Hey y'all...
I have been planning to have a joint sponsor, but now I'm thinking about going just me because I definitely make enough money. I only hesitated to because I don't have a W2 for my current job. I asked an NVC operator today if an employment letter is enough to prove my current income (even without a company letterhead since I work as a nanny). They said it was ok. Should I believe them? Has anyone had a negative experience with this? Thank you!

I know the feeling. I have been hoping for a case number all week.
-
Thank you! My AOS showed paid this morning so we are running on full blast now! Sending packet today and waiting on next payment to post so I can process and send! Praying for you and us all!
Hi Saylin, showing PAID today. Sending packet off now!
You go girl!
-
Thank you to you too!
Are you also waiting for an interview date?
Good luck!
I wish! Haha I'm waiting for a case number still. I know I should get it any hour now....or in 10 business days!
but thanks for the good luck!

Well I'm getting kinda anxious to get my wife's interview date my case has been closed since the 25th of June and nothing yet I hope CDJ and nvc can schedule it soon!
I hope everybody else is moving along smoothly and good luck everybody!!!!!
Hey an MEP, haven't seen one in a while on these forums so a little excited! I'll have to check out your timeline! Best of luck getting an interview date!
Congrats to everyone making progress!
I called NVC today to ask how long it would take for them to assign a case number, and they said 10-20 business days.
Is this normal? Despite some of the positive estimates given here, the estimates given by the NVC staff have been much, much longer...
ditto! Congrats to everyone! Every time I call the operators have told me 10-20 business days.. I just keep calling.
It's been 9 days since my case was received at the NVC. The operators have all been cordial and even some very nice ones too.
I got the fee bill today...later this afternoon then paid the fee and printed the bar coded cover page. Sending the packet out first thing in the morning. IT'S HAPPENING! I'M SO READY for my husband to come home!
Hey, Hey, Hey...later this afternoon got an email from NVC and the fee bill attached. Paid the AOS online and printed out the barcoded sheet. Tomorrow morning...the packet will be mailed off! Super excited!
Congrats! This has been going fast for you, which is good news for everyone!
Thank you everyone for your help and answering my questions

-
thanks!
A.P.P.R.O.V.E.D!!
Our interview could not have gone better. The officer was so nice, and we were in and out in just 10 minutes. Got our C-3 spot, so that helped.
Just can't believe that it's finally over! What a stressful and frustrating journey. But how rewarding it is in the end!!! Hubby got the email from Loomis today saying that they sent it out, so it should be here by Thursday, and then it's back to the states.
SO HAPPY!!!
YAY!!! Congrats!
-
Could someone please direct me to the part about sample employment letters? ...sorry!

Good luck everyone else
Mr bjorkstrom - congrats on case complete.
Congrats!! So many good things today! Woot!
Finally was able to pay my AOS fee. Jeeez. Hopeful that I'll be able to email my aos today or tomorrow. I was hoping to get my IV package off this week too, since I'm on vacation all next week. The place I'm going is an island in the upper peninsula of Michigan and communication with the outside world is limited at best. I guess another delay shouldn't surprise me at this point. This process is grueling.
I'm from Michigan. So I was
when you said that.
Yes!...just the night BEFORE! I'm still Amazed this morning! God is good!
Took me exactly 15 "WORKING" days from NOA2. I've only called the NVC four times prior to getting the number. In the AM of the 15th day, I was told "we just recieved the case today, please call back in 10 to 20 days for case number". Well, that wasn't what I really wanted to hear...so later that evening (8pm'ish Central Time, I called again, gave them my NOA2 receipt number and she started asking me different questions: Petitioner name and Date of Birth, same for Beneficiary, Application (Visa) type applied for. My email address, his email address and when she got to my telephone number...it was wrong "IN THE SYSTEM".
Wait, did she say "IN THE SYSTEM"...I was about to jump out of my chair, then she gave me the case number and said they were still working on entering so there was no Invoice just yet but to go ahead tomorrow morning and send in the DS-3032. They will contact me by email!
That is so awesome! Congratulations and keep us updated!

I was fooling around, I know you didn't mean it that way, was just having fun
And you'll be getting your case number very, very soon
*phew*
and thanks!!
-
Thanks, Ryan!
-
I never said you didn't
I know hon, I guess that came out the wrong way! sorry...
I meant to say, look what I learned teacher! Smile and be proud.
It's been a rough day. Extra forum-ing and extra calling the NVC. I was just really hoping today would be the day, I know you all know how that feels. But it's still too soon to *expect* a case number, OR get discouraged!
Congrats to all the cases that have made progress!

