I was once told it's because when you do rigorous exercise you make micro tears in your muscles which are then healed over, making your muscles grow with time. The soreness is your muscles healing, which doesn't really start to happen until 48 hrs after. Kind of like when you bump into something, or cut yourself, and the bruise or cut is more sore a few days later as opposed to immediately after. How true that is, I don't know, but it kinda makes sense.
Got word back from my dad's life insurance. Should come through within another week or so! I'll feel much better once we finally have it in our hands.
