  1. HI folks,

Good new for today is that i just received my Case number and IIN.

Bad news is that they assigned US EMBASSY IN ISLAMABAD FOR INTERVIEW instead of US EMBASSY IN ABU DHABI :(:crying::angry:

I have been living in Dubai from last three years.

Question: if i send them my proof of residency (Copy of residence visa, copy of Overseas National ID card and copy of Emirates ID) will they change the case number?? will this thing cause more delays? Where should i send the request to change the Embassy?

  2. So, my husband had his interview today....and he was approved.....no ap!!!! Yay! I was expecting it....dreading it....but prayers work! They kept his passport, said pay at aramex and will take 1-2 weeks. Omg! I'm so happy.

Just saying thanks to Darnell and Saylin, and to Mimolicious for being a friend. And thanks to everyone who helped.... I did not post much, most of the questions I had were answered in the guides, and wiki.

Keep up the good work, this site is extremely helpful....Good luck to all!

    Congratz!!! :dance::dance::dance:

  3. After reading through a lot of people's experiences about this stage, it seems like the best way to get through the NVC process is to be persistent and call them until a case number is received.

Our NOA2 was sent on June 18, and the case was received on July 9. According to the operator I spoke with on the phone today, he said it would take up to 20 business days to create a case number.

Is that the case, or has anybody else heard the same thing?

Your approval date and NVC receipt date is same as mine. I got the same reply from them.

  4. Approved and visa in hand, 2 days to receive package. No it will not be opened as I

will guard it with my life.......kkkkkkk!!

Thanks to all here and I bid you all the best in your visa quest.

All went smoothly at our interview.

Prepreparation with all documents on hand, whether needed or not

    is key.

The Consul Officer was friendly and professional and appeared

just as excited as we were when she approved our visa.......

Thanks a bunch Saylin for helping me ski through NVC.

    POE.......Charlotte, NC July 19, 2012.

    Congratz :)

  5. Just called NVC and the operator told me that they received my case just yesterday..

I called NVC a few minutes ago and they finally received our case from USCIS. According to the operator, she said it would take up to 2-4 weeks to create the case number, but she also said I could call back next week and hear whether the case number is created by then or not.

The good news is that we've had time to assemble some of the necessary documents, so once the case number comes it shouldn't take that long to send everything. Being able to pay online will help matters a lot too, as both of us live abroad.

How long has it been taking for other people to get their case number after NVC receives their NOA2?

Congratzz. BTW your NOA2 date is same as mine and NVC received our cases on the same day.

  6. Ok Saylin (or any other technical guru!) I need some scanning help.

I scanned in all 42 pages for the I-864, and they come to 24.6 MB. The trick is...I can't seem to get them compressed. I don't have Adobe Acrobat, and I can't download it (shared computer). I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 9, which does not appear to have a PDF compression method.

I did try to download a "free" PDF compression kit, but it had a virus, so yuck.

Not sure what other options there may be.

You can download this software and it will work as a pdf printer.

or you can do it online from
