This is what we're doing. You might want to confirm with the others but mostly a lot of IR1/CR1 currently through Lagos.
Now that petition is headed to Lagos (I gave NVC my number and email as well as beneficiarys email and number) allegedly they will be making contact with the bene in Nigeria but I am being very proactive.
I have filed out forms
- DS-230
- DS-156 in duplicate
- DS-156K
- I-134
- I-797 (NOA2)
- Letter from my employer
- IRS tax account transcript for 2011, 2010, 2009
- Copies of past 6 months pay check
- Letter of intent
To establish ongoing relationship
- Post NOA1 RebTel phone records (they already have pre petition copies)
- Post NOA1 AT&T phone records (they already have pre petition copies)
- Copies of Western Union transfers on a monthly basis for Fiancee for her care (customary in my culture - hopefully we don't get a greenhorn to Nigeria CO)
- Copies of money transfer from my bank account in Nigeria to my Fiancee
- Copies of shipping documents and packages to my Fiancee
- Picture of post petition period, really haven't been back to Nigeria since I filed (just 3 months ago - hopefully CO will recognize most American working stiffs can't just lollygag flying around the world), basically pictures of her pictures in my condo and my car personalized plate with her name. They already have maybe 50 pictures of us pre petition showing us together in Lagos, Ibadan, Ijebu Ode, her with my Mum and almost all of my siblings,,,,,,,, and me with her Mum and her siblings.
For her to do:
- Go to police departement in Ibadan to get police clearance (N7,000 - 3 days), sure you can get it in Lagos maybe cheaper and faster but she shares my distate for Lagos.
- Wait for letter/package from Embassy so that she can then go to Lagos for the medical
- Then it's another waiting game for the interview date - but we're immune now - lol
I already set up a profile on the US Travel website I referenced earlier and intend to make our appointment on there once I have her pasport information (you may want to seek and heed guidance form others on that as I like running with scissors).
One advice is to have your Fiance approach an educated/travelled person family/friend and have them grill him to answer questions about you. Those questions that I've read on here that they ask folks. How did you meet, where, when, when did you get engaged, how, what work do you do, where do you live, blah, blah
One thing for me to do is if it kills me I need to learn why the NVC DHL tracking scheme is not working for me.
Good luck
Thanks,
Chi

this is a hard one to answer, because "to each it's own". You have to rememmber your in Hawaii, the cost of living is high. I know my daughter lived thier for a year in college. So your wife may be taking that into consideration.. For me if my fiancee (nigerian) can find a based IT job starting at 43,000 in Michigan when he gets here this fall..... I will be leaping for joy.. because that's very good for a starting salary "at a desk Job" in the IT field. Have you two discussed this in detail before coming over or while you were waiting on green card?? This is certainly on of those things that needs to be discussed. Find out her expectations, and both of you look to see how reallistic they are in your field , in your location, with your credintials and experience. It might help her to relax and be a bit more grateful.. If not you can at least bank some money and continue to look for better positions.
Peace,
Chi

ok next question,
I had present for my tax transcripts a month ago for the last 4 years. I just tucked them away for this part of the journey.. I just open them and realized I did not request a transcript for this Years filing
:bonk:
:bonk: so I have 2010 back to 2007. I still have my folder from doing my taxes with the worksheets and w-2's and 1090 so may i send them or just send for another transrcipt. It will take about 3 days for me to get it.
Ok next question.. I think I might be reading some of the posts wrong, but is the process to wait till I get the letter stating NOA2 and here are the request for AOS and IV??? or am I to start calling them and asking do you have me in the system and send the documents any way? Because here is what I was pondering from the first two posts pages of info...
When (and how often) should I start calling NVC about the case number?
Wait at least a week or two from your NOA2 date, then start calling. And call every single day afterwards until you get it.
Do I have to wait for NVC to email me instructions before mailing packages?
NO. If you wait on NVC for this, it can take WEEKS to get anything from them. As long as the respective bill appears as PAID in the payment portal, you can send in your package.
???????????????????????

Ok I found the post, pls bare with me on these questions,
So this is what it says for the immigrant visa application (IV)
Generally, the following is needed:
- Bar-coded cover sheet from payment portal
- Completed, signed, and dated DS-230 form by beneficiary So I need him to fill it and send me by mail the orginal in ink signed or can it be a scan and sent email???? mail is going to take a few days coming from Nigeria. ..
- Two passport-style photographs (2" x 2") of beneficiary (on the back, write: beneficiary's full name, date of birth, and case number)
- Copy of bio-data page of beneficiary's unexpired passport
- Original or Certified Copy of beneficiary's birth certificate, PLUS A PHOTOCOPY- Ok so he can just send a colored copied of birth certificate and hold on to orginal for interview, because it took a couple of months for him to get the actually birth certificate. I don't want it to get lost in the shuffle or what if he needs it for proff in Lagos at his interview??
- Original police certificate(s)- What is this? not the police clearance???
Am I getting everything right.

ok... just got approved yesterday. I'm overwhelmed with the detailsof the NVC but thankful .. I think I will have to read it a few more times.. So far I believe I have to obtain a letter from my employer, 3 years of taxes and pay stubs, and pay two fees.. ???
