I thought that applying for a tourist visa is just easy. I feel like the last option left is for your parents to try it again.

They can certainly try again. Getting approved (or denied) for a B2 visa is a combination of different scenarios.

Hey guys. My husband applied for his citizenship and had his biometrics on oct 1, 2018.  It seems a lot of people are getting their interviews or have had their interviews already but we have not had any action on his case since biometrics. We are coming up on 7 months now on May 1 and we have not heard anything yet. I check his case status every few days and it still says we are actively reviewing your case. He does have a dismissed charge from over 5 years ago and a pending charge for simple property damage that happened After he applied for his n400🤦🏻‍♀️ Any advice? If he gets his charge closed and taken care of before interview should he be ok at his interview and still pass?? My mind is always going in circles wondering and worrying. We just want to be done with all of this!

From what state? And if it's still within the timeframe shown on your USCIS account, for them it's still normal processing.

I'm willing to wager that most visitor visa overstayers don't come over to stay on the first initial trip. My guess is they visit a couple of times beforehand to "get acquainted". But I am also willing to bet that when they do decide to come over to stay, whether it is the first trip or the 100th, they usually have decided and well aware of what they are doing.

So true. 100%. Nobody here can pinpoint whose going to overstay or not. That's every applicant's decision to make.

2-3 week visits are uncommon when flying 20+hrs to get to the US.. and airline tickets aren't necessarily cheap to indulge in a short visit.

I know of no S.Asian visitor staying just 2-3 weeks, but I've heard of plenty who stay up to 5.5 months.

    My parents did.

I respect your opinion but I stand by my advise.

They are still applying for the visa so winning the "heart" of the embassy is the hurdle they have to overcome. I'm sure the initial visit won't be their first and last. They can stay longer for their second visit (within the allowable timeframe ofcourse).

Can the interviewer see your feet?

You can wear sneakers, no problem with that. It's just my preference. And no, the interviewing officer won't see your feet coz of the window. 😅

  6. Smart casual is my preference. Like going to a job interview. This is a big day. Doesn't hurt to be a little extra (like a touch of blazer, no to sneakers though). Good luck! 😉

  7. Yes, typo errors happen. Happened to me as well but with USCIS. We received my NOA2 with wrong priority date. My husband called and asked for a new NOA2 with correct PD. They sent us a new one and they said NVC reviews the physical file to make sure of the correct PD so we have nothing to worry about. Surely it was a non issue for our case.

It takes NVC a long time to respond (back in my day it took them 10 business days to reply via email).  You or your petitioner can also call them for a faster response.

If you're PD is indeed current (the PD on NOA1 and NOA2) then you have nothing to worry about.

    Good luck!

    Congratulations @apple21 and  @lierre  !!!!😊

I am still trying to convince my parents to come over to visit me and my husband.  My father is only 62 and my mother is 59 . Both having issues with their knees. Since its going to be a little challenging for them to travel ,I will ask my younger sister to accompany them. I am hoping they can also be approved for a visa even if its  not a multiple entry :) .

Good luck. I hope my post will also help your parents' application. Keep us posted!

Besides her passport and visa, does she need to bring anything else to the airport? She needed her marriage certificate and birth certificate to her interview, will the CBP officer require those documents too when she lands in the US? Please let me know.

My parents visited on tourist visas, no docs were needed at POE. Just passport with visa. Safe travels.

    Really?

Never heard of that before, pulled some strings? I know USCs are permitted to enter the embassy complex, but to co-appear at a B1 interview?

His boss didn't pull some strings. My brother went thru the standard process of the B1 application. No hocus pocus. Lol.

His boss went with him because he knows how hard it is for Filipinos to get a US visa. My brother was still interviewed just like any other applicant. No special treatment. His boss was there for support only.

  11. What's your position in the company?

My brother also started with a B1 visa (eventually got his own B2).  He works for an American company with an office in Manila. He got promoted (then, single, early 30's) to a managerial position (now senior manager) and his company sent him to NY for training. His American boss (top management) went with him to his B1 interview and got approved. His trip to NY lasted 3 weeks. Maybe the consul also looks into the office position of the applicant, whether or not a training trip to the US is really essential.

I will give you a more detailed story.  So back in the 80's/90's my father in law was seriously raking in the moolah because he had farms and my mother in law was a home maker during all that time for six kids.  Ever since my father in law was a child he has always been able to obtain/renew his tourist visas.  My mother in law kept getting denied simultaneously at the time that my father in law had a lot of money.

She is 61 and my father in law is close to 70.

Maybe because she wasn't employed then? Or something she said on the interview that was inconsistent with info on the form? God knows what?! LOL.

She can definitely try reapplying again. Keep us posted and good luck!