Preparing my AOS Packet while i wait for a Case Number...so far I have the following planned:
COVER LETTER
FORM(S)
- I-864, Affidavit of Support
SUPPORTING DOCUMENT(S)
- COPIES of W-2s (2011, 2010, 2009)
- COPIES of IRS Tax Transcripts (2011, 2010, 2009)
- ORIGINAL Employment Verification Letter from Employer
- COPIES of Pay stubs for current year
I don't need a joint sponsor. Am I missing anything?
I was gonna say what Saylin said, of course she told me! If you have your tax transcripts no W2s necessary! See Saylin, we do learn.
You are very welcome Chii! Start on page one and soak it up!
GOT MY NVC CASE NUMBER!!! I'm very excited...and just finished my packets last night! Let the fun begin! YEAH!!!
:dancing:

Wow that was fast! Congratulations!!!! Right on time because you just got everything together!

Our timelines look really similar, in fact! Hopefully we'll get our case numbers around the same time. I just got a bit excited because the guy on the phone asked me for the petitioner and beneficiary information, only to tell me it had arrived and they were still inputting it into the system. First time I'd been asked for petitioner and beneficiary information... Hm. Got my hopes up! Maybe tomorrow, I guess.
Woah, no kidding our NOA1 is the same too!

Yeah that is different! Hopefully we'll get our case #s ASAP! I'll be praying for you!
False alarm! Just confirmed that NVC case is complete and this checklist just clarifies the need to bring it to the Mumbai interview.
Freaked out and panicked for 20 min while waiting for a agent on phone!
Congrats!

Any MEP-ers out there?
-
Ok, just want to make sure....
AOS and Package IV were both filed online per Saylin's marvelous Montreal guide
So now, I just call those "special" people at NVC daily to find out if/when case is complete? Or will they let me know??
I'd call, that's the fastest way to find out any updates on your case.
After the excruciating wait for my noa2 I thought the worst was over. Never did I imagine it would be waiting to pay money for my aos that would be harder. I don't understand how I got my case numbers on June 22nd the I am still not able to pay any bills or send them any info. Ive called and called and they keep telling me "10 to 15 business days". Seriously? That is just not true. Most people on this site get going two days after case number is available. Is anyone else having this problem?
..don't tell me that! I will go crazy! Haha. I like Saylin's idea of asking for a supervisor!
The photos have to be taken within the last 6 months. If they were taken in February, you have one month left to use them as they'll "expire" in August.
If you want to know how to scan them, click on my wiki in my signature, and go to the "Scanning" portion. I explain how I scanned my passport photos.
Thanks Saylin! I will definitely check that out! My question was about the requirements, if they were the same for both photos, but of course I can look up the requirements for each one and see if they're the same.
NVC received the I-130 on July 2nd. Still waiting for a case number...
Me too! Race you to it! JK I will be perfectly content with us getting case numbers the same day, today would be preferable
-
Happy Monday everyone!
-
I have a question about the photos, can I use the same photos that I used for the i-130 since they were taken in February? Has anyone done that? And how do you go about sending those for electronic processing? Just scan them?
-
You repeated the Affidavit of Support stuff. You need Tax Return Transcripts OR Tax Returns with the W2s. Not both.
Same with proof of employment. I think an employment letter OR recent pay stubs (I don't think the whole year is necessary) are sufficient. Although I guess you could send both just in case. Definitely no need to send tax returns and W2s if you have tax transcripts though.
I don't agree with frontloading, but since you said in Nigeria you are supposed to, I guess it's different.
Best of luck to you!
-
Nice write up...I did a checklist "Nigeria specific" today as well. Putting it all in one place and getting some feedback really helps you focus and get concrete information based on your spouses Country of origin! God bless the rest of your journey!
Thanks Dana! Best of luck to you too!

Thanks, Saylin! The instructions for the i-864 specifically say to provide proof of current income..and I don't have any paystubs, so the employment letter is my only shot. I'm just not sure if I want to risk getting the dreaded RFE... But it might be worth it to let my joint sponsor off. Decisions decisions /:
oh and such a fun party it is!Bummer! And I've made those errors before! I will double and triple check! Thanks for the warning!
My husband always sends extra signed blank forms with this stuff...
Best of luck with everything!
