I agree that kids do need strong boundaries and discipline (although I don't believe it needs to be corporal punishment) and yes, lots of love.
I also believe that people (adults or children) with diagnosed mental health issues need specific support that goes beyond simple discipline issues. Beating someone with a mental illness until they just learn to hide their problem from family and friends is more likely to result in uncontrolled and serious outbursts later in life. You can't simply beat a mental illness out of somebody.

How does it 'solve' anything when you reinforce the message that inter-personal problems are solved with violence of the strong against the weak?! Your personal experience involves also at least one felony conviction for violence as I recall you saying. You think this is a model for others to emulate?

    Wow.
So a concealed carrier is taking credit for the shooter's gun jamming? And the shooter killing himself afterwards.
Well, if the "easybakegunclub.com" folks say this is exactly what happened, then I'm sure it is.

    Come on.
Sure, it's nice to think that's what did it. That's what changed his mind. But who knows, maybe after the gun jammed and he had a second to realize what he was doing, he couldn't work up the resolve to start it up again.
But sure. Let's give credit to someone because they say so.

And modern Israel was also created in the aftermath of World War II. I think that's ta me go hiontach's point: We're not talking ancient history here. Modern Israel as an entity will be 60 in May, younger than my mother.
You can't read about the tactics used by the various groups back then (Haganah, Irgun, Lehi) against the British and Arabs without drawing parallels to the current conflict.

That's the question, is it not?
I don't think too many rational people who have taken a dispassionate look at the facts surrounding the creation of the modern state of Israel have zero sympathy for Palestinians.

If you aggressively pursue someone, even an animal, then natural instincts kick in, and adrenalin surges through the blood stream, shutting all functions down, except those needed for immediate survival, focusing the mind on one decision only, fight or flight. Take away the ability to escape, that leaves one probable outcome -- the prey will turn and attack its pursuer.
I guess Zimmerman thought everybody reacts like the helpless women he attacked in the past, even though he still needed a firearm to make him feel confident enough to bully everybody that came into the neighborhood.

I will: you've gotten a little hysterical about this. Some people don't like to be called 3 times a day, and I personally think it would be cute at 16 but not at my age. Perhaps some do! I don't!
But alas, I am blocked, so I will never hear your words as to why you object to my personal opinion about this, why my opinion about my own life is somehow not valid. Or another one of your tirades about manipulation and shaming, which I always find so droll and amusing since they're replete with attempts to manipulate and shame. I'd say you might be projecting yourself but then -- oh, the agony! I am blocked.

That's the behaviour of a manipulator, trying to shame someone for having an opinion that doesn't fit with his conception of how people should behave. I was commenting on what I would think of my beloved calling me throughout the day within the context of my own life, my own condition (and my own break time). I was never saying this is what everyone should believe, but what I believe. And now you're attempting to shame me for what is very normal for many people throughout the day, namely chatting, which (in my opinion) is considerably less disruptive to one's working patterns than phone calls. Sorry, it doesn't fly with me that I should be ashamed.
As I said before, horses for courses. If multiple phone calls a day suits you and you are happy with it, cool. If texts are the thing, awesome. Faxes? Why not. Do what suits your life and your comfort level.
    PS: He's not my husband.

We are running in to this issue in WA State too. Many pharmacies are refusing to sell the "Plan B" Contraceptive. The way I look at it is, they have a State License to sell medicine, they cannot dictate what medicine they will or will not fill. Seperate church and state. Keep your beliefs out of business and follow the rules. Pretty straight forward to me.

    7. California
Despite climbing three slots from last year's ranking, California remains on this list due to a combination of high taxes, high cost of living and high unemployment.

I feel I am being baited!

Nope! Kotex. Here is a pic (3 boxes had already gone through the checkout) -- and apparently they were only $1.99 a box and 18 in each box. You can also see that I occasionally buy cheapo wine and am not kidding about cat treats.

Aww - I always love pictures of Mad-Ag! Serious is right - but cute as a button too! We loved Skyfall too - glad that you had 'nanny' there to babysit so you and Jon could get out a little. I swear, that is SO necessary for your sanity. My niece has started babysitting to make a little $ so I believe we will be employing her sooner rather than later. We love dinner and a movie - our favorite kind of date.
I am SO excited that your sister is having a boy and that all seems to be going well so far with the pregnancy. How exciting for all of you!
Here's a picture of Emily sitting with a friend of mine, scrounging her smart phone of course (she can unlock mine with ease and navigate from app to app - frighting really). Sorry it's not a better picture but I realized this is the best I have on my work computer. LOL It was taken about two weeks ago.
Sadly, she has really no interest in potty training yet. She will tell us when she has pooped, but hasn't made that step in logic yet to 'I need to poop - put me on the potty'. We haven't been trying TOO hard either though - will probably pick that up after the first of the year. My sister said her daughter (who was fast at everything) had no real interest in it - and couldn't 'grasp' it - until she was at least 2 1/2, so I'm not that surprised (or concerned). We're likely going to start her in a two day a week preschool in August, so she'll need to be potty trained by then at least.
She is also still in her crib instead of a toddler bed! LOL She does so well in the crib that we've been in the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' mode. She has never climbed out of it, and climbed into it once (last night!) to get a stuffed animal. We have a friend with a 3 1/2 year old son who just made the transition so we don't feel so bad. But Mad-Ag is making me think we are behind!! Eeek!! That said, it sounds like she's forced your hand a little bit. I will be very curious to see how it goes - so keep us informed.

Loxley is 4 months today! Sleeping...well, sleeping...ok. Sleeping regression. Every 2 hours. OMG i want to die.
Here are some updated pis of him. My little handsome devil and his daddy.

this hilarious look on his face on the steam train in Disney. I didn't think it was all that fast but apparently he did:

he's got the "i don't exactly trust this" look down!

this one is for Rach! I'm joining the baby wearing wrap community! I love these wraps! my first girasol

I have to take some time to read and catch up on everyone. Looks like it's a mixture of ups and down. But new babies joining the crew! Very cool. Hope all of you lovely ladies and these adorable bumps and babies are doing well. I'm looking forward to feeding Loxley his first bit of food in a spoon. I can't stinkin' wait! We have a trip planned to Blighty for Christmas. Gotta get Loxley's passport done. oy vey. not looking forward to travelling with a 6 month old. I'm hoping my ####### will save the day. I plan on stuffing it in his face at take off and landing and any fussy points in between, bless him.

    It's a BOY!!
The ultrasound was disappointing, the tech didn't let me see the screen and stayed silent the whole time. Then at the end, she had me roll around as baby had his legs crossed. She then casually just said "it's a boy"- we were like what?? We expected her to walk us through and do some kind of fun reveal. She then finally let me see the screen, showed me the #######, heart, bladder, hands/feet, profile, and then we were rushed away with some photos. Bummer! But I have to go back for another one this weekend as she missed part of the spine, and I will ask to see the baby this time.
The midwife notified me that the baby has a white spot on his heart. I almost died. But then she said it's ONLY a soft marker for Down's Syndrome, and my other tests came back negative, and my risk level was 1 in 50,000! So she said it's virtually no risk, and the baby won't have any heart problems.
Maven, it will be awesome if you get that done and dusted for the start of 2013.

I only discovered that film recently (about a year ago). I couldn't believe I'd never heard of it! If it had been available on video in the 90s, just about everyone I knew in college would have had it on a continuous loop.

Comical! I love people like this, they either end up having hidden videos of themselves having sex with farm animals, or sit around the house in their underwear eating cheetos and patting themselves on the back while posting in anonimity on internet discussion boards.
