFAIK, the F2B category.
The July 2022 visa bulletin says 22SEP15. Does that mean that the processing time (i.e. How long before the child can "go to America") is (2022-2015 = 7) roughly 8 years or so (7 + 1 for nvc stuff)?

on my marriage certificate from nadra they put my nationality : 1)PAKISTANI with my NICOP number is that ok or should i get it change to Nationality to AMERICAN with passport number
2nd i have nikah registrar stamp on nika nama urdu any other stamps do i need on my urdu nikah nama
3)official paper given to me by nadra which has quide azam pic does it need to be notarized n attest ?
thanks
pakistan
1. It should be fine as you are both Pakistani and American. A relative had this as well (USC, but Marriage Certificate shows "Pakistani") and no issues as far as I heard.
2. The Urdu Nikah Nama needs to have stamps saying that it was "registered" (there are usually registrar stamps). You do not need additional attestations, etc.
3. No notarization needed.
Do you have an English translation for your Nikah Nama? That will be needed as well.

You can even review it from the horse’s mouth: https://www.cbp.gov/sites/default/files/assets/documents/2021-Dec/Reminder- LPR Boarding 20210305.pdf
It doesn’t change the fact that with an expired extension letter, airlines aren’t going to board.
I did not see that . Thanks!

1. How long after sending the package did USCIS cash the check?
2.How long after sending the package did you get the NOA?
3. How long after sending the package did you get your biometrics appointment ?
P.S : My processing center would be Dallas,Texas as I am a Georgia Resident.
Thanks!
Wondering the same. It was fairly quick pre-COVID, but COVID slowed things down a lot...

I'm sorry in advance if I am starting a new thread but I have read the previous threads and got even more confused 😞 regarding the translation of our urdu NIkkah Nama. We're currently compiling documents to submit to NVC. We have our ORIGINAL URDU Nikkah Nama and ORIGINAL ENGLISH Nikkah Nama and NADRA Marriage Certificate too. From what I have read so far, these three in one PDF are still not acceptable by NVC. They ask for a CERTIFIED ENGLISH TRANSLATION of original URDU Nikkah Nama.
My Question is: can you please guide me from where can we get a certified translation of our urdu nikkah nama done in ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI? Also should it be attested from foreign affairs or could be done from any public notary in ISB/RWP? Do we require a cover letter from the translator as well, if yes what should be the contents of that letter? If anyone has a sample of a certified english translation of nikkah nama and/or cover letter from the translator, it would be super helpful if you can share those images here but please crossout your private credentials/details on it if you share.
We really want to get DQ'd in the first try so wanna make sure all documents are submitted as required. We have waited long enough in the immigration journey already
Any guidance would be super appreciated from Pakistani VJ members but others can comment too if they are more aware about this situation.
You can translate it yourself or have a relative translate it. The just need to sign a statement saying the translation is accurate.

Adoptions are complicated. Adoptions of relatives are even more scrutinized than usual adoptions. Adoptions of relatives who have living parents are exceptionally rare.

Generally speaking, LPRs are eligible for SNAP after 5 years of LPR status. There is also, generally speaking, an exception for women who are LPRs who are pregnant.
There are also some exceptions for LPRs who obtained LPR status due to asylum, refugee status, VAWA, etc (there are other cases too, gets complicated). I am guessing these would not apply here

Seems like immunity for chickenpox showed up in the blood report, so all is good! Thanks y'all!
That would be Varicella IgG, glad it worked out!
You can get the other ones done (Mumps IgG, Rubella IgG, Measles/Rubeola IgG) to have records for yourself, as you may need them later (or you could have them done again in the US, but it will cost more)
-
You can get the blood test done at any lab in Pakistan (titer tests). Measles/Rubeola IgG, Mumps IgG, Rubella IgG, Varicella IgG. These will prove immunity (or lack of immunity).
