  1. your interview will be in Manila according to your case no. but if you want interview in Manama (Bahrain) then you have to send your Passport copy, Bahrain residence visa copy and your address to NVC. They will change the embassy for you and assign you new case number. Proceed with the documentation with the old case number as the new case number will be linked with the old one. When they change your address, make sure you call them and ask them the address they changed. If something is still wrong with the address, tell the operator to change it for you over the phone. Same thing happened to me.

  2. 1. If you got a new case number, yes, I'd write it. Maybe don't cross out the old one though, just in case (or cross it out by just putting one line through it, so it's still visible if needed).

    2. If you have a new passport, send a copy of that one's bio-data page. And yes, definitely send a copy of your residence visa (front and back). If you don't, then you'll get issued a checklist for it. (Make sure you bring your residence visa with you to the interview by the way, they may want to see it).

    3. Is the Abu Dhabi a hard place to interview? If it is, then yes, send proof of relationship with the IV package. If it's not that hard, then just bring the proof of relationship with you to the interview. If you do decide to send pictures, then just write "Proof of relationship" on the cover letter in the appropriate place.

    Thanks Saylin. You are great.

  3. Nice! Hopefully they'll review and accept it by the end of next week ;)

    Hopefully :)

Saylin, just want to know the answer to few small questions.

    1. i sent all my documents including my pics to my wife. I wrote old case number on the back of the pics. Should we cross it and write new one?

    2. Last month i renewed my passport 5 months earlier than expiry date. Do i need to send my old passport bio-data page and Dubai residence visa? (as i am resident of Dubai and asked for interview in Abu Dhabi)

    3. Should we add wedding photographs in DS-230 (Packet IV)? do we need to mention it in cover letter?

  4. I have read on here that people waiting on the NVC should call everyday. But, I wonder what it does. A few days ago, Saylin responded to someone who posted about their luck after calling:

So, why call every day/ every few days? What does it do?

Just to get an update about case and save time. If you rely on NVC snail mail then you will just waste your time. Many members here and not eligible for electronic processing. Its is best to call NVC and ask about update.

  5. WOW I thought what the heck call USCIS just to see what they say. To my dismay they said "You have to wait 90 days. It can take up to 90 days for NVC to recive your case. If they haven't received in 90days than please do call us back so we can see where your case is." OMG I am speechless.

I remember when i called USCIS they told me the same thing. But within 10 calender days it reached NVC. Keep praying n dont worry it will be in NVC in few days.

"You cannot make online payments for your case at this time. Please contact the NVC if you have questions or need further information."

I guess they are processing my AOS invoice. hopefully it will be available to pay in couple of days.

  6. Just spoke to another operator. She said that even though we have already sent the proof of residency with I-130, i still have to send the information again to NVC because NVC is different from USCIS. She also said that i should email them and request to update my address and change the embassy and new case number will be emailed to me. When i ask her about the AOS fee and DS-3023, she said that i should pay the fee and send the DS-3023 with this current case number as the new case number will be linked to the old case number and they can pull all the info with both case numbers.

  7. If you followed the guide, then just keep waiting.

Yeah, I suggest postponing the DS-3032 and paying the AOS bill until your new case number is assigned.

    Start calling tomorrow.

I have no idea where this myth has come from with the operators. You can always ask the operators :P

I just spoke to my wife. She told me that she did send my residency visa copy to USCIS and still they made this mistake  . should i call NVC and speak to the supervisor?

  8. Grats on getting your case number! kicking.gif

I suggest calling them up asap. They'll tell you what you need to do to change embassies (if anything). Yes, this will result in a new case number (each case number has the three-letter country code at the beginning for where you're interviewing). Of course this will cause delays as they need to change your information. How long the delay will be, no one can predict. Could be a couple of days, could be longer. But if they assigned a wrong embassy, then it needs to get fixed.

The operator told me to send the proof of my residency. i will email them all now. Should i postpone the DS-3032 email? as it contains the case number and should i ask my wife not to pay the AOS fee as it will have barcode with wrong case number?
